We went to Camellia at Deerwood for my ward. We liked everything about it, the staff, the availability of activities, and the socialization. The staff was very professional and engaging. They talked to the ward to see what her likes and dislikes were. They have a dining room where they come and take your order. They have waiters and you get to order from a menu, three meals a day. The rooms are nice and everything is airy. Everything is nicely carpeted, cleaned, and painted. My ward, who I took, has been adamant about not moving at all. And before we left, she said, "I like this place."

We toured Camellia at Deerwood. I brought with me a friend who used to run a memory care facility. The first thing was we pulled up, got out of the car and there were four people outside sitting out, and they were all friendly, and said "Hello, hello," "Are you visiting someone here?" and we said no, we're visiting to see the place and they said, "Oh, it's wonderful" and one of them was a caregiver and she had been there for six years. We talked to all four of them and they all loved it there. We went inside. We met the salesperson, Victoria, and she has been there for eight years. Everybody was so friendly. The place was very nice. Everybody was waving at us saying hi. It was amazing. We sat down for lunch and they have a menu that offers standard things and then they have other things that you can order that aren't such a big meal. We had a wonderful lunch. It was very good. We met the chef. He came out and talked to us and I talked to him about my needs for my diet and my husband who is diabetic. It was a very pleasant experience. We went and looked at the apartments. The ones we looked at had two closets and we looked at two-bedroom, two-bathroom places. They had two closets in each bedroom, so there was a lot of storage space. They also had a kitchen which wasn't important to me but that is extra storage space. We liked it. We saw their refrigerator where you can get food at any time of the day. You can get yogurt and various things that they have in there. I was impressed and so was my friend. She said this is a very nice place. It was clean. It wasn't brand new. There was some age on it. The outside of it was beautiful. They had a lovely pool and we met the person who does the exercises there. It was a wonderful experience. It was expensive. For the two-bedroom, two-bath, it was like $7000 a month. The staff was wonderful. It was very impressive. The food was excellent. They had ice cream for dessert which was so good. It was nothing you buy at your local grocery store. You aren't forced to eat anything. They have a regular menu and a little menu. You get two menus to choose from.

My mother, sister, daughter, and I recently visited Camellia at Deerwood looking for a future Independent Senior Living Community for Mom. We were greeted by Suzanne, who took us on a tour and was gracious enough to arrange dinner for all of us. The food was delicious, with several entrees to choose from. As we toured, various residents said, "Hello", and there were many cozy areas, which residents were taking advantage of, for Seniors to hang out, play games, or entertain. We viewed a one bedroom, which was spacious, included a full kitchen, a security system, and a screened in balcony with a gorgeous view of the lake. Camellia has a variety of exercise programs, excursions, & activities to accommodate many interests. There's a weekly Happy Hour with music and dancing! They even have a heated pool, a theater room, a library/game room, salon, and a cafe where you can access food in the wee hours of the night! My family and I were very impressed with the facility, but most of all, Mom has her eyes on a lakefront View!

Camellia at Deerwood is great. Mom loves it. It's friendly and organized. We chose it mainly due to the proximity to my home. They also have good activities. I like that they have a town car and that they can take people to their doctor's appointments, to the store, or outings. They have good food. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. The hallway rugs need to be replaced though. They're very dirty.

If you got the money, Camellia at Deerwood is the place for you. That's the only one I've seen that's got a pool. They got a lady that leads pool aerobics, and got a much better gym than the rest of them. It's $700 a month more than the other facilities I looked at, but I'm going to figure out how to get that one. It's beautiful, and the people were very, very nice. In fact, they asked me if I could come back on Wednesday because they'll have a happy hour and entertainment. They said everybody gets up and dances. The place was immaculate too.

The staff at Camellia At Deerwood was very well informed. They passed out the information in a way that helped me understand and appreciate. They took time to show me several apartments. The best part of it is that it is within walking distance to my oldest son. They have different sizes, and I saw a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom. They do both independent and assisted living. We looked at different places. They had libraries, a room for card playing, a saltwater pool, and a parking area outdoors.

