My parents were previous residents at Randall Residence. This community is clean, friendly and everyone who lives there is very well taken care of. The staff genuinely cares for them, and their families. The nursing staff are kind, empathetic and genuine and give the best care. We lost my parents, but the fact that they allowed Hospice and that they could stay at Randall until the end gave the entire family comfort and peace. Do not look any further if you are looking for a place for your parents, or loved ones. You will not find one better than Randall Residence.

My mom moved into the Randall Residence in Decatur, and she's doing well there. The staff members are very helpful and personable. Everyone I talk to seems to know my mom, what her problems are, and what they're going to do to help her. I've seen my mom doing therapy. They have a piano player come in and play music. They have the residents working on jigsaws. Everything there is clean. When you walk in, it does not smell like a nursing home. They have a courtyard, and we've gone out, sat out there, and enjoyed the weather.

My mom is staying in Randall Residence of Decatur. It's wonderful. I can't say anything negative. The place is amazing, the staff is awesome, and the appearance is bright and cheery. They keep it updated because I know this has been there for several years, and they're constantly renovating it, making it up to date. Beautiful. Yesterday my mother fell and broke her shoulder. One of the employees, her name is Lisa, my mom's in independent living, but she's just making sure that my mom is fine, and she will go beyond what is expected of a job to help. Last night she volunteered to go to the hospital and bring her back to her apartment if she didn't have a way to get back, and this is just an amazing woman. Every day there's something new, there's always arts and crafts, they just finished up having a Mardi Gras party, so there's always a celebration happening at least once a week. They go out on a drive and once a week they go out to restaurants or they're out and about. It's very nice food. It's OK, but I'm not going to go crazy about it. It's not like a five-star restaurant, but it's good.

Very disappointing outcome…and would not recommend. Kate (the admissions director) seemed wonderful. My family met with her and took a tour of Randall and were very pleased. We had our parents all set to move into the Assisted Living section and they paid the required $500 deposit. They were placed on a waiting list starting in April 2021. There was a room immediately available a few days later. None of us were quite ready to move them in just yet. So we waited. And waited. We were assured a room would be available soon. It was not. Now we are in the month of June. What Randall never told us at the initial meeting (and we didn’t think to ask) was that all residents in the Independent Living section could move to assisted living BEFORE anyone else on the list. This just kept moving our parents down to the bottom of the list. They then encouraged us to move them into Independent Living so that they could move into Assisted Living faster. This would have required us to move them twice. We declined. We also asked them not to come to make an assessment of our parents unless we were AT THEIR HOME, which Kate had agreed. They had already made several impromptu casual visits. I thought this was good. I felt as if Kate was trying to make them feel included at Randall. Kate had called me at work to ask if she could stop by their home and she assured me that this visit, with just her nurse (and the nurses dog) was NOT an official assessment of their abilities. She mentioned that they were both just out and about, visiting another potential resident in the area, with the nurses little dog. I told her it was fine, that my parents loved dogs and would more than likely love a visit. This was the (3rd time?) she had been to visit. Within a day or two after this visit we were sadly informed that our Dad would not be welcome at Randall because he required too much care. The nurse, on what I was told was an unofficial visit, had gone ahead and made her “official” assessment when we were not present. She made the decision that our Dad could not live there. Dad was deeply hurt by this rejection. He then started to decline rapidly and it wasn’t long until he died. Two days after he was buried, Kate from Randall called and said that they had a room open for our Mom. What a coincidence! We were dumbfounded. Mom declined to live at Randall. My sister spoke to Kate and was told we should be entitled to a refund, which we did receive and we appreciated. There is nothing I can really prove about this whole situation, but it seems shady. I am annoyed that they agreed to let my Dad move in at all, even at the initial visit in April, when he was there in a wheelchair. Perhaps they should do more than one assessment? I don’t know what the answer is, and it isn’t up to me to fix how they do business…But there is a saying about people that goes like this…”I may forget what you said, but I know how you made me FEEL.” And our whole family feels this is a shabby way to do business. So, great for those folks who love Randall residence. We do not. I can only hope that no one else has to experience a similar situation placing their loved one in a facility. To our family, it was a colossal waste of time.

Randall Residence of Decatur was impressive. It was very clean and the people seemed to be extremely nice. Facilities seemed to be what we were seeking as far as the needs of my parents in assisted living. The person who gave us the tour was excellent too. The entryway was also clean and the library where we sat down and talked with the director was outstanding. We were impressed. The resident's rooms looked about what we kind of expected. We liked the size of the bathroom, as it seemed to meet the needs of what my mother is going to be. They had different sizes of one-bedroom and there was a waiting list for it. They had card playing and events in which they could go and socialize too.

Randall Residence of Decatur is very nice and large. My mother has one of the larger apartments, which is very nice and very well maintained. They're all extremely friendly. They have several different levels of care and she's on level 2, which means they'll help with her medication and breathing treatment. They have bingo, puzzles, and a library. We've been very happy with it so far. The staff is friendly, outgoing and very pleasant. She said sometimes the food is not quite as warm as she would've liked and not as seasoned.

Randall Residence of Decatur was a good facility, and it was clean. The people were there to take care of my mother, but her dementia accelerated, and she couldn't take care of herself anymore. She wouldn't use her walker and they didn't want to put her in a wheelchair. She kept falling and ending up in the hospital because they didn't have the people to watch her all the time, but the staff was all very nice. I have no complaints about any of them. It's better than a lot of places. They played Bingo, and we had Christmas dinner with her there. I was satisfied.

Randall Residence of Decatur looked old, but they seemed to have good activities, amenities, and everybody seemed friendly. It had a nursing home vibe to it, but it was a decent facility. It's less expensive than others, but the rooms were a little bit smaller. There were people playing bingo, and they had a little garden where you could go out and sit. The staff was nice and friendly.

Randall Residence of Decatur was good. I liked the apartments. They seem to be bigger and have a little more room. The dining room is very nice and very well done, and they have laundry. Everybody that I talked to are very pleased with the food. The lady who showed me around was very nice. They have entertainment for the people and they have a van to take people to appointments or to church. They seem to care about the people rather than just treating them as a number.

It was very nice, and very comfortable. The staff was very awesome; very nice people. The food was great. It was a menu-type thing where you could order, but you could get what you wanted. They showed us the activity room. They told us about the activities, and the outings. The room that they showed us was just too small for my parents.

We chose it for my sister because they had a larger space available and they were able to accommodate her income. She needed to be in a place near her family. It was more like a senior living place than an assisted living facility. She had a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. She had a whole kitchen and she could make her own meal if she wanted to. They provided meals and if she would not go down to the dining area, she could have her food in her room. I have tried the food there and it was good. They had certain days of the week when a hairdresser came, they also had Bible study, they took them shopping and they could also accommodate doctor's appointments. If somebody can do everything pretty much themselves, so this was the perfect place.
