About Terrace Glen Village in Marion, Iowa
We are a senior living community in West Des Moines, and we offer four levels of living: independent living, assisted living, short-term rehab, and long-term care. We don’t like to think of ourselves as a typical senior living community or a nursing home — we’re a family. Every resident is treated with care and served with a smile every day.
At Cedar Ridge Village, our staff has a philosophy of care that is implemented into the everyday operations. Our philosophy is to include dignity, quality, choices, respect and community into what we provide every day. We always strive to fulfill our vision using the value statement as a guide.

My sisters and my Dad have been taking turns with Mom in her room for B/L/D as she needs a bit of support. Currently, she can eat some things on her own, but still needs assistance. She suffers from Dementia and Parkinson's. Due to swallowing issues, she has trouble with bread products and harder stuff such as raisins. My sister had been creating a menu with things crossed off and items circled for about 3 months. We like to work with her in the privacy of her own room. They have been bringing Mom a tray that has items on it that my sister had crossed off. This has happened at each meal service. In my humble opinion, the Home seems more about the Buck ($$) and not about the actual care of my Mom.

I did a tour of Terrace Glen Village. It was beautiful and very inviting. The staff was very friendly. The place is beautiful, and the upkeep and maintenance are very good.

I toured Terrace Glen Village. I mean, they were great. It's a beautiful facility, and friendly staff, and the reason why I chose not to go there was that they separate their assisted living and their independent living. Two separate wings, two separate dining halls, and I decided it is better for my dad to come and go with people that were a little bit more independent because he's right on the verge of needing some assistance, but he's pretty independent. The rooms were very nice, very, very clean. They have tours and all kinds of fun things for them to do outside and inside. It was more expensive, and price is a concern, but it's a really nice facility.

Terrace Glen Village was nice, but not as nice as the others, and the activities were minimal in comparison. We weren't very impressed with the food. The amenities were nice, but not as comprehensive as the other places. The marketing people were nice.
