We decided to have mom at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa, because they had an opening, and compared to other places in the area, their price is a little bit more reasonable. The staff is very nice and very helpful. Her room is very nice and clean. It's a studio. The food is very good. They have bingo and an exercise class in the morning.

My father-in-law was at Miller's Merry Manor. They had people that were very caring. They had either an Amish or Mennonite cook. The food was very good. The rooms were clean, but they were having to use a lot of help from different agencies. There wasn't always continuity of care between people. For the elderly to have people change every week as they start to get used to someone and it takes time to get used to your patient, that would be the big thing. They want to do a good job and they try. They want to do good care. It's a Christian small facility. It might be very appropriate for someone else. They're good people. It's in the country; it just wasn't the right facility for him. Then there were a few things, and that's where he went septic twice. They're lovely Christian people. They are caring people. They do respond to problems. The social workers were very good with him trying to do what he needed for them. There were lots of pluses. If we had to put him back there for whatever reason, we would consider them again, but it felt more like we needed to keep a closer eye down there. Their personal long-term staff was good. It's a Christian caring place. They did beautiful decorations. It's an older facility, but it's kept very clean and maintained. It's an older building. They have pretty grounds. They did a nice job. They decorated and they had flowers and plants. They had sidewalks that people could walk around, or you could take somebody out in a wheelchair. It's a rural area, so some people really like that. The food was not the same as the chef at the other facility, but it was home cooking Amish-Mennonite, good solid food.

Nursing staff are not attentive to the needs of the long term nursing home parients. some nurses laugh at their patients misery. The staff paint their own nails while ignoring patient call lights. The director does not return calls when there is a problem. They Medically sedated my grandmother while she was having a heart episode. Nurses said she was pretending and faking dizziness and illness just to get attention. Quality of life doesn't matter to this facility- they ignore patient needs by sedation to have easy shifts, allowing nurses to spend time gossiping and to get on their cell phones. Neglectful staff.

My mother is in Miller's Merry Manor, and we're very happy with them. They check up on her and make sure she's taking her meds and cleaning her room. I have seen other places offer more things to do than what this one does, but it's not a huge community either. She likes everything there and has not complained about the food. The staff seems to be very helpful and polite, not snarky or anything. The place is very spacious with big hallways, the rooms and bedrooms are very nice.

The rooms at Miller's Merry Manor are clean. They have one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms. They have a bunch of games, like bingo on Wednesday, card games, and a pool table. The staff is nice, and the food is good. It’s in a historical town, so you can go walk around this little town, where there’s quite a bit of little things.

My mom didn't do a lot of activities while she was at Miller's Merry Manor. But they were very caring people. The nurses were great. They treated her like family. We didn't feel like we're in an institution and we just felt comfortable with them. We really got to know them during the five months that she was there. It was a really good experience. The food was good, service was great, and the variety was great.

My mother has been a resident in the rehab area of Miller's Merry Manor twice. Her room and care were outstanding. I have also seen the long-term care rooms. They are large and clean, very plain but family can decorate with their loved one's furniture and make any changes to make the room feel more like home. Those rooms do not have a very good outdoor view, though the rehab pods do and are more like suites with beautiful interior decorating. All are private rooms. Miller's does not accept Medicaid patients.
