I toured Brookdale San Jose. I like the presentation of the place. It was pretty smooth and clean. They look well-kept. Older people looked active and thriving; I was a little impressed with all that. I had never been to one of those places before, so I didn't know what to expect, but I was impressed with that place. The staff members who toured us have been great troves of information and understanding. I was very appreciative of that. With regards to dining, I looked at their menu, and it looked pretty good and cool, but I didn't eat anything. For activities, there were people playing bingo, there were people playing poker, and there were people outside in the garden area doing their thing. I saw people eating in the dining room. And they were setting up for activities like TV time or something like that. The community looked excellent.

Brookdale San Jose was a very good place. The gal we spoke to, Devin, was very helpful, very informative, and answered the questions we had. The menu looked terrific, and they would provide 2 meals a day. Everything was clean. The apartment we saw was very nice. This facility was more confined. It was more indoors. It was like a land cruise; everything was indoors. When we were there, a couple of people came up and said hi. They just acknowledged us and it was very pleasant. We used the restrooms, and they all were very clean.

I liked that Brookdale San Jose was on a big lot of property. I did like the security and the safety measures set up at their facility. The staff was nice, and I liked them a lot. They probably offered the most activities that I have seen. They had the most programming scheduled for their memory care. So, they would give my father a lot of opportunities to be outside and do a lot of the landscaping and work in the yard. Their staff was the best I've seen. I liked the space that it's in and the surroundings. They had a nice big yard. I liked their activities. I would rather see their memory care a little bit better, but honestly, it's not different than anybody else's. They're all small and they're all cramped.

My mother had one month of respite care at Brookdale San Jose. It's a mature facility that had lots to offer. They're all set up. The grounds were clean. It's more like a cruise ship. Her room was very nice and clean. It's been renovated. They're short on staff. Because they were short, they took a long time to get anything done, but what they would do met the needs that were expected. The dining area was not set up to handle allergens, which is a big concern. They had exercise, games, socializing, and crafts.

I like Brookdale San Jose. I talked to the staff. She's very informative. She showed me through. It seems like what I was hoping for my husband. She said that they could handle the two-person transfer required for my husband. They have scheduled activities for the residents. My husband is not able to participate actively in activities, but he does like being around other people and watching what they're doing, so I think he would get good mental stimulation from there. They have transportation to help with transporting him to doctor's appointments. It had a nice feel to it, very similar to where he's at. I was very impressed with the place, and I think I'm going to pursue that one further. The director and the nurse came yesterday to assess where he is currently at and to talk to the med tech and the director of the memory section to get a good feel for my husband's capabilities and what kind of care we need. The shared rooms are quite nice. There's ample space. You can put pictures and things on the wall. You have to furnish it with a bed, a table and those types of things. There's a shared bathroom for two residents, but it seems very clean. They are prepared to use a Hoyer lift to give my husband showers. It seems quite well done.

We went to Brookdale San Jose. It was very favorable. It was clean. It was pretty much updated. The staff was very attentive, professional, and kind. I was favorably impressed with the accommodations. I saw the food and it looked appetizing. It was also attractive, elegant, and more up-to-date than a lot of the other facilities that I had visited.

Brookdale San Jose was a very nice facility. We were there just about at dinner time, and people were already seated in the dining room. We were able to see what their meals look like, and they were nice. It looks like a restaurant. We only met with the marketing lady. They had a lot of amenities. There was a game group going on. They were playing basketball sitting on chairs, and the residents were sitting maybe 15 feet away across the room. They were trying to make baskets, and the baskets are on the chair. They had another game with a bunch of Frisbees on the ground, and they were trying to throw baseballs into them. We did meet their activity director. He was a good guy, a bundle of energy, and a really happy guy. He was getting the residents involved, so that was good. They have bocce ball, bingo, and bunco, which are things that my sister likes. The living atmosphere is very good. It's like a hotel. The only disadvantage is that it's a very large facility, and it's spread out over nine acres. The place where they would have a room for my sister was quite a way from the dining room and quite a way from the main activity areas. She would have had to be able to walk a long way to get to the daily activities, and the dining room was even quite a distance from the room they had available. It was built in 1986, but it appears to be relatively new. They did say they had gone through it and refurbished the whole place not too long ago, and it was in like new condition.

Brookdale San Jose has been remodeled. The one bedrooms are pretty good sized. They provide meals, laundry, help, transportation, and activities. It's very close to shopping, which is nice, and it's also close to where I go to church. They have assisted living, too. But the one thing that I have to do to get there is to make sure that I have the funding or the money to do it. The staff were very nice. It looked pretty darn clean. The bedroom size was good.

