I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law is on the 5th floor dementia Lockdown. She is doing so much better than she was at home. Her clothes are clean and the floor is very clean and bed is very clean. The staff is very attentive and nice and caring. The Head nurse is excellent and the social services person is on top of things. We had some family issues and they were all involved and took all precautions needed. I cannot comment on the food because I have never eaten it but she eats all of it and says its good.

I've been at Munster Med-inn for six months now. It's more like rehab and a nursing home than like assisted living, but I get around and I come and go. You got the Dollar Tree, Taco Bell, and Burger King here, you got all those places around here where I can walk to. My family is close, and one of the reasons why I don't want to go anywhere is because I have everything here. I don't have a problem with anything. I'm sure assisted living has more activity than we have here, but they do pretty well with activities and all. I just got done watching a movie. They had a big movie thing and they got popcorn. My room is fine. I don't have a roommate. I got the room all to myself. And that's another reason, too. If I had to be with somebody, then I'd be gone. I'm in a private room. For activities, they go to bingo. They had an ice cream thing the other day. They had movies. They have people that come in and entertain. They have all kinds of things that they do. I'm not disappointed with that at all. I think the activity people do what they can the best they can. They do a fabulous job. I'm taken care of well. I'm not complaining. Food could be a little bit better, but food is like that everywhere you go. I have no problems with the staff, too. The value for money is reasonable.

I can only comment on applicable exposures in the care of my mother going through rehab. The rooms are adequate but would be an advantage where applicable if there was a safe in the room where requested. The food is fair and the only complaint is the veggies are overcooked and bland. The staff are helpful enough but their plates are full. The non-skilled help are pleasant but was surprised to find they are outsourced so service and training are an extreme hardship to find quality help for the nurses and staff. The rehab crew are excellent and diligent. My complaint would be the phone service. The phone rings and rings especially when transferred to a staff or nursing station. They could use a full time receptionist with backup and not a recorder. It is important to communicate with personnel. With budget concerns an extra person to answer calls at each station would help frustrated callers. Continuous improvements should not be hindered by budgets and realize this is a difficult task caring for the old and rehabbing patients. So if rehab is your main concern, this has excellent ratings from me.

Do not place anyone at this facility. When calling this place to get updates It was impossible! No one answers the phones there. Also was never allowed to visit! They would always blame covid but I dont believe them. Finally when my family member was discharged from rehab she looked awful. Couldn’t even walk and seemed very drugged up! Also was missing her dentures! I asked about them and they said they were in her bag with belongings. When I got home and checked she only had her upper dentures and missing her bottom dentures. I’m sure that’s why she wasn’t wearing them so I wouldn’t question where are the bottom teeth. She looked so frail and like a skeleton! Bruises on her face and hands too And bloody lips. She went there just for rehab after a brief hospital stay and ended up being in worse condition ever! I called to talk many times to someone and never got a return call or no one ever answers! Keep your loved ones away from this place! I’ve heard nothing but horror stories since now about this place! This place needs to be shut down!

Kitchen staff apparently cannot read instructions in english. Routinely ignores allergies preferences and requests. Medicines are very late often 3 hours for pain meds. Scripts run out and reorders not made until after all gone. Deliveries from pharmacy promised by afternoon most times do not arrive at all or not until 4 am. Call buttons usually answered in 20-30 minutes (long time when you are bleeding). Toilets routinely clog / overflow. Housekeeping staff retired/quit so very little cleaning if any. Calls for maintenance after 5 or on weekends are almost always just left as messages instead of using ON CALL numbers. Overflowing toilets cannot wait till Monday!!! Bottom line: Be Very Afraid...

If zero stars was an option that’s what this place would receive. Our Mom was sent there from the hospital & immediately we knew it was the wrong choice. The only staff she said was nice was the physical therapists. The nursing staff was cruel! Why are you in this field if you don’t care for patients?! She suffered from C-diff & would push the call button. She said they wouldn’t come for 30 minutes! By then she’d have accidents that she was already embarrassed by — then to get yelled at for it! Food was cold & gross. She ran out of minutes on her cellphone, we would beg them to give her a message, BEG & they would promise to & never did. We had no way to talk to her. Five of us siblings spent hours trying to get ahold of a live person to get an update on her condition. Unfortunately she had to spend her birthday there. She was sent candy & flowers by my brother. She received the flowers but apparently staff seemed to have eaten her candy. We picked her up after two weeks & hardly recognized her. Felt like she was being held hostage. We got her moved to a facility closer to us & just to get them to fax over paperwork was another issue. Finally the administration of the new facility had to contact them because after promising us they wouldn’t sent it over. The real kicker? They LOST HER FALSE TEETH! Didn’t bother to call or let us know. Nothing like kicking the elderly when they are down. Feel horrible for the people there that have no one standing up for them.

Great place for Rehabilitation service. My father was transferred from community hospital to Munster Med Inn after his surgery. My family was concern about nursing homes in general, but this place exceeded our expectations. The CNAs did an excellent job in caring for my father. The therapy was great. I will recommend this place any time and day.

