I lived in Allegro - St. Augustine for a year. It's very good, but it's expensive. It's physically a very nice place. It's very new looking, very well maintained, and quite physically attractive. There's nothing negative about it. I was very happy living there. I was happy with the food. They had trouble getting adequate staff though. When people ate, there were short waiters and you had to wait longer for the food. Except for being short of waiters, the staff themselves were very good. The other staff made up for the lack of waiters. Every once in a while, some of the regular staff would wait on tables just to try to help out. The people in the front office were wonderful. I went to exercise class every day and I loved it. The facilities were very good. They had a courtyard, a salon, and an exercise gym with not a lot of equipment. They had an exercise bike and a treadmill, and there was a guy there to help you.

We toured Allegro - St. Augustine. It's pretty. They have a lot of entertainment and a schedule you could do if you want to. The rooms were very nice and they're all clean. The lady who took us on the tour was very, very helpful. She tried to help me. If I get rid of the dog or if he does, I'm probably going to Allegro. It's my first choice, but they're a little expensive. The amenities they have look very good. It's closer to where I live. They have a one-bedroom apartment. They do have a couple of studio apartments.

We visited Allegro in St Augustine. The rooms were small or smaller than what we are used to. The staff was very good. The rooms were old, about 20 years old, and small, but a lot of improvements have been made since then. The community is old. It needs some refurbishing and updating.

Allegro was nice, but I don't think they have that much flexibility with the food service. The main thing that made me steer away from them was when I asked if anyone was sitting by the door 24/7. They said, "Oh, no. Any resident can just walk out the front door at any time." I asked, "With all these people who are starting to get dementia?" She goes, "Oh, that would be a problem if your mom has anything like that." They don't offer memory care if it gets to that point later. Their amenities and activities are comparable to the community that we chose. This place is certainly nice. They have a minimum room. It was a studio with a little kitchenette, a big bathroom, and a closet. It was just an open room. They have lots of physical activities, entertainment type activities, a little exercise area, salon, library, and so on. I didn't think the lady that showed us around was very welcoming. There was no invite to try their food or spend the afternoon or anything like that. The building itself was nice, new, and up-to-date.

We chose Allegro for my brother because there was an apartment that opened right away as we were looking. They have their own library, but they also have the bookmobile services from the library of St. Johns County. They have all kinds of different activities, like computer classes. They would also bring the food up to him if he can't go down and he's also checked on every day. The food is excellent. They have a standard menu and choices daily. They also have a little cafe for afterhours, so there's always food available. They also have their own bus service which takes them shopping and to different medical appointments. The staff is very cheerful and very caring, from the person who cleans to the people in the dining room. The building itself is stunning, beautiful, and very clean. You would think it is a brand-new place.

I found Allegro for my mother. We chose this community because it was the nicest one. The staff was all fabulous. They were very good, very nice and very kind to her. Everything is five-star. Their rooms are beautiful. Their dining room is very nice. They have everything like field trips. What I like best about this community is the staff and the cleanliness and that it is new and pretty.

During my visit at Allegro, I thought the place was very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and pleasant as well. I did know that they put down their activities in the month calendar. Residents could pick the activities they wanted to attend. I was thinking that it would be a place I would consider if I decide to move in to an assisted living.

It was absolutely spotless. We had lunch there. A young woman in a server's dress served us and the food was delicious. There was always an alternate to the menu that you could select if you didn't want what was in the menu. We saw four rooms. They had an outside balcony that wrapped around the whole building and they had access to every room on that balcony. The windows were huge. It was so light and sunny and the woman that we dealt with knew every person that we came in contact with whether they were staff or people who lived there. It was ten minutes from a hospital, across the street from a pharmacy, two minutes from a doctor's office, but there were no buildings on either side of it or behind it. So, it had a very private feel to it and the road that runs in front of it was just a two-lane road and there wasn't any heavy traffic. They had activities like bingo. They had a piano and there was someone who came to play while they ate. Sometimes, they have a small band playing for them.