Brookdale San Jose was too big. I felt like walking into a hotel room. It wasn't that warm. Their one-bedroom apartment was too small, but it was well furnished and attractive. The two-bedroom was really nice. I liked it. It had more of a feeling of space, and I felt like my furniture would fit into the two-bedroom. The grounds were lovely and beautifully maintained. The food at the bistro was also lovely. It was very well prepared and presented. I think all of their staff were professional, but a little pushy. They were friendly and open, but we had a feeling that they just didn't quite get what it was like to be older. The place was nicely appointed. One of the presenters was a resident, and he was very enthusiastic about how much he really liked the place. They had a beauty shop that does haircuts. They had their own chef who was quite entertaining. He talked a little bit about his job and the food that he prepares. I enjoyed that part of it.

The tour experience at Brookdale San Jose was great. The lobby was actually not as clean as I hoped it would be, but the staff was fine and very knowledgeable. The facility looked like an old hotel that they remodeled. Overall, it was the one I was least impressed with. They need to improve on cleanliness, too.

I visited Brookdale San Jose just to get an idea of what's available. It was very good. I thought it was a very nice facility. I like what I saw and it seemed to be run very well. I saw a few residents walking down the hall and they said hi. They all seemed quite happy. It's very spacious and well laid out, which I like. I didn't find anything there that would make me rate it less. The staff members were very nice and very friendly. In fact, the main person that arranged the tour for me was the one who personally took me around and showed me around. I spent about an hour there looking at everything. Food was one thing that I wouldn't be able to rate because I'm from India so my diet and needs are a little bit different. Because of the pandemic, they didn't really invite me to sit down and have a meal, which I would have actually liked to do.

Brookdale San Jose was old. I wouldn't recommend it 'cause I thought it was old and depressing. The only upside that it had was that it's less costly. It's a cheaper place, and the staff there was very nice. The rooms were small and a lot older looking. They have a pretty outdoor space, and it was clean.

In Brookdale San Jose I was looking at a two-bedroom or bedrooms with a lounge or living room and it was for two people. It was a shared or a companion room, that's what they called them. They were really nice, their facilities were really nice, and the apartments were really nice. The staff was really nice and they were kind to me. The food was really good and they had many choices, even at lunchtime, so that's really great. They had a lot of activities. They gave me a list of all the stuff that they do, and it was quite extensive. A lot of the times they had two to three things going on at the same time. They had a cafe, they had amenities that other places don't have, and they had a beauty parlor, so it was really nice.

Brookdale San Jose was exceptional, but it was more expensive than what we could pay. The person that conducted the tour provided all of the information, was very thorough and very helpful. I would live there. The rooms were above and beyond. They were a little bit bigger than what I had seen at other places, very nicely laid out and updated.

We liked Brookdale San Jose a lot. It was very well-organized and the people there went out of their way to answer our questions. It's not all just one level, but the pattern of how you get around inside was very agreeable to my sister. She has mobility problems, and she may have to walk a distance to an elevator, but it was all indoors. They have a lot of things for the residents that my sister is interested in, and they have a variety of levels of care. So when the time comes that she needs help or if she'd need mental help, it's just right there. We've visited this community twice because they invited us to brunch and it was great.

I moved into Brookdale, and it's very friendly, both the staff and the people living there. So far, I have heard nothing but good comments from people who lived there for several years. There's quite a few activities going on every day, a good library, and computer rooms. The apartment is modest. The food is good, and there's enough variety to appeal to someone.

The Atrium (Brookdale San Jose) was good, but it was three stories and cramped. They had an exercise room but no swimming pool or gym. They had good food, but they had five different seatings at dinner to eat.

Brookdale San Jose was a little more standoffish, and I felt you had to be a little more proactive there to get some assistance. The lady who took us on the tour was very nice. The rooms were a comparable size. It's a nice-looking facility with halls that were adequately wide enough. The dining hall looked nice and had a lot of activities.

Brookdale San Jose is clean, upscale, and has everything my loved one needs. Her room is a beautiful and brand-new one-bedroom that's big and spacious. The staff and food are very good. We're very pleased. They have singers, piano, movies, cards, painting, and everything that she needs.

Mom was in Brookdale. They ate in a restaurant type room, and they didn’t monitor what they ate, so she was eating the same thing at lunch, though the food was good. We would go there, and she would be sitting at a table all by herself. It was a healthier group. She had a studio apartment. They let us eat and sleep there. She liked to play cards and Bingo.

The Atrium (Brookdale San Jose) had a very pleasant staff, but I did not find it clean. It is a little old with a lot of older people, which bothered my father. I knew right away that it was not the place for him. It was like a hotel with everything is confined in the building. There was a place outside where you go and sit, but basically everything else was inside the building. They have a set menu, which I did not like. The bedrooms were big, and there were activities happening during my visit because it was Christmas time, but it did not have the right atmosphere for my father.

My sisters and I went to four different facilities and the one we liked the most was Brookdale San Jose. We thought that it was fantastic, and we liked the units that had the open patios and that there are all sorts of different functions or things that the adults can enjoy and socialize. We also liked their cooking because we had lunch there and the lunch was absolutely great. This one, we thought my parents would like.

