My family member has been here since 2012. Not impressed with the services. The room smelled terrible. Her body seemed unlearned. So I asked for water and soap to clean her.. The quality of foul air was discussing. In her room with three other patients unconscious. I'm looking into other facilities. This is not the place you want your love ones to be.

In general I thought this nursing home was fair. This facility is in Richton Park, Illinois on Cicero avenue next to a field and woods in the back. I was there to visit with a resident. This facility is pretty far from Chicago and it took me close to an hour to get there. There is parking in the front. In the back is an enclosed patio where residents can sit. There are picnic like tables there and chairs. The facility seems to be out in nowhere and there was a lot of litter blowing around the parking lot the day I was there. The lobby is small, but warm and inviting. There was a Christmas tree, poinsetta and two love seats and a lovely carpet. The receptionist was nice to me, but she seemed a bit indifferent about the residents. In fact that was the feeling that I got in general about the staff. They were nice, but either tired or worn or both and seldom looked up from their work behind their stations. There are four floors to this brick building. The first floor has the most independent residents and there is a festive-looking dining room. The fourth floor is the dementia unit. In general the floors were clean, although somewhat institutionalized looking. In the bedrooms that I saw, the beds were small and they looked old. Most of the rooms had two beds in them, although some had three or four. The television sets were not modern. While I was there the residents were friendly. Patients have a variety of disabilities. One of the residents needed to go to the washroom and a nurse said she would have to wait. Overall I would say Glenshire was average and I would not recommend it one way or the other. It seems affordable and would probably be okay as long as there was a family member or close friend near by who would make sure that the patient was getting the care that he/she needed.
