My dad was in Aegis Living Granada Hills which is a great community. It was a small place in Granada Hills and they were great to my dad. The facility is a little bit older and has smaller rooms. There are no amenities, they're just apartments. He participated in their activities and he liked doing them a lot.

I can't say enough about Aegis. I am so thankful my husband is there. I know he is safe and well taken care of which is so very important to me. I have a great rapport with the staff and they are always there to answer any questions I may have. The rooms are spotless and they do a great job with activities. Thanksgiving brunch for the families was awesome.

I visited Aegis and thought it was a good possibility. They had open grounds but not enough outside space. My overall experience was very good. The staff was very helpful and very informative. They gave me a tour and a packet. Everything they did was very appropriate. I saw one room that was very appropriate. I didn’t have any problems with anything that I saw. The only observation I made is that I wished they had a little more garden space. Everything else seemed up to par. I passed through as a class was being conducted, and everybody seemed attentive and interested.

The overall atmosphere at Aegis of Granada Hills is fine. The staff is very helpful. They have very nice rooms. Whatever you want is there. The food is adequate. When you cater for a lot of people, you can't please everybody, but most of the people are pleased.

I moved my mother to Aegis of Granada Hills because it is closer to me. They keep her clean, and they feed her. The staff is extremely pleasant. I think the food is good. My mother is bed confined, and she can't get up, but I walk by their dining room all the time, and I thought it looked like a restaurant the way the tables were laid out. It is fairly high class, and it looks very nice. They have a lot of activities for the people. My mother is unable to partake in anything, but they do have lot of stuff to do if they could. I go by, and I see them doing karaoke, I see different groups coming in, and I see them doing cooking classes too. She is in a one-bedroom, and it has a couch, a couple of chairs, and a big screen TV with cable. The kitchen has a fairly good sized refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom is the kind where you can get the wheelchair rolled right into it. You can bring your own furniture if you wanted.

I had my mother-in-law at Aegis Granada Hills for three months before I brought her home. It was the nicest facility that we toured and I found it by searching online. It's a terrific facility and the surrounding area is very nice. There is a shopping center just about across the street. The food is terrific. They have a chef there and he makes sure that each resident gets what they should eat. We took her to several of the activities and she got involved in some of them, but she wasn't really interested in the wellness program.

My dad has lived at Aegis for 3 1/2 years in the assisted living area. In general, the caregivers are devoted and friendly and people are well-trained. There has been some turnover in administration, but each director has been pretty good. The facility is clean, doesn't smell, and the residents are well-cared for. The food is nutritious and pretty good, although not always what is listed on the posted menus (veal turns out to be chicken, etc.). Many of the residents have some memory or cognitive problems, even the ones who do not live in the special area for cognitively impaired residents. The facility itself is lovely - nice furniture, cloth napkins, etc. although is starting to look a little worn (August 2009).
