My step-dad stayed just about three months at the Santa Monica Health Care Center. I didn’t really have much interaction with the staff other than over the phone with their social worker, who was very helpful. The day-to-day care, I didn’t really meet those people, but there was one occasion when he asked for some water and they came into the room and went and got it for him. The response was quick, and there were no complaints from him. The facility was clean. I used the restroom and it was clean. The 2-bedroom room that he was in didn’t have a lot of room. There were two patients in the room. There wasn’t a lot of separation between the two beds; maybe a bed table's width or a little bit more. I think they did have curtains. It’s pretty crowded because, when a couple of us would come to visit, we'd have to hustle up a chair. That was a little bit hard because sometimes one had to stand while the other one sat. I think the lighting was OK, and there was a window. I would say the place would be more of a clinical than a homey atmosphere. There were really no grounds to speak of there; theres a street view. There was a patio outdoors that you could go out on, which is nice and kind of a getaway from everybody. They have a big shiny piano. They have just a single elevator, which is big. There’s a parking attendant so you don’t have to try and find street parking. Santa Monica Parking is horrible, so it is a plus for a visitor.

I agree with the first review. My relative is in this facility. I am amazed at the poor treatment he receives there. They are confused, lose his clothes all the time, don't even know the names of the doctors who work there, don't change his diapers regularly, didn't elevate his leg when he had a clot, only pick the laundry up every other day (they know he has incontinence issues) The food is disgusting. They released him without treatment without telling me until I asked two days later, letting him sit there without physical therapy (the only reason he was there) because they thought they didn't take his insurance (they did, they never called the number that was given to them to find out, they just assumed they didn't)

Not impressed. Quality is very uneven at this facility, especially record keeping is poor. Medicine is not given according to orders. In our experience doses were often missed. Patients are not turned every two hours to prevent bed sores and staff do
