We needed a home for our elderly family friend who lost the ability to walk and take care of herself within just a few months. Truly a stressful decision! Lafayette Gardens took her in and has provided her with compassion and great care. It's been challenging but they understand the balance between her desire for independence and physical and emotional needs. It was amazing to see the improvement in her after just a few short weeks! Her room is roomy and bright and while we brought in her own furniture, a hospital bed was provided. And the big screen TV was a bonus! The house itself is cozy, warm and inviting with a nice patio in the back. The neighborhood is quiet yet close enough to town run errands when we visit. Highly recommend!

Lafayette Gardens was terrible. Most of the residents looked like they were way beyond being able to remember anything. The staff, while friendly, was not attentive to them, with the exception of one person feeding somebody else. They had individual rooms that seemed clean. There was a urine smell. Other than that, it wasn't anything I'd give top ratings for.

Lafayette Gardens is more of a residential facility. It's on a much smaller scale. They have five or six rooms, and it's a home. The residents have their own bedroom. The upkeep was attractive. It looked well- maintained and clean. The owner-operator was very helpful and very friendly. She gave me a description of the facility and their service in terms of their staff, 24/7. They provide homecooked meals, so they don't serve prepared foods. They cook meals from scratch. I wasn't given a detailed description of the activities. It sounds like people in the residence can choose their own activities, instead of them being provided activities, but they get the care they need. I'm just looking for more care for my mother.

I like Lafayette Gardens. I would be thinking about putting my wife there. It seemed to be very nice. It was clean. One of the caretakers showed me around, but the owner came later to talk to me. I sat around there with them for about half an hour waiting for them to come and watching how they interacted with the patients. I'm not sure about their activities because they showed me the front door, and they showed me a room and the kitchen. It was more like a home living house and not a big facility. Food was adequate. They even fixed me food. It was good. The rice was fresh, and the chicken wasn't dry.

The facility is clean and well maintained, in a nice neighborhood. The employees are all sweet and caring even though my mom has dementia and is not always easy to deal with. They call her "Mama" and take really good care of her.

We had an opportunity to visit the facility and we would move our loved one here when the time comes. The prices were reasonable and the interior seemed cleaned and well cared for. All of the residents seemed content. I also felt the owners were involved in daily care of residents and felt passionate about their facility. I would recommend this facility.

I am truly blessed that I came across this wonderful Lafayette Gardens for my mom. Wholehearted thanks to Meeran S and the entire staff. You guys are taking tremendous care of my mom *Betty and helping her feel more secure and safe with each passing day. The care, the room, and other necessities are so nicely taken care of. I never have to worry anymore since you guys are doing the best job in this world. Mom just looks a lot healthier and happier than ever before! A real thank you to the entire staff at Lafayette Gardens! Everyone is so courteous and warm here – we are truly and truly blessed!

First of all, I'd to specify that I am giving a completely open & honest review here. My mother has been at Lafayette Gardens since last August so it is just over a year. When we were looking for a senior home, we had seen fancier & newer facilities in both Emeryville and Alameda. They were nice but they didn't have what Lafayette has which is a strong sense of community. This I would say is the best & strongest feature at Lafayette Gardens - a feeling of being at home, a sense of community. You can't buy that. Lafayette Gardens is not fancy but it is warm, clean and pleasant. It feel like someone's home not a hotel. It really is nice to see. The people who work here know my mom by first name & have always been friendly & helpful. My mother tires out easily but if she wants to be around people there is a large community room with big comfy chairs. Earlier this year my mother suffered a minor stroke. She was having breakfast and it was one of the staff that noticed my mom's slurred speech and called an ambulance. Both Meeran & Saurabh are wonderful and have always returned my calls and answered my questions about the facility.

Moving our mother to Lafayette Gardens was a fantastic decision. Angel and Steven, the live-in caregivers, are fantastic. I can't say enough about their friendly, personal care. They know exactly what Mom likes to eat and make sure she gets it. Recently, they got her out on the back patio and sent us pictures of Mom enjoying the sun. I feel very confident that they are taking expert care of her, which really eases my mind now that we can't stop in to see her. I really recommend Lafayette Gardens,

Back in September 2018, my mom was given short notice from her assisted living facility that they could no longer provide the kind of extra care she now needed. I scrambled to come up with a list of 4 local facilities that I could visit that could possibly meet my mom’s needs and take her in, and in a hurry. I need not have looked any further than the first one I visited, Lafayette Gardens. The director, Meeran, from the very beginning of our meeting, was so professional, prepared, gracious, caring and genuinely interested in meeting my mom and wanting to welcome into her home and having her, and her 14 year old Papillon dog, as residents. The house is so lovely and clean and positive in every way. Needless to say, we felt so fortunate to have found a place in a very safe neighborhood and a staff so caring and diligent in meeting my mom’s many medicinal and physical needs. Meeran and the caretakers treated my mom and dog as if they were their own family members in her time there. I really can’t say enough about how comforted I felt to have my mom at Lafayette Gardens and how the staff went out of their way to make her as comfortable and loved as possible, even during some very trying times. I’ll never forget them and will always hold a special place in my heart for their friendship and tireless efforts in making my mom’s final months so peaceful.

Thank you for assisting my parent at your lovely residential care home. Caregiver is very approachable and has taken excellent care of my parent. As this was our first time at a care home, we found out that this place gives us the best bang for our buck. My parent is very thankful and wants to go back.
