My mom and sister moved to Majella Assisted Living in San Marcos. They've been there for a month now, and they're doing well. It's a newer facility and it's been very good. They've really worked with us and helped us out in a lot of ways. I'm very satisfied with it. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and they're present 24/7. I know that they have that at other assisted living places, but this one only has eleven rooms, so they have a lot bigger staff-to-resident ratio, which is just the way they need it. That's why we're there. The rooms are nice. Right now they mostly have private rooms, but they have two that can be shared so two people can be in a single room. It's a bigger room, but they set it up that way, I think, for cost reasons. The other rooms are private rooms. They don't have a ton of amenities like a lot of the other assisted living places. They have a courtyard where the residents can go outside. They have a kind of a meeting room too. It's a bigger living-room area where they have a TV and they can go in and do stuff. They don't have hair salons or anything like that because the people there need more medical assistance. They have food and everything for them, but it's not a huge, wide selection of food because there are not as many people. It's not like you can look at a menu, like they had at the different ones we looked at, where it's more independent living and you can have a wide variety of choices. They don't have that. Their food's really good, but they can't pick from five different things. They have a room where you can do stuff, but not like a lot of the bigger facilities. It is more focused on their medical attention than activities. It's not like they are having bingo nights or a barbecues all the time, like how you see it in a lot of the other facilities. This facility is not set up for that kind of thing. It's a little bit more on the expensive side, but because you have so much more medical attention, it's actually very cheap for what you get, especially for people who need a lot of medical assistance like my mom and sister.
