Our experience having my mom here has been good so far. They take her into therapy, they help her with walking, and getting her back into daily life. It's clean and doesn't have that odor or smell when you walk in. The staff is nice and friendly.

I really have nothing good to say about it. The staff is terrible. They have a couple there that are fantastic and they have a couple that are just terrible. One lady pushed a wheelchair at Mom and told her to get in it. She wheeled herself to the bathroom. The building is fine and the rooms are OK, but the food is lousy. They gave them one piece of bacon, one egg, and a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast today.

My 94-year-old mother walked into South Suburban hospital for routine surgery. Following an unexpected hip replacement surgery, she was transferred to Promedica ManorCare Homewood and came out in a coffin. Before acquisition by Promedica, my mother had stayed a ManorCare Homewood for rehab twice. She raved about the quality of the food and the conscientious staff. Since its acquisition, apparently, corporate responsibility is to stockholders and not patients. While my mother said that the staff was professional and skilled, the facility is so understaffed that it is unable to meet patient needs, takes excruciatingly long times to respond--if at all--and doesn't have adequate physical therapy staff to carry out surgeon instructions. We want to move my mother to a better facility, and people kept telling us that this is the best in the south suburbs. I feel sorry for people needing rehab in the south suburbs. I would urge people to find a better location, because if this is the best in the area, it's really sad. There is not any way that I would recommend Promedica -- and if this is a "best" from the corporation, I would not recommend any Promedica facility. Ever. My mother died while under their care.

They have been wonderful. I have no complaints. The social worker is very helpful. The nursing staff has been very attentive, and they keep me informed of everything. They allowed us to have a 90th birthday party for my aunt with no charge for the room usage.

Mother just got out from here, and she stayed there for six weeks. What impressed me the most was it was very clean and smelled good. They paid attention to her needs, they listen to her, and the therapy was right on point. She didn’t particularly care for the food. She was in a 2-bedroom that was very spacious and had a window view. They have movie nights, facials, and massages. However, the nursing staff wasn’t as friendly as the others.
