Staff were friendly and seemed competent. Residents appeared to be well cared for and appropriately looked after. Facility was clean and looked adequate. The residents that I met outside and in the hallways were friendly and greeted me as I walked past. Security was in place to keep people out that shouldn't be there, and to prevent residents from leaving if they were no capable of taking care of themselves while outside, but there were several residents enjoying the sunny front porch when I drove up. The neighborhood is not wonderful, but it wasn't terrible either. The location is not in the best part of town, but close enough to down town as to make it easy to get to. When dealing with the staff over the phone they were friendly and helpful, and I found them to be the same in person. This is not a fancy facility but certainly seems to be good enough for many people's needs. Different areas housed people with different needs, and there seemed to be chances for the residents to interact with each other if they wanted to, but they were not forced to if they had no desire to do so. The lights were bright and the overall feeling was not as depressing as some places of this type can be.

Over the past few years, I have visited this facility at least five times. While the facility has improved over the years, it is still what I would consider, not up to par. The facility is made up of four brick buildings, with the main building housing the receptionist area, a main nurses station and other administrative offices. You have to sign in before visiting a loved one and staff has to let you in, as the door for entrance into the patient's area, has a code. The facility has a home feeling to it and the staff appear to be knowledgeable and professional at what they do. They also appear, for the most part, to know many of the clients by name and show that they care. There is not enough parking for visitors, however, as the majority of the parking is on the side of the building and is for employees only. The pavement outside in the parking lot, on the side of the building, has some large holes and although are avoidable, can be difficult for an employee, if you happen to drive your car over them. The building itself is older, however, it is clean as you enter the receptionist area, and the staff does make you feel welcome. The one drawback when visiting the patient's area, is that there tends to be an odor, around the entire facility, in the patient's area, which may come from not sterilizing while cleaning. There are some rooms which are tidy and some which are not so well kept, as per the patient in the room. Some of the patients, which have access and authorization from staff, can be seen sitting outside of their rooms, near the nurses station in the main building or outside on the porch, chatting with others. The facility has improved, however, as at one time, the building was structurally unsound and dirty. However, due to medicaid surveys which were less than attractive, the hiring of new management and employees, a major overhaul has been done to the facility.
