My father has moved into Stoney Point Meadows. The staff is exceptionally pleasant and accommodating. He's in a studio apartment. It does not have carpeting, and the air handling system is sort of like in a hotel. It's like a big unit on the wall as opposed to just an integrated heating and air-conditioning system in the building. Both of those things lend it to have a little bit more of an institutional, sterile feel to it. Other than that, it is very well done and very nice. The food is perfectly designed for an elderly farmer from Iowa, meat and potatoes, very culturally focused on the type of clientele that they serve. The place is new, well designed, and well cared for. It is on the edge of town, so it has a nice mix of suburban and rural feel to it. They are doing a good job of walking the fine line of safety and independence, but the entire pandemic has resulted in the social aspects of the residents being pretty limited, and that's not their fault. We're really pleased. They were exceptionally accommodating around the uncertainty of the timing of him moving in. We worked around all kinds of different dates and different urgencies that we had to work through, and they were phenomenally accommodating with that.

I toured Stoney Point Meadows this morning. It's new, and it's beautiful. It is absolutely beautiful, but it is a big place. The staff who toured me was very knowledgeable. Their staff have been with them for more than three years, and the nursing staff as well. They provide all the care that memory care patients need. They have a salon, and they have a courtyard. They have lots of public areas. It's on the outskirts of town. The rooms were very good. They had a little kitchenette in each one of the memory care units, which most places don't have in memory care.

I'm leaning towards Stoney Point Meadows because they're a newer place. It's a newer building. The room is a lot bigger for the amount of money. It's a new building, so they don't need any upkeep yet. I've seen the food and it looked very good. Everything is included in the price. They have a lot more amenities than the other facility.