My father was a resident here about five years ago for three months. All was fine then. Clean and had people that really cared. Unfortunately he needed rehab again. This is here he wanted to return. He had also been in symphony and Hartsfield. Those places were excellent except his insurance was no longer accepted. So he had no choice. He has only been in three days and seven out of nine meals were ice cold. He sent them back or ate ice cold meals. They could not take the time to check. They would drop it off and run. Wish there were other places that he could go to. They even saw candy on his dresser and would help them selves. Oh how places change. The room was clean though. The only good part was the therapy staff.

I came in to visit my family member and I wanted to write a review. The place was so nice and clean. Every member of staff was nice to my aunt and were very nice to me. My aunt had a procedure done and had to find a place for care because we are unable to care for her at home. This place makes her feel right at home. She loves ice cream and the parlor makes it easy for her to feel at home. She said the nurses are so nice to her and make sure she understands her treatment. it was hard for us to have to make this decision to have her come a facility because she likes being home but we have found the perfect fit in Munster Med inn. I will highly recommend this place to anyone looking for care for a loved one. I want to say THANK YOU FOR LOVING MY AUNT!

Our first impression for Munster Med-Inn was favorable. They seemed to have a couple of choices there that was looking like it might be something we would consider. My father was admitted there for a short time, but how he was being cared for was discouraging. The staff was overworked. The rooms were fine and seemed clean. He had been restricted to the one floor where he was located, but the other floor they had which was not locked down seemed to give the patients a lot of freedom to move around. Geographically speaking, it would have been great for where the family was located, but we did not have such a great experience there. The pricing did not seem out of line with the different places we were looking at.

My mom was in a therapy in Munster Med Inn. It was nice. I didn’t have any problems with it. The place was clean. The staff was good to her. The room was really clean and nice. She had like a small couch and a chair next to the bed. She had a small fan to control the temperature in her room. She had a small fridge where she put her snacks. She had a TV. The staff was very nice. They had a good staff. They were a little short-handed though.

I can only speak of our experience on the memory floor as my impression was that the Med-inn may have been a very different experience for patients who are not on the memory floor. The physical therapy and the occupational therapy staff was not trained nor prepared to deal with the dementia patients. My uncle was only in the facility for five days, including a weekend, and I was told that he was not amenable to physical therapy and occupational therapy. He was labelled immediately as combative, and I truly feel that they capped him there for 20 days or for a limited period of time as a Medicare patient. My uncle’s stay was very detrimental to him. He deteriorated significantly, was severely overmedicated, and when we finally moved him, our experience at the next place was like night and day. The memory floor was extremely depressing. It’s a very confined area and although there were spaces that the residents and their families could use for visiting and activities, the facility basically limited the movement of the residents and their families pretty significantly. Most of the activities during the day, if you’re a regular visitor, occurred around the nursing station. They did have activities but the activities, in my opinion, were not resident-based and generally activities not particularly designed with the dementia patient in mind. It is not a resident-based facility. They put him in the memory unit, and it was a very sad place to be. I thought their activities were extremely deficient in terms of their lack of focus on individual residents and the lack of therapeutic value in any of their activities. The rest of the facility, which the memory patients do not have access to, was really quite nice.

This place has issues, Aside from the bad plumbing (no hot water ) many of the staff are indifferent and just plain mean to the residents. Many will give you dirty looks for just visiting. Some will raise their voice at you. The elevator is mostly keyed off by the staff so you can't use it. Everyone claims to not know why. THe apathy of the nurses is palpable, and the lack of empathy by virtually all is troublesome.

I would not rate Munster Med-inn very highly. I think it is a one-star rating based on the State rating. It is not the greatest place. It’s a four-story building with only two elevators for all of the residents. It’s not ideal. It is a very old building. Mom has been here for three years and we do not want to move her at this point. But if I had to do it all over again, I would not put her in there. They don’t have sufficient staff. The RNs are so busy and spread out so thinly that they don’t really have time to spend with their patients; they just basically administer meds. Then they rotate the RNs from floor to floor, so they really don’t get to know their patients’ needs very well. They have a very high turnover of staff. They have a physical therapy floor. They have a full-time Activities Director who has a good staff, so they have activities for the patients to get involved in.

Munster Med Inn is the one we took a tour of. It was fine. It looked clean, and they were very helpful, but we ran into a Medicaid problem, so we can't get my mother-in-law in right now. The rooms seemed small, and she would have shared a room with another person. They had a dementia unit too, so that would have been good.

Mom is currently at Munster Med Inn and doing well. It's a fine facility, and she is in a private room. It's spacious and comfortable. She was also in a semi-private room, but her private room was much nicer. She had a good experience and then a so-so experience. Their food is pretty good, and most of the time she is content with the food. I think they have a lot of things going on. She made friends there and they go down to dining together. There are activities and there are a lot of things for them to do.

As far as the staff goes, they knew what they were doing but they were not very kind or helpful. I remember times when Mrs. Lampropoulos wouldn't be in her room and when we would ask where she was, they would tell us they didn't know, maybe she was in this room or that room. I'm sorry, but my aunt's mother did not speak English very well and needed a lot of help, so you would think they would always know where she is, just like they should know where everyone is. Beyond the sometimes rude and unhelpful staff, the facilities were nice enough and by several things for our family to do, when they needed to take a break. There was ample parking as well. Inside there was a music room with a piano that I remember sitting in with Mrs. Lampropoulos, it had big windows and beautiful plants inside it as well.
