The staff is extremely kind, and engaged with their residents. The staff also maintain appropriate contact with the family of residents, and everyone is treated like an equal, valuable member of the care team. The facility is lovely and well maintained. When my mom lived there it significantly improved her quality of life, in a way that was immediately noticeable and tangible.

Moving my husband here was the best decision! He’s doing so much better physically & mentally than he was in his previous facility. The care he has received at Holly Brook has been exceptional! Every single person, from the Director, PT/OT/Nurses, staff, cooks, to the house keeping staff, have been so kind, caring and supportive. I feel like they ALL go above & beyond their job descriptions to make sure the residents are happy and taken care of. The food has been delicious, with a wide variety of menus. The building is beautifully decorated and kept spotless. I love how many activities they plan, and how they encourage residents to participate. We’ve really enjoyed the live music each week, featuring the best local artists. I was heartbroken that my husband wasn’t well enough to come home when he got out of the hospital, but our experience at Holly Brook has been wonderful. I’m so glad we made the choice for Holly Brook to be our home away from home!

I toured Villas of Holly Brook Herrin. They were very friendly. The facility is very nice. It's about 10 years old. They have a movie theater. They're a very Christian community where they have like a church service (it's non-denominational). It's a beautiful facility. From what I saw, they knew the residents by name. They seemed to be very happy. They have a place to exercise. They have a physical therapy group that is there to work with the residents if they need it. Their laundry is taken care of. They get three meals a day. I saw their menu and it looked very, very nice. They have a lot of activities. Kim was a wonderful tour guide, and she is very involved with the residents. They try to do things in different rooms to make the residents feel like they're going somewhere, even though they're not leaving the facility. They'll do something in the movie theater, then maybe they'll do something in the library and then they'll do something in one of the other rooms, so the residents feel like they're going to different places. Overall, it just seemed like a very close-knit group, and the people all seemed like they were very happy there. They have a companion dog that just walks around. He's very nice in making the residents feel like they're loved.

Villas of Holly Brook - Herrin didn't look as well-maintained as the other facility. The staff who accommodated me was wonderful. Everybody was very nice. There were areas in the building that looked worn. The accommodations were nice, but they just didn't appear as well maintained. The only difference that I could see with the rooms, the other facility had a big walk-in closet, and the Villas of Holly Brook just had a little tiny closet, and yet they were the same price. The amenities and activities were about the same, and they're identical in price but you don't get as much for your money at the Villas of Holly Brook.

I like that Villas of Holly Brook is all on one level. The rooms were a very good size, and we saw a one-bedroom. They have a courtyard, there's a whirlpool tub, and if they like to take a soak, they can do that. The staff is very helpful. The administrator was the person who did the tour, and he answered any questions, was knowledgeable, and very helpful. They were getting ready to play bingo while we were there. We didn't have lunch there, but they gave us a sample menu for the month. The appearance of the place was very peaceful; they were good colors. They offer transportation to different places, and they offer group activities.

I did a tour of Villas of Holly Brook - Herrin. It was very nice, but the downfall on that is, they didn't have a nurse that would be there 24/7 or CNAs were not 24/7. Otherwise, it was very comparable to the others. The staff who gave me the tour was very nice and very friendly with the residents. He had a good personality; he joked around a lot with them and seemed to know them well. The rooms were comparable, but a little bit smaller. I felt like the bedroom would have been too crowded. It was very pretty, and very well kept. The dining area was nice; it was tidy, and a little smaller. So, it was easier to go through. Everything was clean, but he told us he would welcome us back to try the food and stuff any time we wanted at our convenience. We just felt like there was no sense looking any further because they did not have the full 24/7 nurses or CNAs. He let us just walk in, and he had an appointment that was coming in. So, he showed us as much as he could in that short time that we interrupted him. He was very, very nice in the way he handled everything. He asked questions upfront about my parents, trying to get a feel for what they needed. I would have felt comfortable being there had they had the 24/7 nurses.

