My tour at The Pointe at Pontiac was good, but the problem with that was that it's probably 400 square feet, and it just wasn't enough room. To move from a big house into this suportive living place, it was too small. It's a really nice place, but it was just too small for what I need now. They provide all of your meals, snacks, and meds, but it was too drastic of a move from my big house to this. The administrator that I spoke with was very nice and knowledgeable. This place was newly built in 2009/2010, so it was immaculate. I had been to other nursing homes, and this one was a lot cleaner and nicer, so that made a difference. They have a wonderful activity director and they always have something going on, which is a plus. They're very accommodating.

I’ve looked at Woodridge, and I think I’m leaning toward there. It’s similar to where she’s staying now. It’s not as big, has a nice dining room, and is an assisted living place. The price is within the range of what I could afford. The first thing that I noticed when I walked in was a glass window where I could see the dining room with people eating and looking happy. The person I was looking for was right there among the clients serving them coffee, which impressed me that she was in there with them. As she walked me through, the residents responded to her, and she talked to them. I liked the dining room and the layout, but I don’t know the quality of it yet. I do know someone who is there, and I talked to them briefly. Price, convenience, and the way I felt about it knowing people there, I’m pretty decided on them. They do have an opening and will also take a dog, which my mother owns, so I think I’m going to start the process of seeing if I can get her there.
