I went to Victoria's Place. The gentleman who owns the place, owns 3 of them, and they're decent homes. They have about 4 patients, 2 caregivers, home-cooked meals, and they take them to doctors. I liked that there's no price-cap on the services. However, we're not ready to move my brother-in-law yet. I really think that the person who owns the facility knows what he does, he outlines it very well for you, and the place is clean and tidy.

This is one of three assisted living homes I've toured--all owned by Loving Care Homes. The other two are Eva's Garden and Elsa's Home. I know the owner, and she's very dedicated. There's no memory care at either this home or the other two; most of the residents tend to be highly functioning. Victoria's Place is located about two miles outside of Santa Rosa, in an older, upscale residential neighborhood. All the homes in the neighnorhood are well kept up. This one is a new, large, one-story home. It's modern, with huge front and back patios. It has 6 rooms, all large doubles. Residents are encouraged to bring their own belongings, but the owner will provide furnishings if the resident prefers. The security is also quite good. The care staff is warm and welcoming, well qualified and well trained. I referred a resident here who has special medical needs, and he says they've been very much on top of it. The food is quite good, but there's limited choice--just one selection for each meal: breakfast, a kind of brunch snack, lunch, and dinner. But the residents have a lot of say in the meals, and chef is very good. Activities consist mostly of walks in the neighborhood, which has beautiful scenery: trees, flowers, mountain views (it's close to wine country). Other activities include arts and crafts, daily exercise, and outings to the movies or mall.