Camellia at Deerwood has assisted living and independent living. The staff members were very friendly, outgoing, and not pushy at all. We saw the menu, but because of COVID we couldn't eat there. The facility appeared to be well maintained. They were in the process of upgrading some stuff in the next year. It was nice. It wasn't overly extravagant, which was good because my mother doesn't like overly extravagant things.

I went to Camellia at Deerwood. I think they're probably my favorite. If they had a washer and dryer in the unit, I would probably go with that one for sure. The rooms were nice and well-maintained. They had swimming, theater rooms, library, and dances. It's like resort living. The staff was lovely.

Camellia at Deerwood was my grandmother's favorite, and that's where she was planning to move next year. It was perfect. It was a little bit over the price range that she was looking at, but it looked like they were willing to work with her a little bit. It was beautiful. The rooms were gorgeous, the facility was gorgeous, and the staff was amazing. They're being very cautious with COVID, and I appreciate it. It was very homey.

We went in and had a tour of Camellia at Deerwood. It's a beautiful facility. The lady that we met with was very accommodating. She showed us around. We like the place. They had a swimming pool, the apartments, and the dining hall. It wasn't open completely because of the COVID. We couldn't see everything, but those were what we saw. It felt homey.

I've been to Camellia at Deerwood three times. Everybody was very friendly and they were extremely accommodating to make my mother feel comfortable. The lunch we had was good, and we had a menu to pick from. A couple of the staff member sat down with us and talked to my mother. It was a comfortable place.

Camellia at Deerwood is not too far away from where I live. It was a huge building. From the outside, there were a lot of construction going on. It looked like a huge professional building. It didn't look very homey at all. Then when you go inside, they had all kinds of amenities. It looked really nice on the inside but there was not a lot going on when I was there. Everything seemed to be quiet. I didn't see any rooms, but they had a swimming pool, a living room, an activity room, a game room, and a dining room. They have both memory care and assisted living. The only staff I met was the lady who showed me around, and she was pretty cordial.

Camellia at Deerwood was a very impressive place, but it was out of our price range. They had bingo and enough activities to keep you busy. We saw the dining area. It's in a very good location in town, and you can get around to a lot of different places. The staff was very friendly. It was my partner's favorite place.

Camellia at Deerwood looks well maintained and clean. The staff is extremely caring and they go out of their way to take care of my mom. They go above and beyond to make sure that she's comfortable. They do a great job at dealing with each of the dementia patient's unique differences. They have a really nice program where they take them out from inside the enclosed area to other areas. There's a movie theater and a gym that regular residents can use, but they also take the memory care residents over there once a week. It's nice that she gets to experience all that Camellia has to offer even though she is confined to the memory care area. The dining area is nice and small, and it's a private area just for memory care residents. The food is pretty good.

We visited Camelia at Deerwood. It was very nice, very pretty, and the food was good. The assisted living was pretty adequate, but the focus of the sales person was on the memory care. I did not get the feeling that the assisted living there offers the degree of assistance my mother would need. The common rooms were lovely, they have activity rooms, card rooms, a library, exercise rooms, and they have a room for movies.

My mother is at Camellia at Deerwood. It's beautifully maintained and the people are extremely helpful. I'm just very impressed with the whole operation. There are crafts, they play bingo, there's a hairdresser on staff, and they go on trips. They have a pool and gym so it's very satisfactory. They do laundry and pretty much everything you could want. They serve either two or three meals depending on your situation.

I like Camellia at Deerwood. The only drawback with them is that it is a little too close to the hustle and bustle of the big retail area in Jacksonville. Nevertheless, the place was lovely and very pleasant. The staff members were very gracious and very willing to talk to you. Everything we saw was very clean. They had an exercise room, an outdoor swimming pool, lots of activity rooms and small nooks and crannies where you can go in, and play games like chess and checkers. We thought the apartments and the units were very spacious. It's one of the things that draws me to go back and see them again. The dining area was very nicely done. The food was a 5 because I thought I was dining in a restaurant. It was fresh and nicely prepared.

