Mclean is good and my mother-in-law is very well taken care of. We do have a little bit of problem with the level of care where they make us pay more money through what they consider to be special care which we don't agree with. We also had to bring in our own furniture. The rooms are nice, the staff is very strong and professional and it's a nice place, but it's very expensive. They have all sorts of activities.

We chose The Village at McLean Living & Care. A friend recommended it. This one just really fits our needs and wants right now. It's a CCRC. We've seen all the levels, but we have chosen independent and they're building a brand new building that's state-of-the-art, and it is just independent living. Even though there's other care on the campus, it's separate from this building. It's in the process of being constructed and it's expected to be finished on June 20, 2022. The newer building is not completed on the outside, but it's going to be beautiful. It's outstanding. It's a five-star rated place. They have good-sized apartments there with many, many, many amenities that we are interested in. We're very impressed. It's light and airy and spacious. There's a lot of open space there. The decor is attractive and cheerful, and it seems very clean and very well organized. The staff was outstanding. Their service was excellent. There's a country club next door and we ate there and it was very good. They had many offerings to make their residents happy. They give you a free social membership to the country club and reduced rates at the golf course. It's an amazing place. There's a lot of socialization. They have different groups with the arts. They are building a performing arts center right in the building. They have a gym, a pool, all kinds of aerobics classes, libraries, and different types of eating areas. They have suites there that if you have family or friends that want to come, they can stay in one of the suites there that are reserved for guests. There are so many things. It's top-notch.

My sister is in independent living at McLean, which is a continuing care facility. It seems to be well-run. My sister has been living there for several years. Her husband passed away last fall, but he got excellent care there. The staff and grounds seem to be fine. It's all clean and well-maintained. My sister's unit is a newly built, 1-bedroom home with a kitchen, dining area, living room, and a little patio all on one level, and she seems to like it very much.

We visited the McLean Village. The amenities are fine. They didn’t bother me at all. I thought that he would be able to socialize quite freely in many ways. The dining room and the areas where the people can congregate socially were not a problem. There are a lot of grounds around the facility so that they can go outside and walk around. I was disappointed that the room they showed us was a 2-bed hospital room that was being renovated so there was a private bathroom, but other than that, it was like an elongated hospital room. We would have to come up with a counter to put a microwave and bring in a small refrigerator so he could have something in his room, but the meals were at the main dining room. That was a little disappointing. It’s rather expensive; it was like $7800 a month. You are paying for everything whether you are using it or not. The nurse would be around to monitor his meds but he doesn’t really need that. He has a schedule of 5 meals a day.

It's my mother-in-law who is at The New McLean Village. She has been there for about a month now, and she likes it very much, so we are very pleased with it. The place is very well run. They have a nurse, and she comes by pretty regularly. I like best the care and the cleanliness of the place. I guess their prices are fairly reasonable. It took a few weeks for my mother-in-law to get used to it, but right now she likes it. She loves the food and has put on some weight. She had been very thin, but she is now eating well. They are taking good care of her, and we don't have to worry.

What my mother likes about New McLean is that you did not have these long type of hallways that went on forever. There were short hallways that just took a right and left hand turn so that it doesn't appear that you're in a hotel and that was the main thing that she really liked about it. There were a very few residents around when we were there. The few that we did see seemed to be very pleasant and independent and that was really the setting that she was looking for. The staff was very professional, very nice and very kind. They seemed to gauge themselves to my mother's need.

This assisted living facility provided the staff and community in which one needs for a speedy and healthy recovery. They engage the residents in many events several which are put on by groups from around the town community. The facilities are well maintained and up to date. The staff was all very helpful and someone was always available to talk to if the resident or family member had questions. It was reassuring to know that someone could always be contacted. The food facilities were also very good. There was a wide range of food that was available. In term of the rehabilitation services the staff was very patient and helpful. They obviously had much experience in the fields in which they were trained. The same staff member tried to work with the same resident each day however, if a new staff member needed to step in for any reason they were well informed on what had been done in previous sessions.
