My dad is currently at Aperion Care Dolton. When you first come in, it's very welcoming. You can see the entertainment room through the double doors with parakeets and birds, arts and crafts, and things with a lot of colors that drew my eyes. It is very inviting and comfortable. It doesn't feel like a hospital and it smells good. His room has a TV, a dresser, a cabinet with shelves, a radio, and a nightstand. There's a lot of lighting and a lot of windows from floor to ceiling. So, it's nice. The staff is very professional, very hands-on, and very attentive. They always involve the residents in activities like movies, physical and mental activities.

****OUTSTANDING CARE - PATIENT AND DILIGENT SERVICE - ABSOLUTELY RESPONSIVE TO YOUR CONCERNS**** Our mom is a Stage 6 Alzheimer's patient with many very difficult behavioral issues related to her disease.. We were very apprehensive and nervous about placing her in nursing care. However, realizing that we could no longer meet her needs and keep her safe in our home environment we began the search for alternative living for mom. From the very first call to Aperion Care Dolton, the voice on the other end of the phone put us at ease. Sandra in admitting listened to me and assured me that they could meet our needs. Sandra invited me in for an informational tour--which I took advantage of the same day. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, the warmth of the employees and the fact that on the spur of the moment, everything was available for me to see. The patients were alert and engaged in activities. The nurses were polite and took time to greet me. Once she was placed there she initially continued to be a very difficult case. They never gave up on her. The employees at Aperion Care Dolton were very attentive and patient with her. They made her feel comfortable and balanced the need for close care and safety with her need for a level of independence and control. They listened to her stories and made extra-patient efforts to engage her and acclimate her to their programs. By mid-December, mom was adjusted to her new living arrangements and her behavioral issues are well under control, I never expected that she could be this calm and adjusted again. Her primary doctor is pleased with her health, weight and overall improvement. THERE IS MUCH TO BE SAID FOR LETTING PROFESSIONALS DO WHAT THEY DO BEST! Families have personal access to their loved ones 24/7 and can do telephone checks anytime night or day. Mom is doing much better in the nursing environment than she was most recently in our home. We welcome being received by her with a smile. She is always happy to see us and we no longer have to be the "wardens" and "bad guys." who have taken her control away. I would recommend Aperion Care Dolton for any family nervous about placing their loved one for nursing care. A nursing home, by it's very definition, can't be 100% in each area at all times, but the people here care about their patients/residents and consistently go the extra mile!

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO APERION CARE! My brother has diabetes. He has been forced to wait hours, on a regular basis, for transport to dialysis. He requested dental care a year ago, which has never happened. "Monthly meetings" between staff and family never are scheduled. Phone calls go unanswered. Very dangerous place!

I thought Aperion Care was overcrowded. It was OK, but as far as helping him to start walking or getting him to walk again, I didn’t see that progress at all. It wasn’t that bad; it was just a little overcrowded. The care was OK, and the food was fine.

Grandmother was her for 7 years, and in that time she had the same 2 - 10 nurse and most of her CNAs were the same. It really was like an extended family.

The nursing care at Aperion Care Dolton appeared to be there, like the nurses seemed very nice. I think my dad wouldn't like that he had to share a room. We were looking for some place where he could have his own space, but that wasn't available, and there was really not a lot of outdoor space and he wants to be able to go out and do things. The rooms were very small and institutional.
