The very first one we saw was The Stratford. It's quite an elegant place. It presents very nicely. It's very nice and clean. The units are a little bit on the small side, but very nice, and they have (I think) 11 floors, so it's a high rise, and they have nice views. Everything about it seemed very nice. The staff who accommodated me was very nice and very accommodating. She answered questions and gave us materials to bring home. She followed up by asking questions online to see if I had any more questions, which was good. We were looking at larger units, so we saw a two-bedroom unit. The second bedroom was kind of small, but it's an older building and I think the older buildings don't have as large units. They also have parking for people that still have cars. One of the things about The Stratford is that the places are condominiums. So you buy a unit as if you're living in a condominium, so it's a different model. Most of them, you're renting a room by the month, and you pay an entrance fee. Whereas at The Stratford, you own the unit, and you pay a condominium fee like you would in a condominium building. Some people might like that, but we didn't really like that model. The location is very good because it's across from a city park. The ambiance of the area is quite good.

We toured The Stratford. The tour was fine. The building was very nice. It's really designed as more of an independent and assisted living facility; it doesn't have memory care. The rooms are nice. A lot of them were updated. Being COVID, we didn't see many people around, and it didn't seem like they had a lot of activities planned.

The Stratford was gorgeous, but it was very expensive to buy-in. For a 2-bedroom apartment, it was $988,000 -- which is way over my budget -- and then you pay $3000 or $4000 every month after that. It’s in a nice section of town. It was opposite a public park which was lovely. The grounds were small but beautiful. The people seemed very nice and very cooperative. I’d select it if I had that kind of money. All the apartments had a balcony, but the second bedroom in the 2-bedroom apartment was a little small. They had a pool and a Jacuzzi, and they had a trainer in the gym. The dining room was lovely. They have chauffeurs to go to doctors, even up to San Francisco for theater. It’s a class A+ place. They had everything I wanted except that it was over my budget.

The rooms at Stratford were very spacious. The dining area was very nice, elegant, and first class. The people were very nice and helpful. They had a pool, exercise room, really nice common areas, a movie area with a large-screen TV, and a library.

The Stratford was perfect. We went there for a visit and everything was just what we wanted. The apartments were cozy and fully furnished. The food was excellent. And the residents seemed to get along with each other.
