I am 22. I was 19 when I came in. Even with all the mishaps that occur, this facility is fantastic! I would NEVER take a single thing!

Not Much Good Here

I had a family member here for five years, and it was hell on earth. The facility is always dirty, the maintenance is horrible, the elevators are always broken, the staff does not work together, it’s impossible to reach the floor to talk with the staff who is supposed to be taking care of your loved one and I would often come in to find him soaking wet, laying his own urine for hours, and he never ate the food there because it’s so horrible and when he needed pain medication, it took 45 minutes to an hour to receive. no sense of urgency, no professionalism and extremely poorly run facility. Do not leave your love one here you will have nothing but stress from all the promises and lies.

The rooms are dirty, you are left alone most of the time, my meds were not given, I needed wound care but laid waiting for a day and a half, the food is literal garbage, some of the staff was nice, some not, I think they are understaffed here and when I was here I found myself to be very depressed. I needed medical care and barely received what I needed, and signed myself out. Please, find another place for yourself or loved one.

This place could care less about it's patients. It's all about making the most money possible for the owner. They could care less about the employees as well, so the turn over and quality of much of the remaining staff is telling. It is not unusual for there to be one CNA for an entire floor. Nursing staffing is not much better. There is next to nothing spent on towels and linens. Medical supplies are so short make it so staff picks through garbage. You will be promised everything you are looking for, but good luck with that.

I have a family member in Salem and find it unacceptable. There are some kind employees but the facility under pays them and are unable to hire competent CNAs so ru with 60% agency CNAs and nurses. The building maintenance and housekeeping is poor and seems improvement are not in the strateg plan - if there is one. Parking is inadequate, food is poor. All in all a hot mess where mediocrity is accepted as the norm.

This was a horrible facility and I would NEVER place a loved one here. My family member was treated terrible. The staff was non responsive to the needs of patients and would leave them in horrible states for long periods of time. Staff did not always feed my family member, left them in pee, did not shower them, left them after a fall. Staff were not nice to my family and made us always feel like a nuisance or stupid. If you truly love your family member or friend you won't place them in this facility.
I would like to remain ananomous. Afraid of repercussions.

I would avoid this nursing home at all costs. True some of the staff was great, but the majority was not. I don't feel my loved one got very good care. I feel that most of the staff is lazy and found more chatting among each other than out on the floor helping patients. As far as food, there is not enough. My loved one lost a lot of weight. I felt the rooms are in terrible condition, smelled and looked dirty. God forbid there is a fire, with the elevator service, no one would get out. Don't bring anything good there either. My loved ones good clothing, although marked was all stolen. Stay away from this one.

Salem Village was recommended by a lawyer I was dealing with. The staff was fine, the rooms were small but the place has a good reputation. The dining room was simple and I guess there is enough room for the residents, but it’s not really spacious. There was a girl playing, passing balloons around that’s all I noticed. The rooms must be improved.

I just got out Monday 08/04/14. I am only 47 years old and injured in an accident. I was on the physical therapy floor 2nd floor. I feel the staff is very caring and tried to help people when needed. I recieved physical therapy everyday Monday through Friday. The physical therapist are good at what they do and are patient with you. Just a few complaints though. THe furnishings are very dated. I feel the food could be better quality with better choices. I have food allergies and Hector was very accommadating to my needs. I was able to bring my own food. They have a small eating area with a stove the residents can use. Also, by the physical therapy rooms, there is a room with a washer and dryer the residence can use.

We placed my mother in a nursery home due to her lack of mobility. We chose this home in particular because it being close to our home. My mom is currently involved in physical therapy, through a separate company. The CNA's that have worked with my mom have all been extremely nice and very easy to get a long with as well as trust while family isn't visiting. The nurses are kind and show a lot of support for my mother as well as the rest of the family. They have made mistakes but all little ones which have been corrected. Most importantly, my mom likes her caretakers very much. Now, we don't see any doctors on a regular basis and some times, it seems as though too many people are involved with decision making and that seems to be the cause of all the mistakes. Regardless, Salem Village is a very trustworthy facility. When a mistake is made, they own up and correct it as soon as possible.

i had to deliver somethings to a couple of residents in salem village. when first walking in you are in a reception area. the receptionist was very nice and helpful.she gave us directions and we were on our way. the halls and dining area from what we could see were not decorated and quite sterile looking. we got lost a couple times and had to ask directions from 2 different people. one of them was very nice and the other not so much. the patients are allow to bring thier belongings with them to make their rooms theirs which is a huge plus. over all i would say that this is a very nice place