We moved my dad into Brookdale San Jose. He has been living there since January. It is great. The staff is great. They’re awesome. My dad is in an apartment. It is big, clean, and brand new. They have bingo and poker. My dad is not very social, but they have quite a few activities so it is very nice.

At Brookdale San Jose, there is an active community in the independent care section. They have independent, assisted living, and memory care sections. Memory care was important to us. My mom is in the independent living area, and my dad is in memory care. For the most part, the staff really has a good work ethic and a very good attitude. Everybody is very friendly, and they know my parents by name. Compared to some of the other places in the area, the kitchen is very small for independent living, but otherwise, it wasn’t any different than the ones at other places I have seen. The apartment itself is nice and well-maintained.

I like everything about Brookdale San Jose. The facility is very clean. They have good food. The activities are good, nice location, and good transportation. The only thing I didn’t like is that they didn't seem as welcoming with their clients with dementia, and they are very inflexible. My mother would have been right there now, but they would not take her in to their assisted living because they had mild dementia.

Brookdale San Jose was very nice and with newer rooms. They did a lot of remodeling, so it’s very pretty. The people were very nice too, and we actually put a deposit down there. My parents were going to move in, but we had some incident, and it didn’t happen. But they were very expensive.

My mother-in-law is in Brookdale San Jose. I like its closeness to our residence. I like the multiple levels of care from independent to memory care. I like the availability of a small kitchenette for her. I like the social activities, the transportation, and the general feel of the facility itself. The rooms and apartments are small, but well appointed.

I did visit The Atrium San Jose (Brookdale San Jose). The facility was good, but the people living there were telling me they were not happy. The room was good -- everything was good. I just basically want my mother to eat the diet that she's used to. Indian food is very vegetarian, so she really would have a hard time managing. They didn't have too many activities, but the staff was good and helpful. The room was very nice, and it had a kitchenette, but my mother refused to even want to cook her own food. I suggest that every meal should have a vegetarian option.

I was able to visit Brookdale San Jose, and it is a very nice facility. The people there were very friendly and thoughtful about showing us around and answered questions very thoroughly. We saw a two-bedroom apartment that we are interested in. Size-wise, it was good, but they definitely need to update the cabinetry and the kitchen and vanities in the bathroom as they are very outdated. They have lot of activities going on, and I think that is very fine. We ate a meal, and it's very good.

The largest one that we went to was the Atrium by Brookdale. This one has very nice parking and a lot of activities going on. I kind of like this one, and we were somewhat familiar with it because we take our dog down there, but we had never been on a tour of the place. We did go on a tour of it, and it was quite good.

The Atrium Retirement Community was nice. They were very accommodating. However, they just haven't gotten back to us -- no phone call, no nothing -- and they said it would be about a month. This was in August, and we put a deposit down and everything. It was close to my house, and it was very good place to put my mom. The experience of going there was great. However, their response in getting back to us was horrible. I mean, they took our money, we heard nothing from them, they said it will be about a month, and it had been 7 months.

I had an elderly friend who I took care of off and on and she was at Atrium San Jose before she passed away. I thought it was a pleasant facility. She made friends there. I was there all the time. It is a good facility especially for somebody that needs a little bit of help; however, I think they need more caregivers per floor. As a whole, I think Atrium is probably as good as the rest of them here.

My mom is at Atrium San Jose. It is close to me and my mom likes it there. It is an independent living but they have and on sight homestead care there. They staff is very good and friend. She likes the apartment. She is in a one bedroom apartment and it is in a pretty good size and she's more comfortable there. They have a lot of activities, like singing, piano player. They have happy hour on Wednesday. They have a lot of going on there. One of the better ones I have seen. Unfortunately, my mom is not very active right now. There is a nice outside garden. So, they take her out there. The food is actually very good and the dining room is very spacious. I would recommend it to others. The only drawback is that the caregivers cannot eat with her. So, they have to wait outside until she's done. But they do come in and check them out. I recommend this facility to others.

Due to the fact that my client moved in a few months ago, I have become a regular bi-weekly visitor at the Atrium. I visit several assisted and independent living facilities as an outside consultant and the Atrium has brought a lot of joy to my clients life. It has far surpassed her own expectations of hospitality living and she loves the food! My client aged 91 had been living in a 55+ mobile home park for the last 30 years, she lost her husband 5 years ago so she had been a bit isolated and needed to be around other folks going through the same phase of life. At this age it was critical this be the right move for her. I recommend a gradual transition like she did, visit the facility a few times before the move, giving your senior ample time to adjust to the thought of moving into any facility. The staff at the Atrium accommodated these wishes for my client and so when it came time for the move, the staff and surroundings were familiar to her. To make it seem even more homier, my client was able to pick a color scheme for her walls to be painted. As a bonus it is conveniently located near a shopping mall with restaurants, movie theatre, shopping and banking - all within walking distance which is great exercise for the seniors. I commend the staff at the Atrium and really find their facility to be top notch. Job well done and deserving of a five star rating.
