I looked at the Manors. It was kind of confusing because one side of it was a nursing home and the other side was an assisted living facility, so what happens is once you advanced to the point where you need nursing skill, you go into the nursing side. The assisted living was on the left, and they had double doors into the nursing area there. They were very kind and very nice. It’s a very small, nice setting. I know a lot of people in Hobe Sound that said they wouldn’t send their dog there, but I personally did not get a bad feeling about it. It was clean, and they had a little ice cream parlor, seemed to be very attentive to the residents, and had activities. They had a piano, and they seemed to have control over the wanderers. They had a little bus that took the residents around town to the mall and places like that. My father-in-law is a devout Catholic man and attended a Catholic church in Hobe Sound for all the time he’s been there. The Manors had a little chapel that St. Christopher’s comes to and gives mass services, so that’s appealing to me; that made me feel good about the place. I thought the dining room was nice. They had a screened-in room if you wanted to sit outside on the verandah and have a look at nature. It felt like people were very comfortable and felt at home. The staff was very helpful, and I liked that they had control.

I think Edgewater Manor is as nice as any nursing facility in the area. They’re very caring, and they seem to be very clean. The fact that it was so convenient from where I live was good too. It’s about five miles away which is a lot better than a lot of other places. I would say maybe it’s a medium-sized facility, and it’s rather dated. My husband is in a double room. The rooms are not all that big; you know when you're trying to maneuver wheelchairs and visitors chairs, it’s a little crowded, but I’m satisfied with it.

My father was a patient at The Manors. I chose it for a couple of reasons. First, it was a locked unit and because my father had Alzheimer's, I had to have him in a locked facility, otherwise he would wander. Secondly was the cost. Their cost was probably the most competitive that I found for a nursing home care.

The facility is clean, but small and very outdated, the floor tiles looked like they hadn't been replaced since the 70's and the wallpaper either. However everyone seemed very friendly, happy, and to be enjoying themselves. The Dining room was large with many tables and kind of reminded me of my elementary school cafeteria. The staff was the best part about the nursing home having very caring, and friendly staff made my visit worth it. Kinda makes the old school decor almost worth it. They made the elders laugh and looked as if they were all best friends. They stayed very busy the entire visit. Collectively the staff was great, the decor was horrible, the building is small, but has a very nice little lake out front with a great waterfall. The place was kept very clean, Kitchen area was spotless, Rooms were very small but kept tidy and sanitary. However, the rooms were very cold feeling, not a lot of furniture for visitors, a little to hospice like. I'd like to see a better furnished building, and maybe a little more for activites, and I believe that the home could be much better place.

The facility was very clean and nice in decor except in the Alzheimer's unit it was more depressing. The staff were amazing constantly helping and really befriending the patients there. The out door grounds were fairly smaller than would have been desired. They needed to take the patients out more because they tended to get depressed. I noticed that the longer my grandfather was there the sadder he got and passed away. The staff did really nice things for all of the patients birthdays and special occasions. For my grandparents anniversary they made them a cake to celebrate. The help a lot with the patients dietary needs to make the food not only good for them but good tasting as well.s well the security needed to be a little tighter especially with the more dangerous patients. The one lady tried to stab someone and she kept stealing the other patients personal items. Over all the facility has very nice well trained staff that takes very good care of their patients.
