After making it nearly 70 years living independently my great-grandmother finally has had to move to a community that can better care for her. She moved into Oakwood about 3 years ago. The first time I went to visit her I didn't exactly expect to be wow'ed by her living conditions. Most similar places I've been in our area seem to be little more then places to house the sick and dying. The first thing I noticed in Oakwood was the feeling that I was in more of a community instead of a hospital type setting. The main lobby is nicely decorated, the grounds are well kept, and there seemed to be plenty of commons areas with people actually using them playing cards. I didn't find my grandmother bed-ridden in her room but had to use one of the helpful employees roaming the halls to direct me to an area where she and some of her new friends were playing cards. From numerous other wonderful visits I can say that Oakwood Health Campus is definitely leagues above pretty much every other assisted living community in this area. Everything from the staff to the amenities is top notch.

My mother was a resident at Oakwood Health Campus for 13 months. The entire staff went above and beyond in the care of her. They had special entertainment, games, and plenty of things for her to do. They catered to her requests as much as possible. She was able to stay in a private room, so she was able to have her own rocking chair, storage cabinets, and stuff from home. They took care of her in the best way they could. My mom passed away while in there. They were very respectful of our wishes and our privacy. If the time comes to have to put another family member in a home, I would definitely use Oakwood again.
