My mother is in assisted living at The Town Square in Viera. It's a single story, and it has individual apartments. It was one of the best places I toured. They're very informative and very warm. The rooms are perfect for someone who needs assisted living, and there's not too much space. The food is not great, but it's not bad. It's typical for what you would expect from a dining experience for older people with limited choices. There are activities every day: exercise, movies, crafts, and puzzles. She's very happy there.

My mother was in respite care at Town Square. We could not have asked for a better experience. Kimberly (marketing) and Ron (director) were so caring and concerned. They provided everything we needed and more. All of the aides and nurses were very professional and helpful. Activities are available daily.

My wife and I spent a year and a half in the Town Square before my wife fell in the bathroom while under the care of an aide, sending her to the hospital, and then a rehab facility. She was later moved to a nursing home due to her injuries, where she remains today. I remained for another year. Our assessment of the Town Square is that it is a very poor facility in all respects. Food is poorly selected, poorly prepared, and poorly served. Two of the aides were concerned about the residents, but most were disinterested. None of the front office personnel ever visited the residents, or showed interest or compassion. Before leaving, I followed the contract in providing notice and assuring the unit was clean and in good condition. They was a constant turnover of directors, five during the two and a half period. The latest director, Ron, came by two days before I left and checked out the unit, and said we would receive a full refund of the security deposit and half month rent. However, after over two months, we received a small portion of the security deposit and none of the rent. Bottom line is the Town Square in a terrible place to reside, the units a in poor condition, and the administration is untrustworthy. Don't subject your loved one to such conditions.

My mother moved into Town Square in 09/2019. She loves it there. They were very up front with us from the very beginning that they are not memory care. They have many activities, and staff treat the residents like family members! Especially now that COVID19 restrictions to keep residents safe restricts visits to chatting through a closed window. Whenever I ask them to do something that I would normally do, but can't now, they say "That's what we're here for" or "My pleasure". I couldn't be more pleased with the care my mother is receiving! Personally, I love the food at Town Square, and miss being able to dine with my mom. Can't wait to do that again someday soon after the nightmare that is COVID19 is over. I also love that Town Square is single story so there is no elevator to deal with. Vaulted ceilings in the individual apartments provide lots of wall space for photos and artwork.

I cannot emphasize enough that you go anyplace else as Town Square would be a horrendous choice to put your aging parent. This facility seemed like a great option at first for my mother in law. What we came to later find out was that we were bamboozled that they held the requisite accreditation for Mom to age in place. This of course had some undisclosed conditions which essentially made the notion unadulterated BS. Buyer beware because this experience and con job was exponentially worse than buying a used car. Mom was fine at first as she was fairly mobile and able to easily self-transfer. After about a year Mom’s steady decline was as expected from a 90-year-old. Her decline made it glaringly obvious that the care in this assisted living facility was a far cry from adequate for an aging parent. Many of the staff were rude and inattentive to Moms day to day needs. Often times she would miss meals as she was not informed that her food had arrived. The unresponsive care for Mom frequently left her in her own feces which often resulted in severe rashes. The short falls and inadequacies in Mom’s care were drastically exacerbated when the facility ownership changed hands from Wuestoff to Steward in early 2019. The deplorable care on every level went far beyond the lack of adequate attention. Our bad experiences included an incompetent administration, book keeping, and management as well. On several occasions we received untimely calls that Mom was on her way to the ER. These people were making choices for her health and well-being with highly questionable decision-making capacity. At critical times the phone would go unanswered which is beyond frustrating and 100% unacceptable. When Mom finally declined to the point that they no longer thought they could adequately care for her, the Director mandated that we immediately hire a private 24/7 nurse which was going to cost more than $250 per day. We were fine with the idea she had to move but the upfront misrepresentation and abrupt unilateral decision without any notice was completely unacceptable. Fortunately, we had the ability to quickly remove Mom from this disaster of an assisted living facility and it was the best decision we could possibly have ever made.

The care and services are abysmal. After facility ownership changed it got even worse. Staff is slow to respond to calls from residents for assistance (sometimes 45 minutes or more). There were a couple of kind staff members but most were rude, lazy, unskilled and uncaring. I rarely saw nursing staff around. Management doesn’t return calls from concerned relatives and is very cold and aloof. It takes hours for staff to answer the phone after hours and in weekends. When my uncle died no staff member even expressed condolences. If you love your relative do not get sucked into their marketing scheme about how wonderful Town Square is. It’s not good.

Town Square is the name because it is like a town square inside. It’s a new facility, built around 2002. Every room has a back door so you can go outside, and it’s very pretty with palm trees. It is bright and airy. The staff was very nice. The director took me around, she spent time and showed me everywhere and everything. The rooms were deluxe studios and one-bedrooms. They have a little kitchenette, no stoves, but a sink with a refrigerator, and you could put a coffee pot and a microwave, I believe. They put an emphasis on the food. They have a restaurant-type setup. They have trips, they played Bingo, did arts and crafts, and stuff like that. I have a good feel about the Town Square.
