I was in Vacaville Convalescent & Rehab, and I think the facility was very nice and clean. They’re attentive, and the people seemed to be well trained and educated in what they’re doing. I didn’t have any big complaints. I don’t know if you could a private room or not, but I had two different room partners, and we all got along fine. They have activities that you can go to everyday. They have a salon that you could get your hair done. The food was pretty good. They have a nice thing that once a month the owner and a couple of the other fellas they can order, and then once a month they have a special dinner that you can sing up and go to and when I was there they had lobster, and it was really good. Everybody goes down to the dining room and served you. I would recommend it.

This place looks nice and cheerful but the lack of quality care is unbelievable . It takes on average 30-60 mins to get a response when nurse call button is pressed. The food was always cold and didn't taste good. My mom lost 10 pounds in one week and they did nothing. There were a few nurses that were great but the bad ones far out numbered the good ones. My mom threw up in her bed and they gave her a towel to cover the wet spot rather that changing her bed or her. They would give her 15 pills to take at one time!! Half of them weren't even necessary. If you have a family member here please, please check up on them regularly and make complaints to the administrator. I made a 4 page written complaint the last day my mom was there, but I doubt anything will change. My moms room had 2 beds and 1 tv. Which caused issues when she got a roommate. They did have activities daily for residents which was nice unless your room was directly across from the activity room where they played bingo everyday. All you can hear is B18, O67 all afternoon. The patients only receive a shower 2 times a week, which was frustrating for my mom as she was used to showering everyday at home. I feel bad for the patients that don't have family to speak up for them. Especially after finding out the cost they charge residents to stay here. Don't be fooled by the pretty decorations. I will admit this place was a lot better than most in the area, but they still would only get 1 star from me! There are a lot of improvements they should make in their policies and procedures.

I had an excellent experience at Vacaville Convalescent Rehab after surgery. The staff was what made it excellent because they were great. The rehabilitation folks worked well for me. The room was adequate. I took all of my meals at the bedside, but they did have a simple dining facility. The food was good. They had amenities and activities. Overall, I would take them over the other homes because of the way I was treated. The facility was clean and did not smell like a hospital.

The reason we visited Vacaville Convalescent & Rehab is that my husband did have his rehab there, and they have assisted living there too. It's small, but with good help, good care, and good food. He participated in physical therapy when he could. They had excellent physical therapy and excellent cleanliness. They really kept their people clean, which was not easy, but they did. They were hardworking. They had a lot of staff there, and they were very pleasant people. The dining area was very attractive, and they decorated it like all the homes decorate for every holiday. It's not really beautiful, but what I liked about it is that they really care for their people -- nobody's dirty, everybody gets very well taken care of, excellent care. Some doctors even put their parents in there because they get such good clean care and medicine and everything.
