Sycamore Reserve is more for just senior living rather than assisted living and that suited me really well. I like the arrangement of the apartments and it's a nice place. It's a very nice place to live in. Everybody I met was friendly, they just didn't overdo their sales pitch and they let me reach my own decisions. They always explain how things are, and that was nice. They have 14 different floor arrangements in their apartments. Everyone I met on the staff was just real down-to-earth, polite and nice. They didn't mind joking with the residents, and they're very friendly. They were having some entertainment, a group was playing music and singing. Now, there weren't too many attending that. They were getting ready to set up the happy hour in the main lobby and were setting it up when I got there. The people were sitting around, talking and having a drink. When getting there, the traffic is the only drawback that I can see. It's located near a community hospital and that's where my doctors are affiliated with. They gave me a menu, they have a continental breakfast every morning, a nice lunch, and you can have whatever you want. It's just pretty nice. They had a nice dining room. On the upkeep, they had a cleaning service that I could get if I wanted it. Each one of the apartments had its own laundry, a washer, and a dryer, so you wouldn't have to hire anybody to do it for you. And I can have my grandkids come and visit, and they say I don't have to do any yard work. There's a nice swimming pool which is open when the city pools are open. And they haven't been open because of the COVID. The people taking the tour had to wear a mask. It was well kept up. One or two of the apartments that we've looked up were still under renovation. After residents leave an apartment they always go in and redo everything.

We liked the fact that Sycamore Reserve is just independent living. My grandmother will be 101 this weekend, but she can still take care of herself, so we didn't want for her to be in a community where she will be forced into assisted living based on her age. We don't feel like she's going to be ready for that. Every time I'm there, and I've been there multiple times, I've had very positive experiences. The residents were really friendly, and that's one thing we didn't get from other places. They would come up and talk to us. They even crashed the meetings that I had with their director, and that's really cute. The apartment we chose was a studio because she doesn't walk very well. We thought a smaller space would be better, but their studios were very spacious and very affordable. She's on a budget, and it's well below her budget. I didn't eat their food, but I like the way that it's set up. It's like a restaurant: you go in, you order from a menu, and it's cooked to order. They allow pets, too, and several dogs live there. To me, that's pretty welcoming because every time I walk in there, they have lots of very well-behaved dogs in the lobby. It's a very welcoming atmosphere. They're very accommodating, and they have all the amenities that we wanted for my grandma and more. They have a swimming pool, a gym, and a theater. They have a lot of activities; it's very busy there. It's extremely clean. They were working on several of the apartments, they're doing a lot of updates, and they're working on the one we picked for my grandmother. It's going to be customized; they're going to customize her bathroom and her living space. Everything will be practically brand new. Her kitchen will have a gorgeous, brand-new, stainless-steel refrigerator, and it was exceptional. I really like it there. They remember me, and I'm not even living there, but every time I go in, they all say "hi." They're all very welcoming. On the first visit I met not only their general director, but I actually met the owner, too. He was very nice and very accommodating. I also met their activities director and their chefs. They're all very welcoming and very warm, and I felt like they were very excited about my grandmother coming. I've had to reschedule some meetings, and they never had a problem with it.

My mother-in-law is moving into Sycamore Reserve. We had a wonderful experience, and we really liked it. The staff is very friendly, very outgoing, and very understanding of seniors and their needs. It's a really friendly place. The apartments are exceptional. Everything is high quality. The way the rooms are set up are unique. The studio has a separation in between it, like an armor, but it's big. We like the storage, and the bathrooms are huge. Everything is very nice. They have restaurant style dining, so you just order from a menu. They have food all day long that you can go and get. They have a real nice dining room, and they have a patio that you can also dine out on. They have a pool, a dog walk, they allow pets, and a nice garden area. I haven't sampled their food, but it looks good. My daughter went to see it first and they gave her a meal, and she said it was excellent.

I wanted to move my father into Sycamore Reserve. I loved it. It was spectacular. It's a new facility, and they designed it with seniors in mind. There were no issues with bathtubs, first floors or second floors or elevators being not in service. They had fantastic cleanliness and a lot of classes to help keep people as independent as possible. They had an incredible events coordinator, and the owner of the facility is in his 70s, which I love, because he's a senior himself. They had a personal chef, and the residents can choose off of a menu. It's beautiful inside and out.
