Aegis Living Ventura was a very nice facility. My mother-in-law was in assisted living. They brought in hospice towards the end and took very good care of her. The staff was fantastic. It's a very clean facility and very caring as far as what they do for the residents. I can't say enough good stuff about the place. I never tried the food myself, but according to my mother, it was pretty darn good. The food looked good to me. The facility was very well kept up. The landscaping was very nice. They had a little courtyard area in the back, that was very nice, too, with a gazebo and everything. Mom never really participated in too many of the activities. As I was coming in, you would pass by the room where they did everything, but it looked like they always had something going on. I know they did sing-alongs. The price was a little on the higher end overall, but you got what you pay for. She was somewhere around the $7000 plus range, but I know that's partly the area and the level of care. They were bringing her, her meals every day, helping her with showers, all that stuff. She had plenty of room, and it had a nice layout. It was like one main room, so she had her TV on one side and a big kind of bay window, so she could look out, and the bathroom was nice and roomy enough to get a wheelchair inside if need be. It was well-maintained and had fresh paint. The maintenance staff there was good.

During my fathers short stay at Aegis of Ventura I found aegis to be short staffed , incompetent, over priced , unwilling to assist my fathers care until they review his case and charge extra and even then aegis failed to give my father the care he needed and paid extra for so we were left with no other choice but to relocate him immediately! I do not recommend aegis !!!

Aegis of Ventura was beautiful, and it looked like the people were very well cared for. The facilities for memory care looked like they would be amazing for my mother-in-law. Of what little we did see, the rooms looked nice, clean, and roomy. The grounds were clean, well kept, manicured, and very beautiful. I would say that it would be a welcome, loving, and caring place. I think the people there were great, and the programs they had were wonderful, so I would recommend it.

Aegis of Ventura was absolutely beautiful. It was like walking into a nice hotel and very expensive, but I didn’t feel it was the right fit for my husband because the distances were too far. You walk down this long hall of doors on either side that was their bedrooms, or what they call suites, and then from there to the dining room was quite a distance, and my husband would never have found it. It just was too far to go anywhere, and he would have needed way too much help. Frankly, they have so many amenities that my husband would not have been able to participate in. I think it was lovely, but I just didn’t think it was suitable for us.

Aegis was very friendly and with no pressure; they took their time and showed me all the different types of rooms. They introduced me to the different people that worked there. When I went, there was a nice memorial for one of their residents. They have another separate building for memory care people. It was very touching to see how they cared for those patients. It was beautiful, and I was ready to move in myself. You really felt well cared for.

On a trip to Ventura, California, we visited the Aegis assisted living facility, in search for a place for our uncle to live. Our uncle has always loved the wonderful coastal climate and knows many of the merchants at the local Ventura mall. We were immediately taken with the beauty of the Spanish style buildings, which resemble where our uncle had been living on his own. The landscaped courtyards grace the entire facility and are accessible throughout. They were very accommodating, despite the fact that we did not have an appointment. We were shown around the facility and got to meet many of the staff, who were all very cordial. Our uncle has some memory issues and it is suspected that he has early Alzheimer's, so we were relieved to know that Aegis specializes in handling that type of resident. The communal areas were are all spacious with many interesting activities and they have regular entertainment at the facility. There are private rooms for special occasions. Our uncle loves to play card games and was happy to find out that they have some tournaments going at times. Every room had fresh flowers. The family room has a computer which makes it easy for him to stay in touch with family. The various suites offered were all larger than the ones in the Los Angeles city area and resembled high-priced lodgings along the coast. Even the studio was large, at just under 400 sq. ft. Our uncle really liked the choice of year-round outings, gym facilities and availability of golf, one of his favorite past times. There is also massage therapy available and a barber, lovely dining rooms and large patios. The food was some of the best we've ever had, much like that from a four or five star restaurant "“ with room service and snacks anytime you like. This facility is really run much like a high-end hotel "“ with a concierge always available for special requests or assistance. It's clear that this facility really goes out of their way to make sure the residents are very well cared for.
