I was a resident of Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living. I felt very safe and felt like I was a very important person in their facility. The staff were very helpful, and they always came with a smile. The food was very good, but they needed to check their heating table. Sometimes, their vegetables came to the table a little cool. I saw everything from severe stroke individuals to persons like myself that couldn't get out and do a little bit but just couldn't do it for themselves. The rooms were very nice. They were more than I had expected or anticipated. They were especially inviting. The activity director was Missy, and she made certain that activities were available both morning and afternoon. She'd take the residents out into the courtyards, and she was very interested in making certain that everyone felt good about it. They have a very fine therapy department. I was put way down in a hallway, and some days, I had to wheel up myself. I felt like they were making me a lot stronger in the upper torso, but it was just a long way to get to dinner. The staff there was exceptional. They acted like they cared about you. They knew each patient by name and would visit with you and talk to you as they were working. It was just a very delightful situation to be in if you had to be away from home. It was very clean. All the help that was there to clean did a superb job. The activities were well-planned, and there were activities both morning and in the afternoons. The activity director would take you outside on a decent day. Some of the days were very hot, so we didn't go. In terms of value for money, I am a rural Kansas person, so when I was paying for it myself, it was very expensive, but when Medicare picked up, it was very nice.

I toured Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living. The staff was very nice and very cooperative. The rooms looked very acceptable. They had one bedroom, a living room, and a kitchenette, but they only had one bathroom in each apartment. Even though their rate for assisted living was less expensive, the one bathroom was not acceptable to us. I saw the dining area, and it was very nice.

Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living was a newer facility, but it was a large facility. I was thinking about older people having to get around and use walkers there. It felt a bit overwhelming in that regard. It was a newer facility, so color schemes, paint, carpet, and all of those kinds of things seemed a bit fresher. Rooms were very adequate for one person. It was very clean and very crisp. The staff were friendly, helpful, encouraging, and professional. There was a courtyard. There was an activities room and an exercise room with a bit of exercise equipment in there.

I visited Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community, but they've expanded significantly since I was there. I was trying to decide whether I was going to have my wife go over there for a short-term PT. 80% of the facilities are brand new. It's just very well done. The safety factors were very good. For an assisted living situation, they were very good. The food was nourishing, it was done well, but it just was institutional-like you'd get in the hospital. It was certainly not individualized. In other words, you didn't have menus where you can get different things. I was able to visit all three care levels. They're not in the same building, there are three different units, but they are all on the same campus and yes, I've visited all of them. I thought activities were lacking. If people were doing activities, it was mostly with friends or relatives. It was not with the staff, it was with other people. Virtually all of the interaction was with other people and not with the staff. I wasn't all that pleased with the staff, but they were just staffing up because they've expanded. Because of the expansion that they have done, they were in the major hiring when I was there, so I wouldn't have put my wife there at the time because of the staff. The facilities were very good. They're brand new, they're state-of-the-art and they're very well done.

My father is living in Pioneer Ridge now, and it is adequate. There is not as much engagement with the residents that I would like. There are no real activities that my father is interested in, and the transition moving there was not good. The staff is nice, but they are just not around a lot. His room is a studio, and it is adequate. The repairs haven’t been kept-up, and there are obviously patched holes in the walls. It is not anything to get really excited about.

My friend has lived at Pioneer Ridge for a long time, and I visit her regularly. I was impressed with the care that she was given. They have a huge building. Everything that I have heard from people who have been there was that they were satisfied. When I was visiting my friend, they had bingo going on, and I know they have Bible study. They play bingo in the dining room. They have an aviary that some of the seniors really enjoy.

My father stayed at Pioneer Ridge for two weeks for rehab for recovery and really liked it. The help was very prompt, very positive, and cheerful. It was quiet when you needed to sleep at night. There was a TV, refrigerator, chair, and bathroom. He seemed to think the food was fine.

We chose Pioneer Ridge as it has access to friends and family. The staff seems to be very nice, and my father was very impressed. They came from another retirement community, and the staff here is friendlier than the staff down there. The rooms and apartments are fairly small but enough. One thing I found was while we were comparing that a couple of places we looked at were not ADA accessible. The food is significantly less but adequate. They have ice cream socials as part of their activities.

My mother is in Pioneer Ridge. They have an excellent staff. The neighborhood is very nice. It is a beautiful place. They also have an assisted living portion. It is one of their many aspects. It has a little bit of everything.
