My Moms apartment was just the perfect size. Although she didn't cook, the kitchen had very nice appliances. The dining rooms are lovely and very good food. All meals were balanced and always had desert. My mom was only there for 8 months , but she enjoyed her time there. Thank you to the Brookdale team!

Brookdale 119 is a lively, friendly, beautiful community. My mother has been there almost a year and it has met her needs wonderfully. The staff is always ready with a smile and a caring attitude to help the residents with their needs. The ‘apartments’ are lovely and spacious, constantly being maintained and upgraded. My mother couldn’t be happier with her little ‘nest.’ We found the cost very affordable compared to others in the area for all that is provided. The meals are varied, healthy and delicious, and they offer many made-to-order options, if the day’s menu doesn’t appeal to her. She has all the activities she could want there on site or vans to take her shopping or to off site entertainment and medical appointments. I am so very grateful for the warm and caring home that the staff at Brookdale 119 is providing for my mother. We couldn’t be happier!

Mom has been here over 1 year now. She is very happy with most things. Staff is responsive and caring and they have many activities available. I gave them 5 stars….. but there s room for improvement in the food. The offerings are varied enough but the preparation and taste is bland. Also the Sunday dinner offering needs to be upgraded. It’s often a very basic sandwich on white bread with a slice of cheese and turkey or ham.

Brookdale Overland Park 119th was excellent. We liked it very much. It was very luxurious and very traditional. There're two restaurants and a pub, and you can eat in the pub. It had an extensive menu. However, it's spread out quite a bit, so you need to walk quite a bit. They have a nice swimming pool outside, but the buildings are spread out. There's a lot of walking through the lobby and the dining room to the clubhouse. You need to choose your apartment very carefully, otherwise, you'll be walking. It's a large facility. They have 267 apartments and 93% occupancy. They have two bedrooms, too. The prices are reasonable. They have group activities and exercises, and because they have a swimming pool, they have pool exercises. The lobby is very large with restaurants and services. It's very impressive. The staff was wonderful. Veronica was great.

Brookdale Overland Park was very accommodating. Our tour guide was just excellent. The facility looked very nice. It had a little general store and all the other amenities. They got the beauty, the barbershop, the transportation, and lots of activities that they do. The facilities were very nice. One thing we didn't like was they only had two meals a day.

We chose Brookdale Overland Park 119th because of the distance between where my brother lives and where my husband and I live, also because of the amenities and type of service that we received when we first walked in to tour the facility, the number of meals that my parents would be able to get, and the home services that they provide. The room is very spacious and clean. They replace the carpet, repaint, and replace items before they move in. It's a very nice-sized, one-bedroom apartment. It has a living room and a small kitchen. They have a library, weekly concerts or dances, ice cream socials, and a theater. They have lots of little sitting places within the facility. They have an outdoor pool and a pub where people can go in, bring their families, and enjoy each other's company. They have several different restaurants that they can choose from at any time of the day. The people who live there were the ones to stop us and tell us how much they enjoyed living there, so that was really a good sense of what the facility was like and how they treated people. When my folks came to tour, they actually had my parents' name on a sign when they walked in. Their director came and visited with them. I didn't see anything unusual or out of the ordinary that would raise a concern.

My mother lives in Brookdale Overland Park for years now. The only concern was that they continually raise the rent every year. And this year it was just too high of a percent increase. They have activities, and they have a little market there where my mom worked three hours a week, and they also have bingo. They just need to improve overall on their food. The rooms are old and need updating, the appliances are old, and they only had a community washer and dryer. The staff members are very friendly and willing to help as best they can. They just need to do a lot of updating and repairs in the facility.

We toured Brookdale Overland Park 119th. They were very informative and welcoming. They gave us plenty of time. The layout might be challenging for people like my mom who has mobility issues but refused to use motorized devices. To walk that distance to the dining room would be impossible for her. We were shown apartments. They were fine. I don't remember anything negative. We talked about the activities that my mom would have been interested in. She likes bingo, cards and going out to lunch, that kind of stuff. The two staff I met were nice. However, the community needs to improve on the mobility thing and make it easier for people to get to their activities so that you didn't have to go down long hallways and stuff.

