My friend is at Palm Garden of Aventura. It is very clean. He likes the way they treat him. The staff members are okay. The rooms are very clean. The living atmosphere is okay. They bring his food on time and his medicine on time, and they turn him and stuff like that. They have a rabbi that comes to them, and they have a church for the people there. However, they don't change his diapers. They don't change him all the time. I don't think they give him a lot of value for his money.

Make sure you call your insurance companies personally to get full understanding of your payments. The social workers Do not do their job. Even when you ask them the specifics of payments, They tell you not to worry about anything and after you leave you get an accrued copay bill for $3,000.

Generally Palm Garden was OK, and it’s where my father ended up. First, he had a double room -- which was unacceptable -- and the next night they moved him to a private room, so that was very positive. I don’t really have anything negative to say except one majorly important thing. He had got bad pneumonia after being there about a week and a half, and they sent him to Aventura Hospital Emergency without contacting the family. When my mother and sister went up to see him the next morning, he wasn’t in his room, and they thought he was in rehab until they said "No he is at the hospital. We tried your mother’s cell phone, but no one answered," but they didn’t try the landline at the house or make any other attempt to contact us, and we were very disappointed in that. There was one bad nurse, and I had a feeling that she may have been let go and the rest of the staff was excellent. He did rehab and had been walking up to 100 steps a day, and he just slowly started to decline to 30 steps and then he couldn’t get out of bed and that was because of the pneumonia. The facility was a little old but clean. They were very friendly and helpful. The best one of the ones we saw.

MY mother had had a short stay at this facility, We had to get her out asap. The nurses and cna where talking to her in a rude maner, didnt answer call buttons, she had to go in her wheel chair looking for them til she couldnt wait no more.Didnt care to breach confidentiality infront of people they knew if they where family, I had to stay overnight 24/7 because she was scared to be there.Roches, in bathroom and walls.Menu was always wrong. I would only give it a star, because they didnt have a zero.Call botton rings forever noone turns it off.A nurse told me she got used to the anoying noice already. The worst experience for us as well as my sick mom.Dont take family or worst enemy there.!

Before my dad passed on, he was at Palm Garden of Aventura nursing home. It was the best of the three that he was in, but it was not great either. The other two were worse, though. My dad was in a shared room. For me, I wouldn't like it. They had old TVs and old furniture. Of all the places he was in, this one had the best food. He liked their food the best. They did have activities, but not really. They had therapy, but my father could have maybe done a little bit better when he first got there, but they didn't work with their patients enough. I hardly ever saw anybody doing much of anything. They would just stick them in this room with a TV in it, and a couple of aides and half of their patients looked like they were drugged. They drugged everybody too much, and they said they didn't, but they did because I put up a big fuss, and I made them stop drugging my dad so much. I could tell when he was being too medicated because he was always sleeping. They did have trained nurses, but they didn't have enough of them. They had a lot of aides; however, these aides didn't know the difference. Also they didn't check on patients enough. I think they just need regular nurses and they need to check on their patients more. This nursing home is in the back of a hospital, so if you're not doing well, they would send you over to the emergency room, but nobody goes there with you. I would think that they should send somebody with the patient, but they didn't. At least they could have sent a person until a relative could get there.
