My husband is now in Glen Oaks. It is very clean and well-organized. There are a lot of nurses and nursing aides, there is a rehab therapist, and I just like it because it is all enclosed in one facility. It is a very clean place -- which was my biggest concern -- and he seems to be doing pretty good there. The staff is excellent. He has to build up his strength, so they are giving him 3 square meals plus in-between and Ensure to get him stronger because he is very weak and very unstable. So that is basically what they are doing for him and showing him how to walk with a walker and getting his balance back. The facility location is close to all his family members, and the grounds are beautiful. It really is a pretty place, and I was really surprised to see it right there in the middle of the neighborhood. I like that they can’t get out because they have an alarm system, and they buzz you to come in, so it is very secure -- which I am glad because he tends to just want to go.

Reaching a patient is all but impossible. The staff is either too overworked or does not want to get the resident to the phone. There are no phones in the rooms. The facility is clean, but very utilitarian. No welcoming amenities are present. The rooms are adequate. They are kept clean. I think several of the staff members feel overworked.

Do not send your loved ones to this facility. Not clean, staff is not friendly, bugs and cell phone was taken from patient, had to threaten to call 911 to have social worker call me.

Glen Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center was a good facility. They have a lot of medical staff and nurses. The director was very helpful, very kind, and went above and beyond. They have a hair salon and a therapy room. They have their own doctor that comes in. There are alarms so that the residents don't try to leave the facility. They're more sophisticated than others because it's a skilled nursing facility. It's a safe place. They work with each person individually as opposed to being in a class depending on their needs. The dining room was good, and they had some pretty good food choices. They have generators in case of a hurricane. It was clean and well maintained.