I never felt like a Newcomer everybody made me feel welcome to my new Forever Home. It's always been clean and neat in the common areas. I am proud to show my apartment on tours for potential residents. It has a very friendly staff and along with great friends I've made here. Love the hairdresser Pam, Activity Director Kimberly and I enjoy sitting in the courtyard. I love the walking trail and I am able to stay active safely here.

My mother was a resident at Holly Brook and they provided the best possible care. The facility was beautiful and well maintained. The staff was very caring and managed all her needs. Mom loved the dining area and all the staff went above and beyond to assist her. Brenda in housekeeping was outstanding and did so much more. Kim in activities provided so many outstanding activities and interacted with the residents so well. The nurse Rita was my go to person. She was so helpful and took such good care of Mom and kept me informed. The administrative staff was friendly, caring and understanding and always addressed any concerns. Some care givers stood out by going above and beyond but all provided necessary care. I was so thankful we were led to Holly Brook and know it was the best place for Mom.

The staff was so kind, caring, loving, and supportive to both the patient and the family of the patient. We cannot brag on The Villas of Hollybrook enough. Our family member lived there for almost 10 years. The staff there literally became family to us and our family member. They ALWAYS went above and beyond in every area of care.

I got a good vibe and a good feeling with Villas of Holly Brook Herrin during my visit. It seemed okay, it was just an older\ style building. You could tell that their rooms are really like a nursing home facility. The staff that accommodated me during the tour seemed really nice. It's nice to have options and to be able to set an appointment with the staff and see them.

Villas of Holly Brook - Herrin was a very nice facility, and they offered lots of activities. We saw the residents eating a buffet with several choices of food. They had somebody assist them if they can't carry their tray. The layout was really nice. The dining is in the center, and the rooms make a big V on each side. The rooms had nice windows and lights, and they're pretty spacious. The staff was very nice and very caring. It's very well kept up and very clean.

My tour of Villas of Holly Brook was fine, but it was too expensive for what you get. Their amenities seemed very nice. It was clean and seemed well run. The staff was fine.

We did live in Villas of Hollybrook for a year. For our purposes, it was mostly disappointing. We could not get specific help with any of our dietary needs. They were unwilling to bend or even provide for us anything that we needed. My husband is a vegetarian, and they said in the beginning that they would work with us in terms of keeping meat out of a portion of whatever is on the menu or provide an alternative for him. That's what they said when we moved in, but we did not find that to be the case at all. The original company that owned it sold it to Meridian, and Meridian is an investment company. It is not a healthcare company, and it was clear right away that their greatest goal was to make money, so they cut staff, and when some staff left, they didn't replace them. They put everybody into this cookie cutter service of what they would provide. I know the other residents were not happy also with the food company that they chose. It was a lot of high fat, high starch, lots of carbohydrates -- it was terrible. The food just ended up to be a real problem. It's an absolutely gorgeous building, and the setting in the initial impression is that it's very high end, but that's where they put their money. There's no soundproofing to the rooms. The doors all slam. They don't have any soft closing doors. They had a broken door at the front that was never fixed properly the whole time we were there. The carpeting was just a joke. The apartments had a very good floor plan, but the biggest problem was there was absolutely no effort made for soundproofing. The amenities completely geared towards women, so the men were left floundering. There's opportunity to get out into the community, but they were not willing to schedule or help people schedule any kind of alternative transportation. There was transportation in this area, but they kept telling people that it wouldn't come to Hollybrook, and that's a lie. I scheduled it for my husband with no problem at all. We've actually made some visits because we made some very good friends there and found our friends essentially declining because they're not getting good nutrition. They're upset with the way things are handled, the turnover of staff, and the difficulty in scheduling their appointments. The three people -- which are all management -- that take people to and from appointments also have office jobs to do, so they're really stretched, and it's wrong the way that they don't have some transportation other than the management staff. It's really upsetting to most people.

The Villas was a beautiful facility. They were very good; they were very clean. It’s just they were a little bit pricey and they were private pay, so it wasn’t going to fit in to the scheme of things for us. The staff all seemed very nice. The apartments were a nice size. The only thing about those apartments is they did not have any sort of cooking, so that’s one reason why we didn’t particularly care for them.
