Over the years I have had 3 relatives with the New Horizon family. All have have been consistent in kindness and caring from the Administrator, Care staff, Cooks, Housekeeping and Maintenance. The home and units are clean, food tastey and activities varied. Mom has been very happy. If Mom is happy so am I. I highly recommend this unique home setting.

New Horizon Share Home was a small facility and it was more homey. Everybody knew everybody. The staff was out there relating to their residents and were very friendly. The layout of the room was a little smaller, but I loved their bathroom. They had seats and handles. The bedrooms were nice and it felt homey. I just thought they needed a little bit more activities for their residents.

I did a tour of New Horizon Share Home. The lady that took us around was lovely. She was getting ready to retire, but she was very nice. The facility was advertised as an assisted living, but it was very much more like a nursing home. It had a nursing home feel, and there was no assisted living atmosphere or anything that seemed to match what an assisted living would be. I understand that it's been taken over by someone new, so I don't know whether they will change that or not. When we saw it, it was old and dark. There were people sitting in wheelchairs with their heads hanging down. A few of them were playing bingo, but it was very much like a nursing home. I was very disappointed. The whole thing was old. They were doing some remodeling, but it was still old. It wasn't bright or light. The rest of the staff were pretty much tied up with the people that were playing bingo and the people that were sitting around in their wheelchairs. We didn't interact with anyone else except a handyman, and he was very nice. I would rate the lady that took us around and the handyman that we talked to a five.

We went to New Horizon Share Home. There was absolutely nothing about the place we liked. It was very dirty. It smelled like urine. The price we were given was $2,100, but when we got there it was $2,800. From what we saw, it was predominantly memory care patients. It's what they call a shared home. It's not a big facility, so it's just small rooms with your own bathroom. We weren't there very long. We went in and it was right around lunchtime. There was a lot of people just waiting there in the dining area still in their pajamas. It looked a little unkempt. There were people there with their stuffed animals or dolls. My aunt has a physical disability, but not mental. It was just not a place for her. I wasn't happy with it as far as the smell and the cleanliness. It's very outdated. The flooring was very cheaply done. I just was not happy with it overall. The staff who toured me was very nice, although it was her last week. She's now retired. But, as we were sitting there talking to her and trying to get information, other residents were coming in, interrupting and talking. She was very nice, but it was dirty, and it smelled like urine. They had feral cats all out back and out back smelled like cat feces. It was just not nice.

My mother has been a resident since Sept 2019. The entire staff, from the head administrator to the maintenance staff, have always been willing to address every issue that has presented itself to make my mom feel welcome. I have dined numerous times with the residents and the quality of the meals has impressed me every time. The home is always very well maintained and clean, as are the outside grounds. My mom particularly loves the musical entertainment that visits once or twice a week, the manicures, and the outside courtyard area were she can visit and get some fresh air. Nicest bunch of ladies caring for the residents' needs! I'm glad to have such a caring residence for my mom to age in.

The staff at this facility are very patient with residents. Angie is a super administrator. She is extremely helpful and cares for her residents. New Horizons is kept very clean. We have never smelled a bad odor there that is typical at many senior care facilities. Bob in maintenance works very hard to keep the place up to date and in working order. Highly recommend this assisted living if you are looking for a safe, secure place for your loved one.

Resident rooms and restrooms are spacious and clean. This quaint facility always smells fresh - it is obvious great care is taken to keep it updated and clean. Maintenance does a fantastic job with repairs as needed. Staff members are friendly and helpful. We love how there are normally a variety of activities and guests that come to provide entertainment. Wish they had a full-time nurse on staff and diabetic meals. Highly recommend.

I realize most poor reviews stem from a bad experience and hopefully those experiences are few and far between. But my review is factual and hopefully helps others considering New Horizon. This facility and the staff have very limited capabilities and the crew is very lean. My relative was there only two weeks before I received a call giving us a 45 day eviction notice. The eviction notice was because my relative was deemed "exit seeking" for looking out the window. Also someone needing help sitting down or using the restroom is too much for the staff to handle. I've repeatedly asked for copies of intake paperwork, 1823 form, and numerous questions which always go unanswered. I never even received an invoice for rent. The admission process is very weak and no assessment is given. The visitation policy is also substantially inadequate. Visitors come and go without signing in and no one asks who they are. I was even told "not to worry about signing in" on my 2nd trip there. If your relative is considering New Horizon make sure he/she is capable of every day tasks. It's babysitting with a license to dispense medication. Nothing more.

My mother lived at New Horizon for five years and I can't say enough about the great care she received. It is clean and the staff take pride in all they do. I live in Lakeland and drove to Winter Haven because of the excellent care my mom received.

New Horizon looked like it needed a lot of repair work and cleaning. I had no desire in living in a place that wasn’t clean.

Most of the staff was extremely loving to my mother. A couple of them went far beyond normal care giving duties. I can honestly say that my mother was very loved there. Whenever I came to visit someone was with her laughing and carrying on. Mother always said the food was pretty good and the staff would sometimes buy sweets for them. They also were provided with 2 snacks a day along with the 3 meals. They had alot of activities including crafts, bingo, church services, musical entertainment, story time, and video games. The facility was always very clean with no foul odors present. The housekeepers were very diligent and her laundry was always brought back smelling clean and fresh. I'm very happy my mother was at that particular facility.
