My mother moved to McDowell Place of Danville. The people are nice. A couple of the other places were more institutionalized, but this one is not. There are two large buildings and it's apartment-style living. She likes the restaurant eating and community times where they do stuff together with other people. She loves the food. She says it is great. They give you a menu to choose from. The staff has just been great.

The only one I looked at was McDowell Place of Danville. It was excellent. I thought it was a wonderful place. It was very pretty. It was well kept up and clean. We met not many people, but everybody we met was very nice. They took their time with my friend, and I thought they explained everything very well. I think it's a convenient location in the city of Danville, and I like the fact that they would take people to their doctors' appointments and take them out shopping and do things with them. The dining room was just beautiful. I think it'd be wonderful to go to that dining room three times a day and eat. Everything was nice, but the kitchen cabinetry could use a little updating. Another thing that was nice about it is that you would be independent living in your apartment on your floor, and then say all of the sudden the doctor said that my friend got to have help with her meds or her shower, your price would change to assisted living prices, but you wouldn't have to move. The staff member who toured me was excellent.

I didn't have any qualms with McDowell Place of Danville at all. It's a very nice, welcoming facility. The staff was very friendly. They even had it decorated for summer. It's very cheerful and it was obvious that the staff members were good to the residents, because the residents were coming up and then talking to the staff, just asking questions and happy to see them. When I was doing the tour, even the person doing the tour was having residents come up to him and talk to him, so that was a good sign. The rooms were nice and they were very accommodating trying to meet what my father's needs were as far as physical limitations, and what types of furniture he would need and that kind of thing. The dining hall was beautiful and the menu choices were excellent. They had alternate food if you didn't like the main menu. They provided options for what you could eat.

McDowell Place of Danville is very clean, and it's very inviting to see plenty of activities for the elderly. Jessica was my tour guide, she was excellent and she explained everything. The amenities are wonderful, so the living conditions also seemed wonderful. They had activities like workout sessions for the seniors, they have a salon, a full dining room with a snack bar, and they have balconies for them to sit outside. They also offer laundry services. The building itself was under some renovations.

I have a friend who lives at McDowell Place of Danville and I thought the people were very helpful and very willing to do what they could. It was clean and was nice too. The residents looked happy, and all in all, I thought it was a positive atmosphere.

My mother-in-law moved into McDowell Place of Danville for respite care, and right now she is enjoying her stay very, very much. We chose it because it was close to her home and her doctors (she has an acute ankle fracture). The other areas that we looked at would have required her to change physicians. That was a very strong factor. They've been able to provide the exact level of care that my mother-in-law needs. The staff offer personalized attention. My mother-in-law raves about the food every day. They have activities, and she enjoys bingo and trivia, but right now she is limited to a wheelchair and non-weight-bearing activities, so she cannot do some of them. The place is tidy, well kept, and convenient.

McDowell Place of Danville was very nice, but my aunt-in-law wasn't qualified because they didn't have enough to take care of her. The rooms were a little larger. They have activities. There were a lot of sitting areas around as well as outside sitting areas. The food was very good. The dining area was much larger. It is much bigger and it would hold more people. Also the staff members were very nice and caring. They also provide transportation if residents need to go to a beauty shop or to their doctors' appointments.

Everything at McDowell Place of Danville was excellent. We loved it. It was great. It was not something that we can afford this time, but it was a very nice and clean community. The lady that did the tour was perfect. She showed us everything and she answered all our questions. They have efficiency apartments, 1-bedrooms, and 2-bedrooms. It depends on how much money you have and how much room you want. We saw the residents doing crafts and exercising. We also saw the cafeteria and the library. They take trips into town, they go out to eat once a week, and they also have a van that can take you to the doctor, to the pharmacy, and to Wal-mart, so you really don't even need a car.

From the moment I stepped into the building to tour, I knew this was the place for Mom. The staff and residents were very welcoming. The whole place was abuzz with activity and residents in the halls and living rooms visiting one another. Mom has been there for 2 months now and loves it! It's a real community where neighbors look out for one another. The staff have been great to work with, too.

McDowell Place has been an answer to our families prayers. We were so concerned for our mother living alone even though we live close and tried to check in as much as possible. Even though she was reluctant making a move, she now LOVES it! She now gets regular meals, has someone to check on her frequently, and she goes on trips (something she hasn't done in a long while)! We feel like a part of the family at McDowell Place too.

