I am a friend or relative of resident

Both my mother and stepfather lived at the Georgetown for 2 yrs before he died. My mother later lived there for 10+ yrs. During that time we saw the quality of care decline significantly. With the exception of a handful of well intentioned staffers, care was low to poor. The building's condition was very bad. In Feb. 2015 residents were informed that The Georgetown would undergo a year-long renovation and that all would have to leave by May 1.

I chose The Georgetown Retirement Residence because it was cheaper than the other facilities I saw. I liked the atmosphere, protocol, food and location. My mom and stepdad had an apartment with two bedroom and two bathroom. They put two apartments together so it was very spacious. The staff were willing to help out in any way they could; very willing to make you comfortable and approachable. I really liked the care they showed to the residents. They had diverse and various activities like bingo, arts and crafts, concerts, people came in to speak, news briefing in the morning and others. The dining room had a very light and airy atmosphere. There were a lot of variety of food and if you did not like what was on the menu, there were other options. They seemed happy and pleased there. I would definitely recommend this facility to others.

My mother-in-law has been to The Georgetown for quite a while. It's been a great experience with them. It is also a retirement community surrounded with class and inviting atmosphere. They have an on-site parlor which they don't have to go out. It's very convenient to all the people residing in The Georgetown. They have a lot of different activities and mom has been really happy being in that community. The staff are giving quality care, not just the normal job, but it felt like they are really concern. It's a great place for a retirement home.

    I visited this facility

This upscale facility is located in the heart of Georgetown, where a lot is going on, with shops and restaurants nearby. Many activities are offered to engage the residents, including outings into the community to cultural events and other entertainment. A lot of the residents are former judges and attorneys who enjoy going to restaurant openings and fancier events. But the common areas seem so comfortable and inviting that residents will often gather in the lobby area and talk, or simply sit around and read together. The place feels more like an apartment lobby than an assisted living facility or nursing home. There is a large den area that feels like a library"”with bookshelves and a piano; many residents admit they use the space for their favorite activity: peoplewatching. The food served is hot and fresh and varied"”and residents really seem to enjoy it. The staff is involved and respectful, and there's a good caregiver to resident ratio. Many of the residents have been there a long time, and a lot of people get private care, behind closed doors. But there is also a nursing station, where medical care is facilitated. Hospice is allowed here. A possible limitation: There is no dedicated memory care offered. The Georgetown is one of the most expensive facilities in the area; rates start at $3,500 per month.
