The Waukon Living Center first of all is located essentially next-door to the town hospital, which is large with many services for the size of the town. My grandmother currently lives in the Waukon Living Center and has been living there for a couple of years now. She has a host of problems both physically and mentally, but the staff at the Waukon Living Center seem to be more than adequately trained to deal with her and others like her.All rooms in the Waukon Living Center are the same, one standard for all. They come with a full bathroom, nice-sized living room and bedroom, and a surprisingly large kitchen. My grandmother requires a slew of different medications that are difficult to keep track of, and the staff there knows what she needs when she needs it, and brings them to her. A staff member also takes her to the nearby hospital once-a-week or more for her appointments. The Waukon Living Center is fairly sparse when it comes to amenities, but they have a large comfortable lounge with a big screen television and cable that the residents can lounge in. The lounge doubles as the cafeteria, which serves lunch every day. The residents have to take care of supper themselves, and breakfast if they want it.Perhaps the largest downside to the Waukon Living Center is the cost. I am not sure of the exact price per month, but I believe it is the most expensive nursing home or assisted-living center in town, and by a considerable margin.Overall, my grandmother seems to be satisfied with living at the Waukon Living Center, and cost-aside, it seems to be a very nice place to live.
