I was there 6 mos ago for a colostomy bag / blood clot....everything was okay at the beginning everyone was nice....the marketing director/ director/ a few nurses were nice until I left but there were some can that were terrible ???? the morning staff were good but the evening staff omg the took long in responding to calls and all they did were chatter away and play around! One night I had a issue with my bag that it was not sticking right and I called my cna and she brought in the nurse.....between the nurse and cna they were downright mean with me with the words they use ???? they never help me change my bag instead they just put a plastic bag under the other one and left me like that and she told me that there wasn't any more bags that they can change me.....I cried that night and in the morning there was a cna that was always really nice with me and she took the report down for me in what happen and she inform the nurse and he was nice enough to change the bag for me......the cna wanted to say sorry to me after she got in trouble but no that not good enough....you don't treat people like that!!!!! I was told if I got Ill again to go back there.....heck no!!! They knew I couldn't eat egg or onion but they still gave it to me......never ever will I go there again ???????????????????????? quite honestly they should close it cause there are some staff that's mean ( cna) they treat older people wrong.....no never again will I ever go there !!!!!

My Mom was there for rhabilitation, and as far as these type place go-- Parkway Hills has been theee best-! Truly caring staff & a wonderful, efficient, caring Discharge Planner! The food very decent most of the time. The biggest challenge was the phone situation--as at this time, they do not provide phone lines for each patient's bedside use--and not being able to connect, contact my mom whenever I wanted was very frustrating! The staff did their best to be able to walk a pphone to her when she got calls--however, much of the time, a phone was not available. If my mom were ever to need a place like this for care--we would definitely request and recommend-!

This is one of the BEST Nursing and Rehabilitation places in San Diego. I have been in many and therefore have the experience to judge. The staff is friendly, compassionate and attentive. I would not hesitate for a minute to place my loved one in Parkway Hills. This is a five star facility in my learned opinion!!!!!!!!

Of all the places we visited in the La Mesa & El Cajon area, Parkway Hills was the best. It is a smaller facility (around 50 beds I think) and felt more like home than the others which were more like hospitals. Susan the Admissions Director was very nice and answered all our questions. Many of the senior staff (Admissions Director, Director of Nursing, etc.) have been there for 10-20 years which I think is a positive sign. They have their own on-site physical rehab program which was also a plus as we knew my mother-in-law needed to rebuild her strength. Most importantly, their most recent California audit survey revealed only one minor issue relating to food storage... The other facilities all had pages and pages of issues, many with complaints from patients of abuse or incorrect drug dosage which is scary!!She's now been there for about 3 weeks and his hoping to be discharged next week. Her experience was very good. Her PT coach, Mike, pushed her very hard but the exercise was rewarding and has built her strength and confidence. The nursing staff is nice and helpful. All of her needs are met there. The only downside is that like many places, the staff get busy and sometimes forget the little things. My mother-in-law has waited hours for a promised cup of coffee or to have her nebulizer cleaned. In the grand scheme of things, these are really minor issues and I suspect we'd experience this at other places too. This was the only factor in giving them 4 instead of 5 stars.Overall we're very happy with Parkway Hills!