I thought Brookdale Overland Park 119th was very neat, very environmentally clean, and the people were very friendly. It's an independent living and I liked the setup and the system that they have there. The person who assisted us during the tour was terrific. She was very, very attentive. She was concerned about our needs and it was just a joy to have her as the tour person that introduced us to the place. I saw the dining area and I liked the setup that they had. I had some food too; it was not a complete meal but it was great. It was well-done, tasty, and very appealing. I noticed that they had dancing and I liked that. They also have an outdoor swimming pool, and I like that because I love swimming.

The gentleman who toured us around Brookdale Overland Park 119th was very good. We saw a lot of activities happening. People seemed to really be happy and busy there. The apartments were pretty standard, but they had in-unit laundry there (that made my mom happy). The place was good. We saw people working on puzzles, and we saw the end of an exercise class. Their dining area was very nice, but we did not try the food. Everything was in good shape. We were impressed. Everybody seemed very nice and happy to be working there. A lot of people had worked there a long time, which is always a good sign.

We considered moving to Brookdale Overland Park 119th. Everything in the main building was independent living. They had two dining rooms and three meals a day. It was three floors and every apartment either had a balcony, or the ground floor had a little yard, and many of them were fenced in, which was interesting to us because we have a dog. We just looked at the two-bedroom, two-bath units. All of the units, even though you had dining, had full kitchens in them. It had a stove, refrigerator, and microwave. It had everything. The staff that we worked with was very, very pleasant, very nice, very knowledgeable, and worked very well. She gave us a very nice tour. They also have a swimming pool. We were there in October and the pool was still open. They keep it open as long as the weather is permitting. During the tour, we were not offered any food. They had a lot of common areas where people could congregate together, a nice library, a great craft room, and a pub where you could get a cocktail in there, and you could get sandwiches. It had a lot to it. It was very pleasant.

I'm staying at Brookdale Overland Park. Not including the finances, this place is a five all the way. Financially, I told them social security is my only income, and they said they can work with that. I think there's no way we can work with that though because they wanted almost $2,250 a month for me to live here, and I don't make that kind of social security, and I've worked forever. One thing that they asked me at another facility I've visited was, "Have you tried to qualify for Veterans' benefits?" My husband, who's dead now, was a veteran, and I think I should have known about that benefit, but nobody said I could here. They mention that in the other place but they never brought that up here. Only the pricing is the drawback here, unless I can figure out some way to get a job at 80-years-old, but not many people would want to jump into that. They have everything here though. They have entertainment, fantastic food, a nice gym, art lessons, and all kinds of social gatherings. They go to Walmart once a month in a bus and they also provide you rides on Tuesdays and Thursdays for doctors' appointments. I don't need that kind of stuff though because I drive. I have my own car. I pay a little extra to have covered parking for my car, I think it's $30-40 a month. My biggest problem is the price. They told me they would not exceed what I could afford. They said their price is just about right, but for me it's way overpriced. It's a beautiful place though.

I visited Brookdale Overland Park 119th physically. It's very nice. The rooms were very nice. They're spacious, and well equipped. They have a little patio or a balcony; they're very, very nice. They offered carports. They got a nice big enough campus space for walking around or to take the pets and let them run around. They pretty much covered all the bases. They're close to a hospital, they're close to shopping, it's definitely one of the nicer ones. I have seen their menus and so on, and they looked very nice. Now with COVID, they have a lot more prepackaged items versus home-made. The staff was awesome; they're helpful. Because of the COVID thing, they would go around daily, and offer snacks to the residents, which I'm sure also helps to make sure the people are up and around, and answering their door. They have a good activity menu. They have other good amenities like a salon, and things like that. I really like Brookdale. It's just too far away from my mom.

