It offers affordable, comfortable and convenient housing for independent living for limited income elderly and certain handicapped persons. A historical renovation, this building is a landmark in the borough of Shoemakersville, Berks County. The monthly fee includes maintenance of building and grounds, water and sewer, trash removal, local property taxes, emergency call system, secure entry system, and all utilities except telephone and cable television.

This solidly built red-brick complex occupies a lot of its own on a narrow two-lane country highway that's cut into the hills between Shamokin and the Susquehanna River. Overlook Ridge provides independent senior living with nursing and rehabilitation services in a welcoming, home-like environment. The one-bedroom apartments at Overlook Ridge have their own tea kitchens and private bathrooms. Staff at the facility can provide assistance with some activities of daily living, as well as medication monitoring and reminders. Seniors who live in the Overlook Ridge facility get two meals prepared daily and served in the common dining room area. Residents can also opt to take meals in their private apartments.
