This place is a diamond. The staff is wonderful. The new administrator is very knowledgeable and polite. The appearance of the building is dated but keep up. Residents are always out of their rooms and the care seems wonderful. Very happy.

The rooms are very nice.the food is bad they try hard but always short handed so don't get rooms cleaned as good or attention needed for the money you pay. Can't really blame it all on staff. Tho have seen them just sitting a lot.
Very Happy for Mom

There is no full time nursing staff and no one above LPN level at all on site. Most staff are kind, but after almost 3 years there, mom FINALLY has trash removed regularly. Facility needs updating.

I have recently moved a parent from an assisted living facility to here. They had been at the other for three years. At Homestead I was able to communicate in very clear terms my concerns for my parent, and they were very candid as well as transparent as well. It is easy to tell that this group works well as a team and are tied together with good communication and this was a huge problem where we had come from! Everyone has been upbeat, constantly interacting with the residents and genuinely care for them. After 3 years at another location we are leaps and bounds ahead here in just a few weeks! I can see a very significant difference in my parent due to the relationships and stimulation that they receive on an every day basis.

visiting this place is a great smoke screen.Have a parent there and am scared about most of the qualifications the employees have.Mostly management.High turnover rate and inside knowledge of why the good employees are being terminated.Find a family member in the parking lot while visiting ask questions then run.

The facility was in good shape. People were nice and it was an overall positive place. The rooms were a fair size and had kitchinettes even. There was also dining rooms and I believe meals are provided. They talked about how staff could go to the store if needed. They also have events and trips that are planned for those interested, and the fraternities and groups from KSU even help out from time to time at the facility. My impression was a very good one overall. The place seemed more like apartments than an assisted living home! I would definitely recommend it and if I ever need a loved one to find an assisted living facility, I would consider this one with out a doubt. I would assume that the Homestead of Manhattan would cost more than other homes though, since they provide extremely good service. If not, then it seems like a very good place for one to live.

In 2008 I was considering moving into an Assisted Living Facility due to major, chronic, health problems. I toured several facilities and 'The Homestead' was, by far, the best of the lot. It was much like a 5 star hotel. The rooms are average size studio apartments complete with kitchenette and a bathroom well designed for handicapped people. The bathroom even had a radiant heating system in the ceiling to keep one warm after bathing. Although the apartments have a kitchenette there is a dining room where 3 meals a day are provided. The halls and rooms are very quiet. There is a beauty salon/barber shop on site. The staff are extremely courteous and helpful. They will even make trips to Walmart to pick up items the residents may need between their regular shopping trips. There are numerous events and trips planned. Some of the Fraternities, from the local college, also come in periodically to help the residents with whatever they need as well as helping with the events and trips. I decided against moving there as I was able to line up enough assistance to continue living on my own.