Out of the three we visited, Camellia at Deerwood was the best one with the presentation and how well prepared they were with the entire visit. In the dining area, everything was nice and clean. There were a few activities that some of the residents were already doing. There were all kinds of different activities scheduled for that day. The person who accommodated me was very nice and had all the information available.

I absolutely loved everything I did over at Camellia at Deerwood. The people were great, the facility was great, the eating area was great, and the rooms were great. The lady that showed us the place was great. That would be somewhere I would not mind sending my wife. If I had to be anywhere in Jacksonville, that would be where I would go. It was a great place.

Camellia at Deerwood is upscale, but a lot more expensive; you would think you're in a resort. It's super nice. There are linen tablecloths in the dining room and a bistro where you can buy lunch. They have rooms with full kitchens and laundry rooms where you can do your own laundry.

The people at Camellia at Deerwood were more of a younger group in their 60s. My mother was 90, and I didn’t see anybody that age. The community was clean and very updated. It was very centrally located. The staff that we met was very friendly.

It looked like the residents of Camellia at Deerwood were from a higher socio-economic group than we think of ourselves as being in. Everyone was very nice and professional. They had tours, and their amenities were a step up, but it was the most expensive place that we looked at; we eliminated it just for financial reasons. I wasn’t really impressed with their fitness room. I think they expect people to go out and do things outside of the facility, so they didn’t really have a lot of equipment. They offered either a game night or a movie night and those kinds of things. It was all very professional. For our needs I would put it at about a 4.

The apartments were great at Camellia at Deerwood. They didn’t have a full kitchen; just a mini-kitchen. The bathrooms were really nice and had the roll-in shower, so if you were in a wheelchair, you could get in and out very easily. It had a very nice pool and an inclined ramp with a hand rail going down into it as well as steps. The entire time that my son and I were there, even though we would say hello or nod to residents, not a single soul said anything to us. We ate lunch, but there was something just a little off about the meal that didn’t taste quite right. It wasn’t bad and spoiled; there was a saccharin aftertaste. My son had one entrée and I had another and we each sampled the other ones but both entrees had that same odd aftertaste. The dining room was very pretty and clean. It didn’t have any odors but didn’t seem overly homey, either.

Camelia looked pleasant. The staff member who met with us was very well informed, professional, helpful, and pleasant. We actually had a meal there, and the meal was excellent. Part of what was appealing to us was they have assisted and independent living.

Camellia at Deerwood's rooms are very nice. My mom has a 1-bedroom, and it's very nice. They do her laundry and housekeeping, and she gets 3 meals a day. It's a very nice community. They have a very nice dining area, and the food was OK. It's a little different to what she's used to eating, but I think will adjust. The staff is very helpful, and I am very pleased with them. They have lots of activities for them to do.

Our experience at Camellia at Deerwood was very nice. It's a more intimate place than other places we visited, and the food was excellent. We met a lot of people who lived there because we have breakfast and dinner there, and we wandered around and talked to people and to the staff; everybody who lives there seemed to love it. It doesn't have skilled nursing -- just independent, assisted and memory care. It's pretty inside, but there are no tall trees outside. It's kept up very well though, and the staff is very competent and nice. It's small, but that's a nice thing. The people there felt like family.

Camelia was brand new and had everything that anyone could ever want. It was too elaborate and too much, and my dad wants a small facility. It was five or six floors with multiple dining rooms and multiple places. It was very nice, and my wife said if we could, we would move there, but it’s not for my dad.