I have been living here at Brookdale Overland Park 119th for two years now, and it's good. They offer a lot of things that you can either take advantage or not. When my husband passed, it was going to be hard to keep up with the rent payment, but they adjusted that for me which I'm very happy with. The staff is very courteous, helpful, and supportive. I have no complaints at all. They're all excellent people. They have two main dining rooms and a pub. You can pretty much eat wherever you want. The food is good, very appetizing, well-balanced, and they have three choices every day. They have walking groups, painting groups, puzzle groups, bingo, domino, Wii bowling, and several discussion groups about different hobbies. You can pretty much stay busy any way you want to.

I enjoyed my tour at Brookdale Overland Park 119th. I had a very good lunch there. I didn't feel that their clientele was that much older than me. They're more active and probably in their 80s. However, it was an older building, and their apartments were dated compared to others and not as open. All in all, my opinion of Brookdale is probably 5. It is way up on my top of my list. They have called me several times to check on me and see what I think about it. Actually, they had a Memorial Day picnic that I got invited to. Their meal schedule is more open.

We have visited Brookdale. We really like it. It's probably our first choice. They have tours, shopping, and eating out. It has a very nice homey atmosphere. It's a vibrant community. The residents seem very comfortable. There are lots of friendships and relationships.

I wasn’t there that long at Brookdale. We walked around and looked at everything they had, including two apartments which were nice but too small. I would have to get rid of a lot of furniture, and I don’t want to do that. The staff was very good and tried to help, but I can’t afford a lot, and in both places that we looked, they wanted an extra fee for the second person.

The staff at Brookdale Overland Park 119th are very friendly people. I thought that their living and restaurant facilities were nice. The facility is clean. The rooms were new and kept up, clean, and nice. They have Bible study groups, church services, bridge groups, poker groups, pool, book studies, and other things.

I saw Brookdale. I thought it would be very confusing for my parents because there are too many floors and elevators, and trying to find their way around would be difficult for my parents. It was too confusing to have different things on different floors. The apartments were really nice. I actually like their apartments the best compared to other places I visited. They were properly sized for two people. The staff who assisted me was really nice, too. However, while I was waiting in the main room, the weekend staff there was not friendly. I didn't like them because I thought they were a little disrespectful with attitudes toward the residents. They weren't friendly toward me when I said hello and didn't even smile. They just walked past me and didn't make any effort to introduce themselves or say hi. It was a nice place, but they had too many buildings, and there were a couple of things that I did not think would fit for my mom and dad.

We are considering Brookdale Overland Park, but it's a little bit out of our price range right now. It's a nice, clean, warm, and friendly community. My mom enjoyed her visit there. The meal was great. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and they did a nice job.

Brookdale was excellent. It was a large area that had different levels of care. They have a place to eat, and they furnish transportation to grocery stores and doctors’ appointments. There was a studio apartment available on the ground floor that had a little yard out in front; the fence surrounded it which would have been perfect for my little dog. The staff was excellent, and the rooms were fantastic. They had a place for the band to come in, and there was a place for games. They also have a store there so you could get stuff as you need it. It would've been ideal. It was just really nice.

My mother lives in Brookdale Overland Park. It is lovely. It has a pool. It has everything you could want including all your meals -- if you like meals without seasoning that is. They have to please everybody, so there is no seasoning. My mother's apartment is small, but it is more than adequate for one person. They have all kinds of things for senior citizens to do there. You never have to leave the place if you don't want to. My mother has a one-bedroom -- I believe you can also have two bedrooms. Her room has a balcony, a full service kitchen, a nice bathroom, bedroom, and living room. My mother didn't participate in anything. She didn't even go to meals. I supply all her foods. She's 97, but she still drives. She goes to my house, and she goes and do her shopping. I provide all her food. She likes her food with spice. I believe they have bingo, cards, and knitting, but she does nothing. The staff is fine from what I can see. They do what they do. They are nice. I have no complains and neither does my mother. They provide laundry for bedding once a week and cleaning for the apartment every two weeks. Then again, my mother doesn't have them do anything, but it's there if you want it. However, it will be nice if they come in to clean. That's the reason why my mother stops them. They didn't clean the way she wanted it done: thoroughly. The meals, I have eaten there, and I go "Yuck!" but they have to please so many people. So they are not going to cook Indonesian or Thai or the stuff that I cook that my mother is used to. It is too spicy and too different. It will be nice if they provide a little seasoning to make it taste good.

