My husband just moved into Alexander Nininger State Veterans Nursing Home. The things I like about them are the nurses are there and there are other veterans also. I was there early this morning and they got him dressed, cleaned, brushed his teeth, and fed him. He seems comfortable there. What's nice is instead of a regular wheelchair, they got him a chair that's more like a lounging chair on wheels. He looks very comfortable in this particular vehicle and it's easy to maneuver. They started labeling all his clothes to make sure they didn't get misplaced, and they were hanging up and organizing his clothes. He has a roommate, and he has his own little area. He has his own side tables, drawers, and cabinets. They also have a sink in their bathrooms. It seems like they're doing what they can for their residents. The room is roomy and it gives them a lot more privacy. They change sheets, not just once during the day. They do change the sheets at different times of the day in case it needs to be changed. They keep everything clean. There's no smell. Within the area where his room is, they have a center area where the nurses hang out and they have all the information right there.

The staff is very good and caring. They have made it bearable for our Father to be away from us. I would recommend this facility.

Alexander Nininger is very nice. I would love to send people to them because in trying to find a place everyone wanted all the social security money in addition to more money like 500 to $1000. This place allows dad to keep a $105 from his social security which is better than nothing. They provide everything, the service is outstanding and it’s brand new. The people, the nurses are always smiling, and always available. My dad has had no issues there and I can sleep at night. The food is delicious. It’s all homemade. The activities director there is excellent, he loves his job. The other night dad called me and said hey I’m at a restaurant. They do take them on field trips, they took him to games and they have great activities available. They do ice cream every Sundays for the families as well. I can’t say enough good about them. It’s the place I could have ever dreamed of putting my father.