None of the residents at Camellia at Deerwood spoke to us. They didn't even nod their heads and say hello, which was a little off-putting. We stayed and had lunch there, and the food was very good and service was excellent. It's more like checking into a very nice, upper-class hotel than a residential home. We spoke with Victoria who gave us the tour. She was thorough, I think, but seemed a little rushed. Supposedly, there were some other people who should be on the tour as well, but they didn't show up. We kind of felt like she was trying to get through with us if and when those individuals came and she could devote uninterrupted time to them. The apartment was very nice. It just didn't feel much like a home.

I looked at Camellia at Deerwood recently, but the one-bedroom was too small. Other than that, I very much liked it. It’s very lovely and offered a lot of activities. I liked it because the facility was new, very modern, and up to date.

Camellia at Deerwood was very nice. It's almost out of my price range, but they worked a lot with me to try to see if it could be workable with my budget. The staff was very nice. I met with the director and the marketing representative, and they were very helpful, knowledgeable, and seemed like they really wanted me to join their community. I had lunch there, and the food was very nice and served fairly quickly. The waitress was very friendly. I really don't have anything bad to say about them. The place was clean, and there were a lot of residents around. I would certainly recommend them. They seemed to have a nice variety of activities you could participate in.

Camellia at Deerwood is very nice. I find the rooms adequate, and nice. We move our person into a studio which is of course a little small, but really all she can handle. It has brand new carpet, and new cabinet. A lot about it is new so it is all shiny, and pretty. They have three meals a day.

We had lunch at Camellia At Deerwood and toured their facility. It was very nice. The apartments were nice. For the respite stay, they were furnished nicely. They have memory care, as well as a nursing. If I look to move my mother in there, she could stay in that facility, regardless at how badly she got. The staff was very nice, very helpful, and very friendly. I had lunch, and it was very good. They have line dancing, bingo, and exercise groups. The cleanliness of this facility was a step higher than the other facility.

Food service has not improved in the 15 months my mother has been there. Legionella has not been eradicated since April 2014. We were rented the apartment without being told by the company about the legionella outbreak. Serious leadership and management issues there.

Someone recommend Camellia at Deerwood to me. It was very nice. I like the apartments. They were not just rooms. They had two-bedroom apartments with two baths, a little kitchen, and a living room. It was very convenient and homelike. The staff was helpful. They had a really nice dining room. The food was OK. They had a workout room, a game room, and a pool outside. The only thing I did not like about it was being too much in between all these apartments. If you look out a window, you’re going to see apartments. You are not going to see any kind of a view. They had a nice walking area, but it was not really that huge.

I'll be moving into Camellia on the 30th of November. Right now, it's independent living on one wing and on the other wing, it's assisted living. They're just waiting for their license which will be coming in another month. This place was my choice because, honestly, they don't have as many sick people. A couple of places I went to looked like nursing homes and I couldn't deal with that. This facility was beautiful and well-kept. It was like walking into a resort. I like that everything has been in one building. They have a beautiful dining room. They have a bistro. They have a lovely library. They have a movie theater. If I want to get my hair done, it's also there. Everything is in one building and that's very nice. They also have transportation to doctors which I need desperately. I will have a one-bedroom apartment all by myself. Everything is included in the price. I don't have to pay for anything else. Regarding staff, I didn't see too many but they were younger than the ones I saw before. They have more enthusiasm about things and were very active, so that's what I like too. Food was excellent. It was very good.

Camellia at Deerwood is a new community. The place is excellent. The staff is very good, very cooperative, and very informative. I checked the other residents and they said it's an excellent facility and truly it turned out to be a very excellent place. I have been here for almost two months now and the price is perfect. I think it's just above average and it's lesser than other facilities. They just don't have enough people serving in their dining room, but the food is great and very well prepared.

My husband and I are looking at different independent living facilities that we could move into, and we liked Camellia at Deerwood the most. The place was clean and the staff was warm, friendly, professional, and caring. I can't say well enough about them; they're wonderful. The food was good too, and they have two different specials on the menu every day. It was an excellent place. The residents seemed to be happy and are having such a good time.