McDowell Place has been an answer to our prayers. I have a family member who has lived there for 5 years and she loves it! The staff is outstanding and take care of all your needs. They provide excellent care and make sure to meet all of my mother's needs . They always go above and beyond. The food is wonderful and the cooks take time to make delicious meals. We had looked at other local facilities and nothing compared to the services and loving care like McDowell Place provides. I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about assisted living for a family member.

McDowell was nice, and it’s a large place. The rooms were nice with a pretty good size room and an accessible bathroom. They gave an activity calendar, and I think they had lots of activities. I have known of other people that have been there.

McDowell is a very nice facility with a personal care unit. It has two floors with an elevator, so you don’t have to climb stairs. They have a lovely dining room, social area and really nice handicapped bathrooms. The meal was wonderful and outstanding, and the tables were covered in table cloths. Unfortunately, they don’t accept Medicaid. They have double rooms so you don’t have a roommate. They also have two units for independent living, where you can have one- or two-bedroom unit.

I wanted to give an updated review of McDowell Place of Danville. My mother has lived at MP for the past year. Moving her back to Kentucky for health reasons was very traumatic for the entire family. The staff at MP has been extremely helpful in making Mom at ease, listening to her, making her feel as though she is an important person to the staff, and also in helping our family adjust. Mom is quite capable of taking care of her apartment, her needs, etc. but it has proven essential that Mom be at MP where there is someone there for her in the middle of the night if needed. We are extremely pleased with the staff, the quality of care, the preservation of dignity that is given to the residents. We have had several meals with Mom and also been to visit as her meals were being served. For the most part, the meals have been fantastic. At the moment, the dining room is under renovation and meals are provided in another area or in their apartments. Our family is very thankful to have McDowell Place. Someone previously made a comment on the pricing of MP, but we did research and found that the prices coincide with the national rate for Assisted Living facilities.

My mother has lived quite happily here for about 8 years. She has her own furniture in her small apartment with kitchenette. She does not require assist with personal care but appreciates that there is always someone close if she needs help. The monthly cost includes linens, light housekeeping, transportation to medical or beauty appointments or shopping, membership in the wellness center next door including pool exercise classes, menu choices at all meals in beautiful dining room, good nutrition without tempation to skip meals to save money, plus a wide variety of optional activities: Sunday school, Friday afternoon happy hour, bridge groups, bingo, weekly trips for lunch at local restaurants, inhouse beautician, wii bowlin. There are other activities but this covers ones my mother uses. Small pets are allowed. The staff are wonderful!. They check in each evening with offer of a snack. They will bring a meal to her apartment if she does not feel well enough to go to the dining room.

I spoke with many residents who seemed content with the staff and generally pretty happy. I was personally surprised with the diversity and amount of activities the residents could chose to participate in, and there were also several stations set up for impromptu communal activities like board games or cards. Also, the facilities seemed clean and well managed. Additionally, although I did not try the food, I was invited to stay for dinner several times by friendly staff members. Though I was generally very pleased with the condition of the place, I do have to note that it did seem a little small for the amount of residents. Each room did however have its own bathroom, I am not sure if this is common in similar facilities. Finally, I imagine that this place is on the higher end of the price range, which might be a deterrent for some potential residents.

The staff seemed friendly but, a few of the patients had some complaints about workers attitudes. It was a fairly clean facility but it had a smell that was not unpleasant but could have been better. The residents seemed well taken care of. They had minor complaints about things but nothing major. Everyone seemed to be doing well. Everyone had access to a nurse when they needed assistance with something. Every room I visited had a television and a phone which the residents seemed to enjoy. Some of them complained about the food but I guess it is along the same lines as hospital food which isn't terrible but also not great. Overall it seemed like a fairly nice place and the residents seemed pretty content.

I visited and toured this facility when one of my close friends from church began assisted living here. This is facility is relatively new and is in pristine condition, the landscaping surrounding the building is also very scenic. I met and spoke to a number of the personnel at McDowell place and they all seemed happy to be there and were very polite. The dining area is spacious with plenty of seating, and it is easily accessed as you walk down the main corridor from the entrance. Most of the flooring was carpet, so the chance of slipping and falling is reduced and I thought that was a good idea. The rooms themselves are very home like and charming, they do not resemble hospital rooms and I think that this is a good thing. Each room has its own bathroom and a small kitchenette area (that we of course filled with pictures of her friends and family). Down the hall from my friends room was the casual living room area, which included a number of soft recliners, lamp lighting, and a television. All in all, I was very impressed with the facilities at McDowell Place and would recommend to those in Danville searching for an assisted living care facility.
