Lake Barrington Woods is a nice place for seniors. My mother, who recently passed, lived in the facility (independent living) for over 3 years and she liked it very much. The staff was considerate, kind, friendly and helpful to the residents and visitors. My mother enjoyed her stay at LBW and she made a lot of friends while she lived there. This is a facility that a senior should strongly consider when looking for a place to reside.

Lake Barrington Woods was a lovely facility. They had very nice people working there. The food was just outstanding. They had a wonderful chef there. They had nice-sized rooms. The studio apartment was large at 450 square feet. They had a kitchen in each room. They had a beautiful patio outside for the residents to enjoy, which included a koi pond. Everything was decorated just beautifully.

I went to Lake Barrington Woods. The lady who met us was very informative and very helpful. She took us on a tour of the facilities. They were very nice, very clean and very modern. We went to one room, which was a two-bedroom and it was very nice. She showed us about eight different floor plans. It seemed like they had a tremendous amount of activities all day. They had a varied menu for the meals. They offer breakfast and dinner every day, seven days a week. They offered a choice of outside parking or inside heated parking. They have a library and a courtyard and a very extensive fitness center. It's very nice and very modern, and the apartment she showed us had a very large kitchen that's well equipped and had large closets. They had a washer and dryer per room. The staff was very helpful, very patient, and very willing to take time for us. The building was very big, and the halls were very long. We did not have any meals, but she gave us a menu for that day and it was very extensive and had lots of choices. All the utilities are included plus they have a deal where you get a button to wear if you need it, so that in case you have an emergency, you just press the button and help comes.

We did a tour of Lake Barrington Woods. The facility is very nice with some luxury accommodations. I like the staff. The facility grounds are very well taken care of. They have nice size apartments available and lots of amenities. I met some of the residents. It's a very lively group. It looks like a fun place to be. They have apartments available that are studios, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedrooms that available for independent living and available for assisted living. It's very spacious, and the apartment was newly updated. It has great views. It was the manager that took us on the tour. We were concerned about the caretaking and whether it was going to meet my mom's needs because she needs 24-hour care. The staff who showed us around was even able to contact other daily staff members to make sure that all my mom's needs could be met. They were very helpful, and they would be able to provide for her extra services. There are extra amenities on site, such as a salon, a pool, and a water fountain out in the garden. Doctors and a podiatrist come to the building; there are just lots of extras. The extra services like the salon, doctors, and things are available for appointments. The menu looked great with lots of choices. We didn't taste any food. We just asked residents that we met how they enjoyed the food.

We toured Lake Barrington Woods. What we liked least was the age of the building, even though they are doing some major renovations. For us in particular, the age of the residents was significantly older than we are. They also didn't have a lot of couples, and we are a couple. It was just not what we were looking for. The staff was very informative, very knowledgeable, and very friendly. She was just a very nice and outgoing person. There was work in process, but the place was clean. There is a courtyard and a patio that people could sit on. They also have a game room. The rooms have kitchen and in the units. They have a dining room too. They have meal programs as well.

The apartments at Lake Barrington were nice and spacious. It was an older community, but still it was nice. The lady who gave me the tour was very gracious and gave me a lot of information. The dining room was big. Overall, it was clean even with the renovations that were going on which were quite extensive in the hallways. My overall impression of the staff was good. I also met two of the residents and they gave very good impression of what they thought about the place and the things that they like. It was all very positive.

I might consider moving my parents into Lake Barrington. It's much smaller, it's older, and could use modernizing in some areas, however, the feel of the place is what I liked. It felt like people were living there and were not just housed there. One of the activity rooms had art projects all over the place; it was a mess, but that's fine for me, because it means things are happening there. The rooms were a better size than other places. I liked that they were flexible in that if one parent was independent, and another need assisted living, they could still be together, and that's important to me. The lady that did the tour was very empathetic, caring, explained the place really well, and was good about asking me questions. I'm still in communication with her. The people seem to be interacting more, the dinner area was smaller, and people seem to be actually communicating there. It's just a smaller, more intimate place, so people can get more attention.

Lake Barrington was very nice, but it's out of my mother-in-law's price range. The place itself was lovely. The person who showed us around was so nice, kind, knowledgeable, and she listened. The rooms were beautiful. Everything about it was beautiful. Their dining room was lovely and their outside area was beautiful. They have a common area where they have happy hour and we saw the beauty salon. They have a lot of nice areas for the residents to do things.

I liked Lake Barrington a lot. The apartments were nice, bright and reasonably large. There were people doing things all over. The person who took me around was very nice. They had meal service, a physical fitness class, rooms for playing cards, and a craft room. There were a lot of things to do.

I liked Lake Barrington, and it has a lot to offer. It's lovely, and the woman who took me around was remarkable and gave me a lot of information about the facility. It's affordable for my parents, and it seems like there are enough activities to keep everybody happy. They could use a little bit of updating in their hallways since the wallpaper and furnishings are a little bit dated. Other than that, it was very clean and lovely. The grounds are beautiful, and there are a lot of outdoor spaces for the residents. Overall, I think the facility is wonderful and great.

Lake Barrington was excellent, and it was like a beehive down there. Everybody was doing something; there were ladies in the beauty shop, there were people in the lounge, and they were everywhere. The residents were very active and very friendly. The lady who took us on a tour was absolutely fantastic, and she was a very good person for that job. She's very sociable, very outgoing, and very pleasant. The rooms looked great, the dining room was very classy, and the menus were fantastic.

