My father-in-law was in Geer Village. To me, it's the nicest one in the area. They have a YMCA attached to that one; it makes it very attractive for me. They have a pool that doesn't use chlorine. It's all oxygen-cleaned, so it's always gorgeous. The facility was really, really beautiful. It's cheaper than most places, and it is a big place. If anybody's looking for a place, I'd give them Geer Village. They would be really impressed. The downside here is that it's in Canaan, so there are no stores or anything there. He went from independent living to assisted living, and then he went to memory care. They took really good care of him for seven years. I went there two years ago, and they look the same. They happen to have a good nursing staff. They have a doctor on-site that comes once or twice a week, so as far as the care is concerned, they were excellent. They're a little different than other places. Because if you're in independent living, you get a bigger room with a kitchen (since you don't get as many meals). If you need assisted living, you get a different room with three meals a day. The rooms are a little geared to what kind of care you need. The independent and assisted living are all mixed in together. They have a menu that would be like a menu for a fairly expensive restaurant. They have 25-30 choices every day for every meal. They have everything. You name it, and they have it. The place was unbelievably, exceptionally clean.

Independent at the lodge means no care at all. Wellness center is completely dis functional. Activities are pathetic for independent folks. The food is like crappy cafeteria. No security at all. Communication with the residents is lacking or they are treated like children. I’m sorry I moved my parents there but I think this is the case every where now.

The rooms are on the small side and the thermostats are hard to use. There is a shortage of staff and the place is not as clean as it used to be. The building is looking a bit worn these days. The residents have a number of activities but it is very limited for residents who are very old. The nearby town is dull and does not offer much to offer the residents. The food is bland and boring. It has a nice courtyard with flowers and plants but it is hard for residents to get to it.

Geer Village was beautiful. It's very well kept and very clean. The staff was very gracious. The lady who provided the tour was a lovely person and not too aggressive. She just told us everything we had to know. She was great. The apartment was very, very spacious. The independent living has got anything you could possibly need like there's the stove, a refrigerator, a microwave, and walk-in closets. It's a very nice place. They had many opportunities for recreation. I liked the idea that the YMCA is right adjacent to it, and that you will be members of the YMCA when you live at Geer Village. So, there's the swimming pool and everything else that you're entitled to. I also liked the fact there was a chapel and a visiting priest that comes on Sundays. There are enough elevators available, too. Their dining room was beautiful. The meal plan looked great.

I did a tour of Geer Village, and I like the facility. Physically, I thought it was terrific, and the programs were good. The person who took me around was excellent. He was very friendly and very attractive. The price was right. They have programs, a sports place, and a library. They have a hairdresser that comes once or twice a week or something, and you book an appointment.

They were friendly and nice at Geer Village. The facilities were good. They were very much aware of COVID and were quite restrictive about it. They were quite expensive.

My relative really likes being in Geer Village. It's a beautiful place with lots to do, and so far he hasn't had any issues. The staff is very friendly, and we haven't had any problems, except one time when a staff took my relative's drawing from the nurse's station and put it back in his room, which upset him. My relative is in the assisted living and has an apartment. They have painting, a pool table, trips, and many different things for the residents. The pricing is expensive, though.

Geer Village is a place with very comfortable apartments. I like that there are interesting lectures in the local institution called the Taconic Learning Center throughout the year, and it also has a YMCA gym attached to it. The staff that I met seemed to be really good. Their amenities include a library, a chapel, a meeting hall, and all the usual things. They have a greater variety in the apartments compared to other senior communities I've been to. The only downside is that it's located in a town that's of no special interest. Canaan isn't a very exciting place.

My cousin was moved to Geer Village from rehab, where she had a small furnished apartment, but she only survived a week there. She wasn't there very long. That was a very excellent facility. She had just whatever she needed. We were very impressed with everything about Geer Village. It was very well-managed, very bright, and happy as much as it could be. They had a lot of activities, and the staff was excellent, very helpful, and very patient. There was a lot of things to do, and the people who stayed there were very friendly and supportive. It was a good experience; we were very happy with it. She liked the food there a lot.

My family moved me into an independent apartment on the very day I was widowed. From that very night my comfort and security was guaranteed. The services and programs available prove that people care. The personnel, professionals are well-trained staff, alert and caring.
