My brother was in Thrive of Fox Valley. They concentrated on short-term rehab. They worked very hard with the patients with physical therapy and occupational therapy. They would work with him every day, whether it was in the bed, getting him up to the wheelchair, or trying to get him to be able to stand up. The staff was really good about addressing his weaknesses and trying to get arm strength and core muscle strength up. The food was good. He didn't have any complaints about the food. He has a semi-private room. The thing for them is that you have to show improvement in order to continue there. Unfortunately, he kind of stalled out and he wasn't making any improvement. That's why they had to transfer him to the other place. They had an app called How's Mom. I could go in there and look at his labs, his medications, and his progress notes. The doctors called me and said, "If you have any questions, here's my phone number, leave a message and we'll get back to you," and they always did. It was a great experience. If I called and asked to speak to someone, somebody would return the call like within one to two hours, which I was fine with. We had team meetings with the nursing and physical therapy. We all felt like we were involved in his care a lot more at Thrive than when he went to the other facility. The wound care nurse called me almost every day to tell me about his wound. They were great with families as far as keeping them informed of what's going on with their loved ones. I really liked that facility. It was clean. They had activities out all the time for people to do. The food was good. He didn't have really any complaints there. In their physical therapy area they had a car so they could practice getting in vehicles. They had a small kitchen so that they could work on cooking skills, making sure that they're safe in the kitchen. They had a bathtub, a shower, and toilet just so they could practice getting on and off these things. It was very well equipped with a lot of modern equipment. It's still fairly new. They had a lot of amenities and a lot of good therapy equipment. There was something that they didn't have that they needed for him, and they got it while he was there to use on him. They went above and beyond. The staff was really good.

My sister is a resident of Thrive of Fox Valley. It's relatively new. It looks nice. It's clean and spacious. It's probably one of the newer facilities. I don't know how old it is, but it has a nice first impression. Her room is pretty basic, a bed area and then of course a bathroom area. It's not like a studio or whatever. There's no microwave or sink or anything like that. It's just the bedroom area, a big window to be able to look out, and then a good-sized bathroom, which I have not been in, but I know it was a pretty decent-sized bathroom. The rest of the space is for staff to come in and do stuff to help her out. Most of the staff that I saw were professional staff that were coming in to do therapy. They seemed competent, cheerful, and good. She does require what I would call non-professional staff help as well. She's not supposed to try to go from the bed on her own to the bathroom completely yet, so she needs staff for that. I just haven't been there enough to really know a lot, just how proficient some of the staff is, but what I saw seemed nice and good. They have had several things there that she's enjoyed. A lady harpist was there and my brother and sister-in-law said that she enjoyed that a lot. Then there was another performer there that was singing show tunes and stuff, and I guess she enjoyed that. I think they have either therapy dogs that come in occasionally or there is a resident dog. I don't quite remember which way it was, but my sister enjoys dogs very much, so it was a joy for her to be able to see the pets.