The person at Lake Barrington Woods who assisted me was very helpful and showed me just about everything. They have a health club, billiards room, home theater area, craft room, beauty shop, fitness, swimming pool, and tennis courts. The staff was very friendly, all the residents seemed extremely happy and satisfied, and everybody seemed very cordial.

Lake Barrington Woods was very nice. It has a lot of things and my aunt’s needs were met. But she is not happy with the food. It started out to be very good, but I think they need to change hands. They have buses to take them shopping, outings that are available if they can go and trips to theaters. They have movie nights, different card games, game groups and crafts and they sometimes bring groups in. They have family gathering every year where we all come and they walk around and have trays of appetizers and all kinds of things, and some entertainment too. There is a facility there like if I wanted to have a birthday for my mom and they have a private room for that.

A lovely & lively place! We were greeted by upbeat, fun, professional, caring staff & friendly residents busy with their activities, socializing & Happy hour. Were treated to a fresh, made-to-order dinner with soup/salad, hearty entree, sides & dessert. Very satisfying & delicious. The INDOOR pool was the deal-maker for me. Great daily exercise & I'm eager to re-learn scuba!. The fitness equipment is also up-scale. Views of the woods are sublime & the resident-created flower-filled outdoor patios are wonderful. So many on/off-campus activities & clubs, boredom is NOT an issue. I plan to clear the billiard table & fine-tune my poker game! Excited to move in soon!

We went to Barrington, and this one I really liked. They are very nice over there. It was very nice, and the food was very nice. Everybody was very friendly, and the rooms were nice. The rooms were fine and as spacious as what most of them would be. The environment was bright and positive with everybody being friendly and everything being nice.

I was impressed by the friendliness of Lake Barrington, and the people there can avail themselves of so many different things such as game rooms, and there was an exercise room and just a lot of things going on that the residents can avail themselves of. The people were very friendly and their manager -- Ms. Labuda -- was just outstanding. I have been to four or five other places, and she was just an incredible person. She runs this place with a very positive, upbeat attitude. I would rate them a four mainly because it looks a little tired; it needs a paint job and some new carpeting.

We were very pleased with what we saw. It was excellent. The cost seems fair from what we've seen around. We're not complaining about it. There are no issues with the cost. We were in two different types of living situation. They were both very spacious, more than adequate for what my in laws needs so like I said we need to get them to go. The dining room is ample in size. Whatever they were cooking smelled awesome.

Mom moved in at Lake Barrington Woods in November. This facility is excellent because it is in a place called Lake Barrington. This is where a lot of rich people live. It's nice and it's close to us. It is also luxurious; I wouldn't mind living there now. The main reason why we chose this place for Mom was because she wanted to be with her sister who had moved in there like a year ago. My aunt is in the independent part but on the same floor, they also have assisted living, where my mom is in now. They're on the same floor and they can do their meals and such together and all that. So far, the care has been excellent. It's nice to be in a place where everybody recognizes Mom. When they see her, they would greet her by her first name. They have been very nice. We have been very happy with it. We're glad that she can spend the last years of her life in a place that she deserves. I would recommend it to anybody. When I'm older, I wish I could afford to live there because it's that great. It's like you're in a luxury hotel. Also, food is excellent. It's like eating in a five-star restaurant.

Currently, I'm in Lake Barrington's waiting list. What I like best about this facility is their two-bedroom-two-bathroom apartments. I also like that they have covered parking for my car. The staff that I met was very pleasant. They have breakfast and dinner everyday for their residents.

My parents lived at the Lake Barrington Woods for two years. We chose this facility for them because it was close to where I was living, so that was the main reason. We liked it also because it was a yearly apartment rental type of situation without a big investment. There is no extra money beyond the yearly rental. The problem is that the more assistance they needed the pricier it gets. They got a pool and so many offerings, but my parents don't use that. It seemed like they were paying for a lot of things they were not using. The food was okay and better on Sundays but during the week, for the amount of money that they were paying, it seemed not worth it. A lot of their meats were on gravies and breakfast did not always offer protein option. So it didn't seem as health geared as we would have wanted for the money that they were paying. It seemed lower budget food wise, but the people were very friendly. It was a very nice place. They happen to be at the end of a very long hall; but there were also a lot of positive experiences there as well.

We chose Lake Barrington mainly because we had a daughter that lived 10-minutes away. It was lovely and spacious. The community seemed really friendly. We visited other facilities but this one seemed to fit my husband best. I thought he would be happy there.

I thought that the atmosphere of the facility itself wasn't lively enough. There were not many decorations around, but the residents all seemed to be having a good time. That leads me to believe that the staff and residents there are friendly people, but the rooms themselves were less than satisfactory. They painted a lot of the walls gray, which is, I think, bad for retirees. Their lunches seemed balanced when I went, the lunch was chicken noodle soup with a house salad and bread. They also have accommodations for those with special dietary needs. It is situated next to a medium-sized street, so the noise wasn't too bad. Occasionally, however I heard some honking, so this particular facility would not be good for sensitive residents. I think that, overall, this is a well run facility. The staff seem good, and if it wasn't for their lack of liveliness, I would have considered it.
