I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents moved to Chestnut Square in late 2023. From the early tours to today the staff and residents have been nothing short of amazing. It’s a real community, not just an apartment, and the availability of entertainment, enrichment, and amenities are simply wonderful. I’m so thankful to have them not only close to me, but also in an environment in which they are happy, thriving, and making so many friends!

I am/was a resident of this facility

18 years ago at the age of 60, I moved into Chestnut Square at the Glen. I didn't want the responsibility of living in my house or taking care of it by myself any more. (I highly recommend it for anyone 60 or older.) I continued to work full time for the first 10 years I lived here. I ate and slept here and met a lot of nice people. I didn't have to worry about upkeep or repairs on a house any more. I didn't have to worry about feeling secure and safe. Especially if I came home when it was dark out. After I retired at the age of 70, I started participating in some of the activities and committees that were available. There are several things for everyone, whatever you desire. They are always willing to listen to new suggestions for activities. The staff is exceptional. They will listen to you and try to please. It is a very friendly and casual atmosphere and just the right size to get to know everyone. It is nicely decorated. It has a very light and airy feeling and is extremely clean. They take and interest in the welfare of the residents. It is almost like having an extended family. Moving here is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I am a recent resident (about 1 yr.) at Chestnut Square in the Glen and enjoy living here. The facility has a great location across from the Glen with its shopping and restaurants, the Glenview Park Center with swimming and many other activities and Glenview Senior Center. The building and grounds very attractive and are well maintained. We were attracted to its moderate size and compact design-no long hallways. Chestnut Square provides a broad range of activities; discussion groups, card games, talks, entertainment, etc. as well as a beautiful dining room and very good food but probably one of the most important factors was the residents and staff. The staff is warm, helpful and welcoming as are the residents. The residents are a diverse, interesting and caring group. We have many interesting discussions at dinner and other gatherings. We made many friends here just as we did in the neighborhood we left. Also, no more meal preparing, house maintenance, yard work or snow shoveling. Fred R. Glenview, IL

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

When my mom and dad were looking to move into a retirement community, my mom had very specific requirements. One of them was an in-unit washer and dryer. Chestnut Square was one of the only places that offered this benefit. Mom was sold! Then we visited...the place was so well taken care of, and decorated so beautifully. The apartments we saw on our tour were fresh and clean, and ready to move in. Mom likes that it's so close to shopping. She can walk to Starbucks, a variety of different restaurants, and her favorite store, Von Maur. They have daily transportation to Jewel, and field trips to different restaurants. Driver Sherby will even take you to your doctor's appointments! The front desk concierge are top notch...they all work so hard, and are very helpful. When my dad got sick, they were there to help when he needed medical attention. Since dad passed in December, everyone has rallied around my mom. They've been so caring and supportive of her. That means a lot to our family.

Staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. My mother got to choose the colors to paint the apartment, new carpet color and color of kitchen appliances prior to moving in. The apartment has 4 closets, which includes a huge walk-in storage closet (plus another large locked storage cage in the basement). There is a stacked washer and dryer in the large bathroom. The shower has a bench within, grab-bars and a shower head that can be hand-held. Her apartment is cleaned and bed linens changed weekly. The food is delicious and very nutritious with a wide variety of choices and regular special-themed meals. There are many fun activities to choose from. It is easy to sign-up for rides to local stores or doctor visits with the friendly and helpful driver. It is a secure building located within a safe and quiet residential neighborhood, yet also is adjacent to "The Glen". The landscaping is very nice. There are pretty views from her apartment windows of grass, trees and a gazebo. She controls the heat and ac settings in her apartment. She also enjoys participating in the activities planned by the friendly chaplain. It is convenient to use the on-site beauty shop.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I recently moved to Chestnut Square so that I can continue my independent lifestyle while still being close to family. From my first interaction, I was so impressed with how people are treated with a sense of humanity. As a new resident, I was welcomed into the community, which is friendly and comfortable. Within the first few days, both staff and residents greeted me by name. My apartment is a beautiful 1br with a den which is perfect space for me. When I need assistance, the staff goes above and beyond to help me with anything I need. The service provided like transportation to shopping and doctor's appointments, excellent diversified programming, and even a group for my favorite game, has made me feel right at home. The dining room and food service is wonderful where people are welcome to come in comfortable attire to the delicious and generous food which often provides me with a lunch for the next day. But it is the sense of welcome that really stands out. I have met new friends, participated in some wonderful programming--including dancing on New Year's Eve. I was anxious about living in a retirement community but living at Chestnut Square feels like I am at home.

Mom moved into Chestnut Square nine years ago and has been so happy there. It's clean, the employees are kind and caring and she has made so many friends! She takes part in many of the programs, particularly the lectures and films they provide. Their weekly lunch get togethers are a favorite and she goes up to the small gym almost everyday to keep her blood pumping! She socializes with other residents almost everyday, plays cards with a group every week and eats dinner in the dining room with different people so she is always sharing and chatting! I am convinced that her regular socializing and the chances she has to stay active are what keep her younger than her years. And I have been comforted in the protocols and safety measures that are in place during these pandemic times we now live in.

I visited this facility

I have chosen Chestnut Square at the Glen. It has 200 apartments, 1- or 2-bedrooms of various sizes. It includes once-a-week cleaning of the apartment, and complimentary breakfast and dinner daily. All I've seen is wonderful and fantastic. The place is lovely.

I visited this facility

Chestnut Square at the Glen was very nice. I liked the cleanliness, the friendliness, and the things that they offered. They had planned activities, trips, a beauty salon, and an enticing dining experience. The place was close to shopping.

I visited this facility

My parents are moving into The Chestnut. It's pretty new, only nine years old. It has activities and dining, a business center and it's close to the community in Glenview. It's clean and it has nice views, and they like the people there. I hope my parents won't be as isolated as they were in their home and that they will take part in activities to keep them more stimulated, more alive, and active longer.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My father lived here for 4 hrs, we were very pleased with the facility and staff. It was his home for 4 yrs and it was a welcoming warm setting. They provided a life line connected with the phone which he needed and used. Partners in Healthcare has a office in chestnut so as he needed more care they were avaiable to add assistance (for a fee). When my father was in the hospital they visited and asked if they needed or could arrange interim care. The amenities were great and the attentiveness to making this your home was so appreciated by my dad and definitely by myself!
