I personally stayed at this facility for over 2 years and I can't give it a score that qualifies with the love and care that I was provided. The meals were all home cooked and on time. The time and attendance that was given to all the residents were on their time not what the care givers had to do for their shift. They have schedules that the also keep, i.e. bathing, bed changing, cleaning rooms every day. This is a small town home feel to it that money can't buy. They have activities for everybody if they want to participate. If my mother was alive and needed somewhere to stay, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to take her there knowing that she would get the best care in a loving and responsible way.

I have been providing home health nursing services at this facility for 15 years. Although an older facility, it is kept very clean. Although I haven't eaten any meals at the facility, the food always smells great and my patients never complain about their food. The staff is small, but the staff still provides wonderful care for the residents. Our home health agency provides home health nursing and therapy to several of their residents and we conference weekly to make sure that our patients/their residents get the very best care . The staff genuinely cares about their residents and I would feel very comfortable for them to take care of any of my family if the need arose.

My brother who recently passed away, was a resident at the Lazy R home in Blairsville, GA, for about 2 months. While this is an older facility, I can't say enough about the quality of care he received there. The people were loving, kind, and genuinely cared for him. He was always clean, neat, and it was obvious the care-givers there regarded him as more than just someone sent there to die. The room and hallways were kept spotless. This is not a brand new building, and the lighting is a little dim, but by the same token the cost on a monthly basis is less than half of what the family would have paid for a nursing home in one of the larger Atlanta facilities. And the level of service and care was double what we experienced earlier when my mother did pass away after a long stay in a "top, notch" Atlanta nursing home. So we give the Lazy-R and its staff very high marks.

Although there was nothing "wrong" per-se with this facility, I just can't bring myself to rate it well. The facility seemed to be clean, though older. It was exactly what I had pictured in my head when my father said "assisted living facility". The staff was polite, but not friendly. They answered our questions, but didn't go out of their way to make us feel at home or welcome. In my opinion, it seemed like "just another day at the job" and they were just waiting to clock out. Though there isn't technically anything wrong with that, when I thought of leaving my grandmother to reside in this facility, I just couldn't do it. The people who lived there seemed to be enjoying their day, so obviously the facility does have something to offer, but in a world where first impressions are key, this one just didn't cut it. The one benefit this place has is that they are located in a VERY small town with limited options.
