My father-in-law has moved into The Gardens at Columbine. He chose it. His room is nice and has natural light. He's in a studio. The meals have been very good according to him and also my other family members. They have lectures, happy hour, and some physical activity options. They have lots of activities and he's very happy with them. The staff is very competent and polite.

Gardens at Columbine was on a very busy street, but they were OK. The place was very noisy because of the location. The staff was very responsive to us, but it was very busy. The room was smaller than the place we chose. The person who helped us during the tour was excellent.

My parents are in The Gardens at Columbine. We chose it because the cost was within the range that I wanted it to be for two people. It also has a lot of grounds where the residents can walk outside, sit, and enjoy the mountain view. I just felt it was a happy community compared to some of the other places I looked at. I just felt this was a good location for them. They're only in assisted living and they don't have anybody coming in every day, but there are people available if they need them. So far, my parents are very happy there. They haven't complained about the food so it must be good. They have a winter festival and they have a summer carnival, so they have a lot of things for people who have grandkids. The kids can come and play and have a good time. They have cocktail hour, a really nice ice cream bar, and they also do games like Bingo. It's everything that I was looking for, but more than anything, they're not confined, they have large grounds to walk around so they don't feel like they're in prison. That's what I liked the most about it.

The Gardens at Columbine was a great place. The residents had a lot of freedom of movement in the place, a lot of places to go. They were eating when I was there, and it looked fine. I saw a chapel, and they had a library. They were doing chapel when I was there

I saw the memory unit of The Gardens at Columbine. Their rooms are nice. They’re kind of small, but the general area isn’t as nice. Their food looked good. It’s closer than any of the other places -- about a 10-minute drive. The staff members were cheerleaders. They were very nice. All of them were certified for dealing with dementia. They seemed to be very accommodating, and they take care of their residents. I talked to several of the residents. They seemed very nice and happy.

I liked the Gardens, but it was too expensive. It was very, very nice. There was an activity that was very much like bingo. It looked like a lot of fun. They had either a single room or a double room. They had a bus there that was available to you at all times.

The Gardens at Columbine is a lovely place to move your aging parent to. The grounds are lovely and the atmoshphere is relaxing. The activity director, van driver and other staff are doing a great job. My mother moved in a year ago and she likes it a lot. I can't imagine her living in any other facility. I didn't give them five stars because they are currently in transition with a new director. He is still learning and growing. He does give his best effort, however. Although the food is not as good as it was with the last director and the communication between residents' family members and staff is not as good as it could be, it is evident that they are working hard to improve, and it is getting better. With the increase in residents, they could use more staff. I would recommend this assisted living facility. The residents there seem to be very happy and content.

This locally owned assisted living community opened in 2000, and is frequently filled to capacity, with no immediate vacancies. Pets are welcome here, which is unique in the area. There are nice gardens with bright flowers planted on the outside for residents to tend and enjoy in a pleasant setting that includes a stream and gazebo. The activities offered are the usual things"”most of them are inside rather than offsite. The meals are served family style, and residents complain about the quality of food and selections offered. There are 100 apartments available, and the total cost is determined by a "point" system. For example, the base price is $3,500 for studio or $4,100 for a one-bedroom unit, both of which also come with 9 points. Those points may be used for goods and services there--3 points may be for laundry, 6 points for monitoring medication. There are six caregivers on duty during the day and two at night"”only one of whom is an LPN; that staffing level is insufficient for 100 residents. Gardens at Columbine may be a good fit for those who are fairly independent and able to make their own choices and don't need a lot of additional care and services. -Ruth Hillesheim, a social worker with extensive nursing home experience, with an emphasis on Alzheimer's and dementia care.
