Oakland Heights is nice and small. It is in a rural community, which meets my mom's needs. She has a lot in common with the other residents. The care is excellent. They are not nickel and dime use. At so many places we looked at, everything she needs is another add-on or another fee. Whereas here, more of the stuff is included in the base price. They have bingo. They have chapels. They have piano players come in. They have a Wii. There is a lot of stuff. There are only 12 people, but they take them to Walmart, and they go out to eat. They have a lot of activities for them. They offer transportation, but up to this point, my sister still takes her to the regular doctors. The exception of that is she doesn't have to go to her foot doctor to have her nails trimmed because they can do it on site. She has three meals a day. They eat in the dining room. For a limited number of times, they can eat in their room like if they are sick of something, but otherwise, they go knock on their door. The staff is very friendly. She likes them a lot. If she needs something for maintenance, she just tells them what she needs, and they come and do it. She loves the staff. They keep her very clean. They do help her with housekeeping in her room once a week. They come and take out her trash every day, and the common areas are also clean.
