My Mother Marie was in three other Nursing Homes for a few weeks at a time prior to her admission to Fort Lauderdale Health and Rehab. She always said that this was the best facility of the four in Broward. The place is kept very clean and is well staffed. She was a long term resident (over 2 years) and was very happy here. The entire staff was wonderful. I especially want to thank Jose, Pauline & Ruth who took great care of her the last year of her life. I highly recommend this facility if your loved one needs skilled nursing care.

The rooms are old even with their remodeling. I had roaches in my room. I had to call housekeeping several times to come and spray my room. They told me that they did not have bug spray. Finally, someone called an exterminator to come spray my room. I found a couple of nurses to be helpful. Other than that, Nurses just pass out medicine. The CNAs are the most helpful, but they have them so stressed out. Physical therapy and Occupational Therapy is awesome. The communication is very poor at this facility. I had a very sloppy discharged. Staff will tell you something and it never follows through. When you go back to inquire then everybody is busy. I asked for some Tylenol for a headache, I did not receive the meds until three hours later. Nurse said she forgot about it. You will find this a lot there. Always forgetting something. Communication is extremely poor. If you need good physical therapy, this is the place. Overall, find somewhere else to go. Once admission accepts your insurance, you are nonexistence to them.

The majority of the rooms are semi private. The food is good and the staff are professional.

The staff, especially Nurses Michelle A. and Rolande I. are wonderful and very caring towards my Mother, Lorraine R. Natalie C. and Sam (receptionists) are always cheerful when I enter the facility. Dyeva V. works her tail off and always helps me with making my payments. Finally, Barbara, the Head Administrator, is very sensitive to my requests to encourage my Mother. Thank you, FLHCR, for going above and beyond the call of duty to take care of my Mother. We are blessed to have you in our lives. Warmly, Michele A. Spruance

I would have wanted to Know when cancer was growing from his anus. When his colostomy was not working and his intestines where hanging out on his stomach. In the hospital when he was dying the doctors said these were things that did not happen in a week. I flew down whenever I was needed. Never heard from dr who saw him in the facility. He was in a horrible room. One man was living under his sheet. There were 2 people who cared for my brother but his health was not there concern.

Spent six weeks in this facility. All staff, medical, nursing and therapy were very professional and caring. Could not give them a higher rating. The facility was clean and attractive and the food was tasty.

My mom went to rehab here from the hospital. Even as a nurse, I didn’t know exactly what to expect and was very nervous. I have to tell everyone, this place exceeded all my expectations - it was just amazing. The staff - nurses, assistants, PT, OT, kitchen help, maintenance, activities staff were all so wonderful. They had my mom up and about exercising and she was able to be discharged earlier than expected. Additionally, the place is VERY CLEAN. They had pet therapy, happy hour with a DJ on Fridays, and life music Wednesday mornings. It was very impressive. I would highly recommend Fort Lauderdale Health and Rehab.

My grandmother spent a couple weeks here. Alex the community liaison was amazing. So helpful and always available to answer any questions. The Physical Therapy she received really helped her regain some strength.

Have a loved one staying at Fort Lauderdale Health and Rehab who was there throughout Hurricane Irma. I cant express how accommodating and attentive every single staff member was during this stressful and scary process. Power was lost but generators kicked on immediately fans were provided and patients were made comfortable. I am extremely happy with their services and we absolutely would recommend this facility.

Great Place. I have been in a lot of facilities in the area and this is by far the best. Nursing, Therapy, and Dietary all do a great job, it is also very clean, The nursing and therapy staff are wonderful, If a friend of family member needed a facility again in the future, this is where we would go. Thanks again for everything!

zero rating, I spent 3 months in this house of horrors. I would not put my dog there! Understaffed, staff ignores patients, place is dirty, not wheelchair assessable for toileting, as a result they force you to use bed pan! Wound care horrible, Not a Dr. who is trained MD. just a doctorate degree, treat to make money and prolong healing, Head mgmt. is horrible should be in a prison for abuse. Manipulation of patients billing, patient health and not concerned for patient safety, only how much they can make off of you. AT ALL COST, DO NOT GO THERE!

I am leaving for home tomorrow after spending the last eight weeks at the Ft. Lauderdale Health and Rehabilitation Center. I came in with broken bones in both legs and was unable to provide even minimal care for myself without assistance. The C.N.A's who were assigned to me were some of the most wonderful people I have ever had the fortune to meet. They were always cheerful, pleasant and willing to do whatever it took to make me comfortable. Even though they had several other patients to care for, they (or another C.N.A.) always answered my call light right away. The nursing staff was also top notch. I had other health concerns which they monitored several times a day as well as answering all of my questions in detail. The Occupational and Physical Therapy staff spent hours helping me build up my strength and making it possible for me to walk again. They have perfected the skill of encouraging and pushing simultaneously. Although the meals were not exactly gourmet, it was pretty good for institutional food and there was always an alternative choice available. Of course, some negative situations will arise if you are in a center long enough. I did have a couple of complaints but they were dealt with immediately. I rated this center with five stars because I believe that the people who deal directly with the patients make or break it. The Ft. Lauderdale Health and Rehabilitation Center has employees who are second to none.

My mother is a current resident. She came here for rehab and then to go into long term care. Unfortunately it has not been what we expected. The facility itself is clean and the Daniel the physical therapist was great. The nursing staff in the long term wing is cold and rude. We witnessed one night as we were leaving a resident on the floor in his room. The aids standing at the begining of the hall clearly knew of this as when we stopped to ask the man if he was ok one of them started to walk up and told the other one asked us if he was "already" on the floor. This is also the type of facility that will require you to use one of their doctors and comply with whatever treatment or medication they choose. My mother needed therapy for her throat and speech due to a stroke and after a discussion with the speech therapist i was told she was difficult and given an excuse they would asses her and give her an X ray. No one calls you back ever the only person that seems to return calls is the facility employed social worker. Also we have had serous issues with medications being changed and not being notified at all. One nurse had the nerve to tell us they were my moms advocate. Be very weary of bringing your loved one here. We are looking to move our mom. The only thing they have going for them is its clean.

My mom was at Ft. Lauderdale Health & Rehabilitation Center once before, but it was not a good experience. She was admitted on a Friday evening there, and the entire process was horrendous. They got her dinner down in the dining area where there were several Alzheimer's patients, and she said that she was very afraid of what was going on. The staff was unresponsive, and they made her feel like she was being a pest in asking for assistance when she had to go to the restroom or things like that. It was an older kind of facility, and the sanitation there was acceptable. It was just that the staff seemed to be less responsive and less caring.

Physical, Occupational & Speech Therapists are pretty good, patient & helpful. However, the nursing care & quality was very poor, neglectful. Made me feel I was burden & unwelcome. The facility was not equipped for my level of health care & they failed get me the attention I really needed.
