During one of the open houses at Paul G Stewart Center, my brother, Johnny M. applied for one of the low income senior apartment in the 401 Building that was being renovated, He was accepted and moved in a month later, that was almost 2 years ago. I told my girlfriend with disabilities about the apartments and she moved in 3 months later. The apartment was clean and the leasing agent went over the move in checklist to make sure appliances were working as well as giving my brother operational instructions for operating the central air/ heating unit, electric stove and new fridge. The laundry room was clean. The building had 24 hour security, gated parking plus parking on the street, elevators, laundry room, exercise, crafts, ball room etc.. The staff were professionals and he had no problems having repairs made in a timely manner when they were needed. He enjoyed living in the building and the community feel on his floor whereas all of the neighbors looked out for each other. He also enjoyed the fact that the King bus stop was around the corner. He would be living there today but he died in March 2020. I am so impressed with property management and the building amenities that I'm applying for a apartment. Anna J.

The apartments need to be updated. Appliances are old. The marketing brochure information is outdated. Interior amenities are not new and some of the community amenities listed in brochure have been discontinued.

Staff is not concerned with the fact that this is a senior complex. Laundry room washers are always in need of repair. So you never have full use of all of the washers. Elevators are never at full use. No where to sit while waiting for your ride to doctor’s office only three people on marble block in vestibule. Sunday sitting waiting for a ride to religious service is a joke. Maintenance has a get to you when I feel like it attitude and the office staff is not any better. Needless to say looking very diligently for a new place.

Paul G. Stewart Center is a really nice building, and they have a lot of activities for the seniors. The building is secure. They have a doctor's office in the building, a grocery store, different people that they can talk to like social workers that will help my father get acclimated with the community. There's always someone on-staff and I like how things are set up. His room is really clean and well maintained. I like that the access to the building is keyless. They have a gym, different cultural events on a weekly basis, and a group of people on walkers that go out each week.

No positive comments for this property Mice, Roaches, and bedbugs in common areas, as well as in apartment. Also it takes a long time for management to respond to repairs.

I would not recommend these apartments to any seniors. They constantly have trouble with the elevators. My mom has been in her apartment since last November her door bell is still not working. The staff gets aggravated when we ask them to let us in.

If I could give them less than a star, I would. My father has been a resident for 2 years now with a promise, since he has moved in, that they will be remodeling and fixing his building. It is important to know that Paul G. Stewart Center is not just one building and all of the buildings are not treated equally. My dad's building is full of roaches and bed bugs. One of the two elevators is almost always broken. The system to buzz in your guests might work for some occupants but not for others. All of these points, and more can be added, are harmful when it comes to my father's situation. He has been an independent man for as long as I could remember but with recent health issues he needs more attention. Bed bugs make it hard to take care of your loved ones when you have to worry about taking them back home with you. Stop being cheap and fix ALL of your buildings!

Paul G. Stewart was recommended to my parents by a friend some time ago and they've been living there for about four years. It's independent and assisted if you need assistance and it's at a very nominal cost. They provide lunch and dinner if you need it. They have the Golden Diners and the food is pretty good. The ball room, media room and the computer rooms are kept pretty clean. They have a facility for exercise and they have a movie theater. They have trips to various stores and shopping, different things like plays and art classes. They have a Christmas party and occasional field trips. They recently put in a grocery store inside of the building on the first floor but it is also open to the public. While there, I was a little concerned because I felt like they could have cleaned the hallways a little bit better and I also felt like they could have painted near the elevators a little bit better and it was often one elevator that was not working. But they have, in the last month, painted by the elevator and got it looking better and they are cleaning the hallways a little bit better now. One elevator is still not working often and for a building that size for that many people especially for senior citizens and some elderly who can't walk that fast, it's not a good thing to have even one elevator that's not working. They should all be working. Sometimes if a senior has a concern, there is a young person that is working in the office. It may be a generation gap in communication and the person doesn't realize that that person could be their grandmother or their grandfather and it's important to make sure that office staff, no matter what their age is, speaks to residents with respect at all times. There has only been a couple of occasion where one of my parents has not sulked that they were spoken to with respect but they it was only two incidents. One of these times, it was as though they just weren't listening to a senior taking into account what they said but they did take to account what was said and they started cleaning the hallways better and they painted the hallway near the elevator. They did start taking action from what was said. It's a couple of things that they need to work on.