I have been in Brookdale Place Overland Park for six years. It has been a very good experience, and there are lots of activities. The only problem for us right now is that it is not assisted living although there are quite a few people here who use some extra services that could be assisted living. The surroundings are good and the location is in a very good place as far as the outside things to do; doctors, hospitals, and a lot of things very close. The facility itself has been remodeled in the last two years. There is a very friendly, warm environment from the people who live here. It is a very, very pleasant experience for my husband and I. We've made lots of friends, and I find that the people here are very accommodating, and they want to help you as they can.

Brookdale was a beautiful facility, and it offered a lot to whoever's going to move in there. They had casual and formal dining rooms. They had a lounge and a pool, which could be shared with the families. The place was very clean. I liked all the apartments. They were all beautiful and spacious. I thought they had a lot of room compared to the other places that I had looked at. The people there were very friendly. When the time comes, that's definitely one that I would show my mom to look at. They had a activity area where you could go in and play cards. They also had a library and video checkout area. I saw people playing in there. In the bar, they could convert the tables for people who wanted to play poker or bridge and stuff like that.

I was familiar with Brookdale Place Overland Park because I used to live in that area few years ago, and I have friends from church who live there. It's a fine facility. The only reason that I didn’t get to choose them is because my daughter is moving to Shawnee and she wants me to live closer to her, but I love this place. I used to visit my friends there. The rooms are very good. I like its layout. They have a lot of activities, and the food is good. I would recommend this facility because I think it's very good.

We've chosen Brookdale and we just need to sell our house. I's very nice and had a recent renovation. The staff was wonderful and the residents were very warm and gracious. We saw a wide selection of dishes in the menu and the setting doesn't look institutional but very upscale.

Out of the several places were visited, Brookdale was one of the places we enjoyed the most. The staff were phenomenal. They were very knowledgeable, very open to my parents, and very happy. They introduced them to another couple who they spent dinner with. They have just a lot to offer. They were very helpful in helping us who to contact about VA benefits and we are just hoping that the benefits can be approved so that they can move in. The rooms were very much like just apartment. Everybody has their own patio where they can do their gardening. They have their own kitchenette. They have a cord by their bed and if the resident does not respond by pulling the cord by 10 o'clock in the morning, they will send somebody to check on them. The food is very good and they provide two meals a day. They have three different dining rooms and one is open 24 hours a day. While we were there, they had a jazz concert and dancing. They also offer transportation if they want it. They also offer church services, they have a barber shop, and a salon.

My husband and I used to stay at Overland Park for a little less than a year. The living environment was really good and homey. We had a very nice apartment with one bedroom and a back porch that led out into the hall way which was very nice. It had a lot of upscale people as it was in the upscale area. The staff was good. The food was excellent. I would still be there, if I could afford it, but couldn't afford it. I just think they need to address on the dining room situation because they had two separate dining rooms. If you went in and you sat down at an empty spot and it was somebody else's place, they'll tell you to move and that's against the policy rule but there's nothing they could do about it because these people had money. Also, every floor had a laundry but it was a hassle. I would recommend it to others, but don't be thinned skinned when you went into the dining room

We visited Brookdale Place Overland Park and it was very upscale. The facility was clean, excellent and they had a lot of fun stuff to do. The rooms were clean, very bright and had everything that they needed. The dining room was fine. It was a really nice place but it was a little out of our price range.
