I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is in Masonicare at Chester Village. We chose it because it was the most country setting, like being in a home. It's not an institution. It's very homey. You have your own apartment. They have a dining room, and they have meals. It's very luxurious. She's independent living, with an aide living with her in her apartment, but they have assisted living and memory care as well. The staff members are all very, very caring, and very helpful. They're always available for whatever you need. If you need maintenance, they fix it. If you can't get your TV on, they come turn it on for you. She has the option to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the dining room or she can have breakfast in their apartment. It's like a five-star restaurant. We eat there all the time. There are all kinds of activities. They have everything you could want to do if you're able to do it. They do movies, they do plays, they do bus trips, they have a gym, they have an indoor pool, they have an outdoor pool, and they have walking trails. They take them to dinner at outside restaurants three times a week with the bus. They have all kinds of stuff. If you need somebody just to give you meds, they give you meds. If you need somebody to come in and give you showers, they'll give you showers. It's like you can pick and choose what you need.

I visited this facility

Masonicare at Chester Village was a very nice place. We had a nice tour, and it was very informative. They answered all my questions. The people that were walking around looked very happy. The buildings were immaculate. The grounds look like they have a lot of planting. It's a wooded area, so you got plenty of walking trails, so it was very nice. The food smelled good, but I didn't try any food. They have a lot of things going on. They have all kinds of card games. They have an exercise room and a pool. They do senior aerobics, senior exercise, and senior yoga. They do all that kind of stuff. It was very interesting. The rooms were gorgeous. The particular one that I was looking at is a one-bedroom plus den, and it was big enough to put my dining room set in there too. They are all updated with new appliances and a granite counter. It was beautiful. The staff members that I met were very nice and very friendly. The facility itself was as clean as a whistle.

I am/was a resident of this facility

This was the only senior living community I visited, after checking out other places via web sites and phone calls. I came to one open house...11 minutes from my country-setting home in Killingworth...and I knew immediately this could be my next home. Compared to other places in CT, Chester Village met all my needs; a lovely rural setting, small cozy layout of connected buildings, lovely grounds, expansive updated apartments, pet friendly, yummy food and incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable staff. I moved in last fall and have discovered what a Gem on the Shoreline Chester Village is. Now, with 9 months under my belt, I have found a family of seniors of varied backgrounds who make the place feel like home! I am very social and outgoing, so I have made many friends and am more active, creative and happier than I was the previous 6 years! The staff is phenomenal in every way! Kind, helpful and REAL! If there is a problem with anything, there is someone who will work on resolving it or find someone else who can address the issue. Masonicare has invested dedicated resources, time and attention to updating the campus- in their effort to provide the best experience for those living and working here. And we residents have a voice that is listened to and respected. All in all, I am very grateful to be living here, and so is my family! Treat yourself to a visit and you will leave CHARMED!

I visited this facility

I have visited Chester Village West and that was my favorite place, but they don't have memory care. It was very nice, we had lunch there, and the people were very nice. The apartments were spacious compared to some of the others that I saw. It is basically independent living, and then you bring in people that you need for memory care or whatever. I am an artist and we had an art show there, they had a reception for us, and people came to see our art. My problem is that my husband has Alzheimer's, and he is losing a lot of his memory and he is losing his words, so for me I have to have a special kind of place.
